  • We proposed a $4{\times}8$ array antenna with aperture-coupled patch antenna elements. The antenna was designed for 60 GHz operation and fabrication on the low-temperature cofired ceramic(LTCC) substrate($\varepsilon_r$=5.8). The feedline with the stub was designed to enhance the radiating element bandwidth and the transition characteristics between the waveguide (WG) and microstrip line(MSL). Through the optimization of the antenna and feedline geometry, the antenna gain and the performance of the 10 dB bandwidth were 20.2 dBi and 13 % up, respectively. The measured results agreed with the simulated ones.

  • This paper is analysis on usefulness of Microstrip patch antenna design using Taguchi's Orthogonal array. For comparison, the shape of U-slot and Feed line elements are decided as a parameter in Microstrip patch antenna. And all the possible result of 19,683 times simulation using parameter sweep and the result of Taguchi's orthogonal arrays are compared. The simulation of Parameter sweep and Orthogonal arrays has 3.7% error on 10dB Bandwidth. Finally, It is identified that 19,683 times parameter sweep simulation can be reduced to 27 times with Taguchi's orthogonal arrays but still it represents antenna parameter characters well.

  • In this study, $1{\times}2$ microstrip patch array antenna of 5.150 - 5.350GHz for wireless LAN was investigated and analyzed after optimizing the antenna parameters. From the measurement result, we obtained that the center frequency of the antenna is 5.214GHz and -41.17dB of the insertion loss, and 258MHz of bandwidth. The fabricated antenna has VSWR value of 1.1 and impedance value of $49.724{\Omega}$.

  • In this paper, we simulated a radiation pattern directivity of microstrip patch antenna for 9[GHz] using the computer. It is analyzed and compared the directivity of field characteristics at two different aspects. One is that of 1-dimension and 2-dimension array, the other is that of a linear and planar array antenna. We tried the constants for the simulation of teflon substrate, dielectric constant ${\varepsilon}r=2.50$, ground plane conductor thickness t=0.03556, substrate height h=0.72188, dielectric loss degree $tan{\delta}$=0.00085, characteristics impedence of line $Zo=50({\Omega})$. The major advantage of microstrip patch antenna is that the arrangement of antenna is associated with the directivity and effectiveness. We have been studied the difference of the radiation pattern of antenna with wave variety through computer simulation.

  • The effect of a finite substrate size on the radiation characteristics of a two-element linear E-plane array antenna using microstrip patch antennas is investigated. The average active element pattern characteristics of two-element E-plane array antennas printed on different dielectric constant substrates with various substrate sizes and element spacings are analyzed. Using the average active element pattern, the radiation pattern characteristics of the array antenna versus scan angle is analyzed. The simulation results show that the diffracted fields of surface waves from substrate edges have a significant effect on the radiation characteristics of a 2-element E-plane array antenna. The distance between the center of patch antenna and the substrate edges on the E-plane for the enhancement of radiation characteristics of the array antenna is about $0.35{\lambda}_0$.

  • In this paper, we designed a 24.4GHz 2-channel TX and 4-channel RX patch array antenna mounted on a short-range vehicle radar system to simultaneously measure the range and speed of a single object within a single measurement cycle. The antenna was designed and fabricated using Rogers' RO4350B(εr=3.48, 0.5T) board. Through measurement, it was confirmed that the design specifications of antenna gain (> 10dBi or more) and radiation pattern (Elevation HPBW > 10deg.) were satisfied at 24.4 GHz frequency.

  • In this paper, a $4{\times}4$ rectangular patch array antenna operated at 20 GHz is implemented for the satellite communication. Two $2{\times}2$ subarrays are designed and more efficient $2{\times}2$ subarray is used for the design of $4{\times}4$ patch array. The sixteen patch antennas and microstrip feeding line are printed on the single-layered substrate. The spacing between the array elements is chosen to be $0.736{\lambda}$. HPBW (Half-Power Beam Width) is 17.6 degrees in the E-plane and 18.7 degrees in the H-plane with a gain of 17.2SdBi in the simulation results.

It was designed and fabricated in 16$\times$8 array by using low cost polyester based copper-clad laminate and foam instead of high cost dielectric substrate. It had gain of 22.9 dBi, beamwidth of 4.6$^{\circ}$, and tilted angle from broadside direction of 43.9$^{\circ}$.
