  • The attenuation due to rain has been recognized as one of the major causes of unavailability of radio communication systems operating above about 10 GHz. To design radio links for telecommunications and to evaluate attenuation due to rainfall, it is important to have a good prediction model for rain attenuation such as a model for drop-size distribution of rainfall(DSD), a theoretical model for specific rain attenuation, and an empirical model fur effective path length through rain. In this paper, the extended generalized gamma distribution for drop-size distribution, based on the measurements in Chnugnam National University, is proposed as a new DSD model, and predicted specific attenuation characteristics using proposed DSD model and rain attenuation values in the 44 GHz satellite path using ITU-R effective path length model, are analysed. The predicted attenuation levels are also compared. It is found that an accurate prediction method for DSD is very important to reduce the prediction error in the local satellite path.

  • In this study, we present a model that can be used to calculate the phonon-surface scattering rate directly from the experimental data on phonon mean free path (MFP) spectra of nanostructures. Using this model and the recently reported length-dependent thermal conductivity measurements on $Si_{0.9}Ge_{0.1}$ nanowires (NWs), we investigate the spectral reduced MFP distribution and the spectral phonon-surface scattering rate in the $Si_{0.9}Ge_{0.1}$ NWs. From the results, it is found that the phonon transport properties with the material and the phonon frequency dependency of the spectral phonon-surface scattering rate per unit length of the NW. The model presented in this study can be used for developing heat transfer analysis models of nanomaterials, and for determining the optimum design for tailoring the heat transfer characteristics of nanomaterials for future applications of phonon nanoengineering.

  • This study was to simulate it that the sending receiving vehicles run on the general national roads with the one-way two-lanes at 80[km/h] speed. This study was to select 280[m] radius of curvature based on the statistical data with high rate of traffic accidents, 140[m] length of direct roads considering the stopping stadia, 90[m] length of curve, and 8 points of curved roads at 11.25[m] intervals. As a result above, when the distance between the sending and receiving vehicles became more than 111[m], the propagation path of reflected wave by the adjacent vehicles became longer than the propagation path of reflected wave by the left/right reflectors because the number of repeated reflection increased. In this study, the repeated reflection for the propagation's reach to the receiving vehicles was about $1{\sim}2$[times] as it supposed it less than 111[m]. Accordingly, it found out that the propagation path of reflected wave received through the left/right reflectors was about $1{\sim}1.5[m]$ larger than the reflected wave produced by the adjacent vehicles regardless of lanes on which the sending and receiving vehicles were located.

  • This paper has analyzed the relation of conduction path and subthreshold swing for doping profile in channel of asymmetric double gate(DG) MOSFET. Since the channel size of asymmetric DGMOSFET is greatly small and number of impurity is few, the high doping channel is analyzed. The analytical potential distribution is derived from Possion's equation, and Gaussian distribution function is used as doping profile. The conduction path and subthreshold swing are derived from this analytical potential distribution, and those are investigated for variables of doping profile, projected range and standard projected deviation, according to the change of channel length and thickness. As a result, subthreshold swing is reduced when conduction path is approaching to top gate, and that is increased with a decrease of channel length and a increase of channel thickness due to short channel effects.

  • This paper deals with the graph in which the weights of edges are given the distances between two end vertices on a metric space. In particular, we will study about a path P with n vertices for these graphs. We obtain a new graph $\bar{P}$ by augmenting an edge to P. Then the length of the shortest path between two vertices on $\bar{P}$ is considered and we focus on the maximum of these lengths. This maximum is called the diameter of the graph $\bar{P}$. We wish to find the augmented edge to minimize the diameter of $\bar{P}$. Especially, for an arbitrary real number λ > 0, we should determine whether the diameter of $\bar{P}$ is less than or equal to λ and we propose an O(n)-time algorithm for this problem, which improves on the time complexity O(nlogn) previously known. Using this decision algorithm, for the length D of P, we provide an O(nlogD)-time algorithm to find the minimum of the diameter of $\bar{P}$.

  • The paper presents an efficient computation of optimal tool length for 5-axis mold & die machining. The implemented procedure processes an NC file as an initial input, where the NC data is generated by another commercial CAM system. A commercial CAM system generates 5-axis machining NC data which, in its own way, is optimal based on pre-defined machining condition such as tool-path pattern, tool-axis control via inclination angles, etc. The proper tool-length should also be provided. The tool-length should be as small as possible in order to enhance machinability as well as surface finish. A feasible tool-length at each NC block can be obtained by checking interference between workpiece and tool components, usually when the tool-axis is not modified at this stage for most CAM systems. Then the minimum feasible tool-length for an NC file consisting of N blocks is the maximum of N tool-length values. However, it can be noted that slight modification of tool-axis at each block may reduce the minimum feasible tool-length in mold & die machining. This approach can effectively be applied in machining feature regions such as steep wall or deep cavity. It has been implemented and is used at a molding die manufacturing company in Korea.

  • This paper introduces an algorithm which uses MUIO and the shortest paths to minimize the length of test sequence. The length of test sequence is equal to the total number of the edges in a symmetric test graph $G^{*}$. Therefore, it is important to make a $G^{*}$ with the least number of the edges. This algorithm is based on the one proposed Shen[2]. It needs the complexity to make shortest paths but reduces the thest sequence by 1.0~9.8% over the Shen's algorithm. and this technique, directly, derives a symmetric test graph from an FMS.

  • This paper deals with the torsional buckling behavior of plain weave GFRP composite cylindrical shells having comparatively small length-to-diameter ratio. Boundary conditions corresponding to clamped ends and simply supported ends are considered. Torsional buckling loads and circumferential mode numbers according to the variation of shell length-to-radius ratio are conformed. To verify the availability of the theoretical results, comparison with the theoretical and experimental results are made.

  • This paper has analyzed the change of threshold voltage and conduction path for the ratio of top and bottom gate oxide thickness of asymmetric double gate MOSFET. The asymmetric double gate MOSFET has the advantage that the factor to be able to control the current in the subthreshold region increases. The analytical potential distribution is derived from Poisson's equation to analyze the threshold voltage and conduction path for the ratio of top and bottom gate oxide thickness. The Gaussian distribution function is used as charge distribution. This analytical potential distribution is used to derive off-current and subthreshold swing. By observing the results of threshold voltage and conduction path with parameters of bottom gate voltage, channel length and thickness, projected range and standard projected deviation, the threshold voltage greatly changed for the ratio of top and bottom gate oxide thickness. The threshold voltage changed for the ratio of channel length and thickness, not the absolute values of those, and it increased when conduction path moved toward top gate. The threshold voltage and conduction path changed more greatly for projected range than standard projected deviation.

  • A hybrid-integrated SAW(surface acoustic wave) douplexer including transmitter(Tx) filter, receiver(Rx) filter an dantenna terminal has been studied. The prototype duplxer was designed for CDMA system application in the 800 MHz-band. Ladder type SAW filters consisting of one port SAW resonators wer integrated on epoxy substrate to demonstrate the feasiblity of antenna duplexer. In order to perform the duplexing function, a strip line for impedance transformaton with length of .gamma./4 was inserted at rx path. The fabricted duplexer has an insertion loss of 3.0 dB at Tx path and 3.7 dB at Rx path. The attenuation has more than 40dB.
