The coordination control of multiple Underactuated Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) moving in three dimensional space is investigated in this paper. The coordinated path following control task is decomposed into two sub tasks, that is, path following control and coordination control. In the spatial curve path following control task, path following error dynamics is build in the Serret-Frenet coordinate frame. The virtual reference object can be chosen freely on the desired spatial path. Considering the speed of the UUV, the line-of-sight navigation is introduced to help the path following errors quickly converge to zero. In the coordination control sub task, the communication topology of multiple UUVs is described by the graph theory. The speed of each UUV is adjusted to achieve the coordination. The path following system and the coordination control system are viewed as the feedback connection system. Input-to-state stable of the coordinated path following system can be proved by small gain theorem. The simulation experiments can further demonstrate the good performance of the control method.
In this study a path control scheme of simulation models of various vehicles to evaluate their handling characteristic is developed. Based on the forward target method, path deviation error is estimated and the required steering effort to reduce the error is computed by Ziegler-Nichols PID control rule. Velocity control model is also included in the proposed path control scheme to achieve the desired velocity. The path control scheme is implemented on a full vehicle model to perform ISO test procedures, such as steady state cornering, lane change, and sinusoidal input, etc. Through the simulations of ISO test procedures and comparison with actual tests, effectiveness and validity of the path control model is demonstrated.
A method is presented for generating the path which significantly reduces residual vibration of a flexible robot manipulator and applying control theory to track the desired path. The desired path is optimally designed so that the system completes the required move with minimum residual vibration. A closed loop control theory is applied to track the planned path in the case of load variation. Specifically, it is desired that the optimally designed path has a better trajectory tracking capabilities during the residual vibration over the cycloidal path, in various cases of load. Perturbation adaptive control is used as closed loop control scheme. A planar two link manipulator is used to evaluate this method.
Conventionally, robot control algorithms are divided into two stages, namely, path or trajectory planning and path tracking(or path control). This division has been adopted mainly as a means of alleviating difficulties in dealing with complex, complex, coupled manipulator dynamics. The minimum-time manipulator control problem is solved for the case when the path is specified and the actuator torque limitations are known. In path planning, DP is applied to applied to find the shortest path form initial position to final position with the assumptions that there is no obstacle and that each path is straight line. In path control, the phase plane technique is applied to the minimum-time control with the assumptions that the bound on each actuator torque is a function of joint position and velocity or constant. This algorithm can be used for any manipulator that has rigid link, known dynamics equations of motion, and joint angles that can be determined at a given position on the path.
Free-path-type guidance system does not need a hardwired path in the environment so that it gives a mobile robot a flexible path. ln this study to achieve the free-path-type guidance system for a mobile robot which is steered by the differential steering of both drive forewheels, position recognition systems are constructed using odometer system as an internal position sensor. Two odometer systems, a auxiliary wheel odometer and a 2-encoder odometer system are constructed and path following algorithms using these odometer systems are designed and experimented. PID control type is adopted in the path following algorithms.
In this paper, a steering control system for the path tracking of autonomous vehicles is described. The steering control system consists of a path tracker and primitive driver. The path tracker generates the desired steering angle by using the look-ahead distance, vehicle heading, and a lateral offset. A method for applying an autonomous vehicle to path tracking is an advanced pure pursuit method that can reduce cutting corners, which is a weakness of the pure pursuit method. The steering controller controls the steering actuator to follow the desired steering angle. A servo motor is installed to control the steering handle, and it can transmit the steering force using a belt and pulley. We designed a steering controller that is applied to a proportional integral differential controller. However, because of a dead band, the path tracking performance and stability of autonomous vehicles are reduced. To overcome the dead band, a dead band compensator was developed. As a result of the compensator, the path tracking performance and stability are improved.
In this paper, the control algorithm fur an autonomous vehicle is studied and applied to an actual 2 wheel-driven vehicle system. In order to control a nonholonomic system, the kinematic model for an autonomous vehicle is constructed by relative velocity relationship about the virtual point at distance from the vehicle's frame. And the optimal controller that based on the kinematic model is operated on purpose to track a reference vehicle's path. The actual system is designed with named 'HYAVI' and the system controller is applied. Because all the results of simulation don't satisfy the driving conditions of HYAVI, a reformed control algorithm that satisfies an actual autonomous vehicle is applied at HYAVI. At the results of actual experiments, the path tracking works very well by the reformed control algorithm. An autonomous vehicle that applied this control algorithm can be easily used for a path generation algorithm.
This research presents an A* based algorithm which can be applied to Unmanned Ground Vehicle self-navigation in order to make the driving path smoother. Based on the grid map, A* algorithm generated the path by using straight lines. However, in this situation, the knee points, which are the connection points when vehicle changed orientation, are created. These points make Unmanned Ground Vehicle continuous navigation unsuitable. Therefore, in this paper, B-spline curve function is applied to transform the path transfer into curve type. And because the location of the control point has influenced the B-spline curve, the optimal control selection algorithm is proposed. Also, the optimal path tracking speed can be calculated through the curvature radius of the B-spline curve. Finally, based on this algorithm, a path created program is applied to the path results of the A* algorithm and this B-spline curve algorithm. After that, the final path results are compared through the simulation.
This paper proposes an LOS(line-of-sight) guidance system of a ship for path following. From the viewpoint of a control configuration, guidance is a special type of compensation algorithm that is placed in front of the controller to accomplish navigational objects. A guidance system generates a reference trajectory for trajectory tracking or path control and decides the desired velocity, position and heading angle. A control system executes commands based on a reliable guidance law during navigation. An LOS vector from the vessel to a point on the path between two way-points in straight-line navigation or a point among turning circle in turning navigation is selected, and then a heading angle is calculated to converge the desired path based on the LOS vector. The LOS guidance law is defined for the straight-line and the turning circle, respectively. The effectiveness of the suggested LOS guidance system is assured through computer simulation.
