A Study on the Relationship among the characteristics of International Joint Venture Partners, Alliance Commitment, and Joint Venture Performance: Focusing on international joint ventures in China (국제합작기업 파트너 특성, 제휴몰입도, 그리고 합작기업성과의 관계에 대한 연구: 중국 소재 국제합작기업을 중심으로)

  • According to the literature, the studies on the effects of the characteristics of the international joint venture partners on joint venture performance are mainly focused on partial aspects of partners characteristics, and the studies that investigate a mediating effect of alliance commitment on the relationship between partners characteristics and joint venture performance are scarce. Hence, this research intends to identify comprehensive partners characteristics, including CEO leadership behaviors similarity, strategic similarity, resources similarity, and organizational similarity and examines their effects on alliance commitment and joint venture performance. The results reveal that CEO leadership behaviors similarity and organizational similarity have a positive influence on alliance commitment and joint venture performance, whereas strategic similarity and resources similarity have a negative influence on alliance commitment and joint venture performance. It is also found that alliance commitment affects joint venture performance positively and mediates the relationship between partners characteristics and joint venture performance. Based on these results, key conclusions and implications are discussed.

Analysis on Key Success Factors for Partner Relationship Management (파트너관계관리 성공요인의 중요도 분석)

  • Partner relationship management (PRM) refers to processes and methodologies associated with managing the relationship between corporations and their partners. Recently, the importance of PRM has been increasingly emphasized, and it is considered as a core competitive factor for firms whose sales heavily rely on the intermediate distributor. In this paper, we identify key success factors for PRM system based on literature review on CRM system and interviews with domain experts, and prioritize them from two different perspectives, firms and partners, based on analytical hierarchy process. Partners responded that trust-building between firms and partners, quality of system, and satisfaction level for information system have high priorities, while firms responded that quality of system, information share, and trust building between firms and partners. Identified factors and evaluated priorities can provide a strategic guideline when planning the PRM system building.

Development of a Web-based Sexual Health Program for Women Undergoing Treatment for Gynecologic Cancer and Their Partners (부인암 여성과 배우자를 위한 웹 기반 성 건강 프로그램 개발)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a web-based sexual health program for women undergoing treatment for gynecologic cancer and their partners, and to evaluate the validity of the developed program. Methods: A web-based sexual health program was developed and evaluated: analysis (needs assessment on 23 patients and content analysis through literature review and web search), design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Results: The web-based sexual health program for women undergoing treatment for gynecologic cancer and their partners was structured with sexual life, sexual response cycle, change of sexual function, sexual dysfunction related to treatment, and useful method for sexual dysfunction. This program included a video to improve for understanding and a bulletin board to promote bi-directional interactions between program users and providers. Experts and users rated this program in terms of efficacy, convenience, design, relevance, and usefulness. This program contents were found appropriate and satisfactory to both experts and users. Conclusion: This web-based sexual health program for women undergoing treatment for gynecologic cancer and their partners would contribute to sexual health promotion for gynecologic cancer women and their partners.

  • Purpose - This study is to analyze the main macroeconomic indicators in Russia and the leading countries- partners and to research GDP, the debt, the foreign trade and other indicators. This main indicator is using in regulation in the economic stability of country, of stability of trade with countries-partners. Research design, data, and methodology - This paper used the amount of data to be analyzed at the present stage, from the 2010 to 2015 in Russia. In order to assess trends of development, the array of data on the indicators used for the 1995-2017. The data analyzed using the methods of multivariate statistics and application of the software package Stat graphics. Results - Hypothesis 1. In the recent years GDP has tended to increase in the most countries of the world. In Russia and its structure of branch of economics is uneven. Hypothesis 2. The foreign trade turnover also has tended to grow. The foreign trade balance in Russia and in the leading countries-partners has a positive balance, dominated by the export of goods. Conclusions - This paper finds that the foreign trade turnover also has tends to grow.   • 다른 경영혁신체계의 도입시와 비슷하게 대다수의 BSC도입 기업들이 성공하지 못한 가장 큰 이유는 기존의 성과관리체계를 BSC의 4가지 관점하에 재설계하는데 급급하거나 구축이후 변화 관리가 제대로 이루어지지 못함으로서 지속적인 전략이행 도구로서 보다는 일회성의 성과평가 수단으로서 머무른데 있다고 볼 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 두 기업에 대한 사례분석을 통하여 BSC를 성공적으로 활용하기 위한 5가지의 성공요소들을 도출하였고 이를 달성하기 위한 이행 방안을 제시하였다.

  • Licensing contracts between partners in International Joint Ventures(IJV) have not only aspects of relation contract, which is interdependent and long-term cooperative relationships in interpartner but also aspects of discrete contract which is exposed to opportunistic risk caused by IJV partners who maximize individual profit instead of joint payoff maximization. In this circumstance, appropriate compensation structures such as lump-sum and royalty can reduce conflicts and spur interpartner cooperation. In addition, compensation structures that stipulate each party's rights, duties, and responsibilities under various sets of environmental conditions have strong implications for transaction cost minimization and joint payoff maximization. On the other hands, compensation structures such as lump-sum and royalty in IJV licensing contract have benefits and costs depending on IJV partners uncertainty, partner dependency, and environment uncertainty. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to empirically show how partner uncertainty, partner dependence and environment uncertainty influence compensation structure chosen by licensor in IJV.

  • This study explores building process of innovative capability through overseas direct investment (ODI) by taking the camera business of Samsung Aerospace Industry (SAI) as a case. SAI with less than 20 years history has pursued an aggressive ODI and developed its own camera models. It acquired Rollei in Germany and Union in Japan in 1995, for acquiring advanced technology. Several factors leading to the success of SAI's innovative cability building were taken into consideration. First, SAI effectively absorbed technological knowledge by exchanging technical personnel with foreign partners. Second, it chose right partners with the complementary knowledge required for advancing its technological capability. Third, it strengthened its competrnce to satisfy the technical standards of the partner dompanies in OEM trade relations. Fourth, it successfully formed a global marketing network in which subsidiary companies plays a central role in each region. Finally, SAI successfully addressed the factors of mutual respect between partners in order to let its partners to be confident in their ventures.
