  • A visual servoing algorithm is proposed for a robot with a camera in hand. Specifically, novel image features are suggested by employing a viewing model of perspective projection to estimate relative pitching and yawing angles between the object and the camera. To compensate dynamic characteristics of the robot, desired feature trajectories for the learning of visually guided line-of-sight robot motion are obtained by measuring features by the camera in hand not in the entire workspace, but on a single linear path along which the robot moves under the control of a, commercially provided function of linear motion. And then, control actions of the camera are approximately found by fuzzy-neural networks to follow such desired feature trajectories. To show the validity of proposed algorithm, some experimental results are illustrated, where a four axis SCARA robot with a B/W CCD camera is used.

Single-Pass Induction Motor Parameter Identification Method Taking Into Account Saturation and Rotor Parameter Variations

  • The paper describes a novel technique for on line parameter identification of three-phase induction motors from a single, run up to speed test. Data is sampled during this test with the normal locked rotor and synchronous speed data captured on the way to reaching the motor's rated speed. Rotor parameter variations with frequency due to skin and proximity effects and other non-linear imperfections such as heating and main flux path saturation are taken into account. This method is ideal for determining and/or verifying parameters used in high performance drives.

  • In this paper, using diversity and convolution code in the DS/CDMA system, have been the performance analized. In this modulation shceme is using QPSK. Channel to CDMA system has been approximated by Rayleight fading channel considering effect for multi-path. In this assumed that receiver is WTDL(Wide-band Tappped Delay Line) receiver, and in this condition, average error probability of DS/CDMA.

Performance Analysis of Multi-Gigabit Wireless Transmission at THz WLAN-Type Applications

  • Optimal position of access point (AP) is important for multi-gigabit wireless transmission in terahertz (THz) wireless local area network (WLAN)-type applications, where there exist the THz characteristic multiple clusters in channel propagation. By considering the multiple clusters in THz indoor communications, this paper investigates the optimal AP position when two APs are issued for increasing the system capacity. Numerical results reveal that the central position of each AP within each half service region, which offers the shortest cumulated path length for line-of-sight paths, is optimal to achieve the maximal system capacity.

  • Polymer insulators are used widely in variable fields for high voltage insulation and separating people from high voltage charging parts for safety and also supporting overhead power line in electric railway. But it may be broken down by tracking path resulting from continuous surface discharge. This paper has investigated synthetically both the characteristics of electrical aging using precision CT(current transformer) and the thermal aging using thermography method. Electrical aging was analyzed for time-frequency region and thermal aging was illustrated by image processing method. This synthetic method may be an appropriate one to evaluate the surface degradation of polymer insulator.

  • In this report, an adaptive flight control law based on a linear-parameter-varying (LPV) model is presented for a flight control system. The control system is designed to track an output of a vehicle to a reference signal from the guidance system, which generates a reference flight path. The proposed adaptive control law adjusts the controller gains continuously on line as flight conditions change. The obtained adaptive controller guarantees global stability over a wide flight envelope. Computer simulation involving six-degree-of-freedom nonlinear flight dynamics is applied to Japan´s automatic landing flight experimental vehicle (ALFLEX) to examine the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive flight control law.

  • The geometry PIG provides pipeline operators with continuous measurement of pipe centerline coordinates, bend radius, displacement, and bending strain in a single pass through the pipeline. This study introduces the developed geometry PIG(Pipeline Inspection Gauge) which is used for geometry surveys. This tool is equipped with the several sensor systems. The Inertial Navigation System (INS) comprises angle rate gyros and linear accelerometers. The system measures the precise path of the PIG during its traverse of the pipeline.   • NC cutting simulation is an important factor in the development of products. The geometric modelling of cutter swept surface should be done in NC cutting simulation. A part of cutter swept surface is a ruled surface blended with silhouette curve and cutter path. Finding an intersection point between cutter swept surface and a line is one of major problems in Z-map based cutting simulation. In this paper, cutter swept surface is defined parametrically and it's intersection point with Z-map is found in an exact form. Triangular grid Z-map based 3-axis NC cutting simulation is performed.

LED transceivers with beehive-shaped reflector for visible light communication

  • This paper proposes a novel beehive-shaped reflector for application to light-emitting diode (LED) transceivers for illumination and bi-directional visible light communication (VLC). By using a diffuse propagation model extended to line-of-sight and direct signals, the distribution of illuminance and the path loss of the transceiver are investigated to evaluate the performance of the beehive-shaped reflector. To verify bi-directional communication, a VLC-based image capture system, comprising a complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor and video processor unit, is demonstrated. Real-time images captured by the CMOS camera are successfully transmitted to the monitoring system via a free-space channel at a rate of 115.2 kbps.
