Cluster based VOD systems require elaborate load balancing and buffer management techniques in order to ensure real-time display for multiuser concurrently. In this paper, we propose a new load balancing technique based on the dynamic buffer partitioning in cluster based VOD servers. The proposed technique evenly distribute the user requests into each service node according to its available buffer capacity and disk access rate. In each node, the dynamic buffer partitioning technique dynamically partitions the buffer to minimize the average waiting time for the requests that access the same continuous media. The simulation results show that our proposed technique decreases the average waiting time by evenly distributing the user requests compared with the exiting techniques and then increases the throughput in each node. Particularly under the overloaded condition in the cluster server, the simulation probes that the performance of the proposed technique is better two times than the Generalized Interval Caching based technique.
The microstructures and mechanical properties of Dual Phase (DP), Transformation-Induced Plasticity (TRIP), and Quenching & Partitioning (Q&P) steels were investigated in order to define the strengthening mechanism of 0.2 C steel. An intercritical annealing between Ac1 and Ac3 was conducted to produce DP and TRIP steel, followed by quenching the DP and TRIP steel being quenched at to room temperature and by the TRIP steel being austemperingaustempered-air cooling cooled the steel toat room temperature, respectively. The Q&P steel was produced from full austenization, followed by quenching to the temperature between $M_s$ and $M_f$, and then enriching the carbon to stabilize the austenite throughout the heat treatment. For the DP and TRIP steels, as the intercritical annealing temperature increased, the tensile strength increased and the elongation decreased. The strength variation was due to the amount of hard phases, i.e., martensite and bainite, respectively in the DP and TRIP steels. It was also found that the elongation also decreased with the amount of soft ferrite in the DP and TRIP steels and with the amount of the that was retained in the austenite phasein the TRIP steel, respectively for the DP and TRIP steels. For the Q&P steel, as the partitioning time increased, the elongation and the tensile strength increased slightly. This was due to the stabilized austenite that was enriched with carbon, even when the amount of retained austenite decreased as the partitioning time increased from 30 seconds to 100 seconds.

This paper describes the design of a high-level synthesis system. SODAS-VP. which automatically generates hardwares executing operation sequences in pipelined fashion.Target architecture and clocking schemes to drive pipelined datapath are determined, and the handling of pipeline hazards which degrade the performance of pipeline is considered. Partitioning of an operation into load, operation, and store stages, each of which is executed in partitiones control step, is performend. Pipelinecl hardware is generated by handling pipeline hazards with internal forwarding or delay insertion techniques in partitioning process and resolving resource conflicts among the partitioned control steps with similarity measure as a priority function in module allocation process. Experimental results show that SODAS-VP generates hardwares that execute faster than those generated by HAL and ALPS systems. SODAS-VP brings improvement in execution speed by 17.1% and 7.4% comparing with HAL and ALPS systems for a MCNC benchmark program, 5th order elliptical wave filter, respectively.

For parallel processing, the compiler partitions a loaded program into a set of tasks and makes a schedule for the tasks that will minimize parallel processing time for the loaded program. Building an optimal schedule for a given set of partitioned tasks of a program has known to be NP-complete. In this paper we introduce a GA(Genetic Algorithm)-based scheduling method in which a chromosome consists of two parts of a string which decide the number and order of tasks on each processor. An additional computation is used for feasibility constraint in the chromosome. By granularity theory, a partitioned program is categorized into coarse-grain or fine-grain types. There exist good heuristic algorithms for coarse-grain type partitioning. We suggested another GA adaptive to the coarse-grain type partitioning. The infeasibility of chromosome is overcome by the encoding and operators. The number of processors are decided while the GA find the minimum parallel processing time.
A shake-flask method was used to determine the n-octanol/water partition coefficients of sulfamethazine, sulfadimethoxine, sulfamethoxydiazine, sulfamonomethoxine, sulfamethoxazole, sulfaquinoxaline and sulfachloropyrazine from (298.15 to 333.15) K. The results showed that the n-octanol/water partition coefficient of each sulfonamide decreased with the increase of temperature. Based on the fluid phase equilibrium theory, the thermodynamic relationship of n-octanol/water partition coefficient depending on the temperature is proposed, and the changes of enthalpy, entropy, and the Gibbs free energy function for sulfonamides partitioning in n-octanol/ water are determined, respectively. Sulfonamides molecules partitioning in n-octanol/water is mainly an enthalpy driving process, during which the order degrees of system increased. The temperature effect coefficient of n-octanol/water partition coefficient is discussed. The results show that its magnitude is the same as that of values in the literature.

In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for task scheduling consisting of subtask partitioning and subtask priority scheduling steps in order to keep the peak power under the system specification. The subtask partitioning stepis performed to minimize the idle operation time for processors by dividing a task into multiple subtasks using the least square method developed with power consumption pattern of tasks. In the subtask priority scheduling step, a priority is assigned to a subtask based on the power requirement and the power variation of subtask so that the peak power violation can be minimized and the task can be completed within the execution time deadline.
Applications using 3D models are increasing recently. Since 3D polygonal models are structured by a triangular mesh, the coding of polygonal models in strips of triangles is an efficient way of representing the data. These strips may be very long, and may take a long time to render or transmit. If the triangle strips are partitioned, it may be possible to perform more efficient data transmission in an error-prone environment and to display the 3D model progressively. In this paper, we devised the Component Based Data Partitioning (CODAP) which is based on Topological Surgery (TS). In order to support the error resilience and the progressively build-up rendering, we partition the connectivity, geometry, and properties of a 3D polygonal model. Each partitioned component is independently encoded and resynchronization between partitioned components is done.

In this paper, w describe partitioning large circuits into multiple chips on the programmable FPCB for rapid prototyping. FPCBs consists of areas for FPGAs for logic and interconnect components, and the routing topology among them are predetermined. In the partition problem for FPCBs, the number of wires ofr routing among chips is fixed, which is an additonal constraints to the conventional partition problem. In order to deal with such aconstraint properly we first define a new partition problem, so called the topologybased partition problem, and then propose a heuristic method. The heuristic method is based on the simulated annealing and clustering technique. The multi-level tree clustering technique is used to obtain faster and better prtition results. In the experimental results for several test circuits, the restrictions for FPCB were all satisfied and the needed execution time was about twice the modified K-way partition method for large circuits.

In order to obtain rigorous systems analysis and design, it is essential to understand accurate information flow in the system. For the effective capturing of accurate information flow in a system, it Is vital to control information flow in the system. Also, information and information flow have to be simplified as a deliverable form. This paper presents partitioning and conveyance technique based on the application of situation theory. First, historical background of situation theory will be given. Then necessary conditions and definitions will be provided. Lastly, this paper provides specific technique with example. This introduced technique will be a powerful tool for sharing timely and relevant information in a complex manufacturing system that can be used continuously and efficiently throughout systems operation.
Weak persistence of white clover (Trifolium repens L.) under continuous grazing has been limited its availability in the mixture with grasses. The experiment was done to determine the effect of defoliation interval on $N_2$ fixation. nitrogen and carbohydrate partitioning of contrasting white clover cultivars. Individual plants of Osceola(large leaf), Grasslands Huia (me-dium leaf), and Aberystwyth S184 (small leaf) were grown in 15cm plastic pot containing a 1:2:1 soil:sand:Promix mixture for 55 days, and then clipped to remove all fully expanded leaves every 7, 14 or 28 days. To measure the cultivar response, plants were sampled immediately before final harvest (0) and on 1, 3, 7, 14, and 28 days after the final harvest, and then seperated leaves and petioles, stolons and roots for chemical analysis. Total nonstructural carbohydrate (TNC) concentrations of stolons and roots, and nitrogen con-centration of all the fractions inclined with increased defoliation interval. Those of Osceola, large leaved, were greater than the other cultivars showing different partitioning patterns between stolons and roots. Concentration of TNC was less in roots than in the other fractions while that of nitrogen declined in the order of leaves and petioles, roots and stolons. $N_2$ fixation rate of larger leaved cultivar, Osceola, was higher than that of smaller leaved cultivar. TNC and nitrogen concentrations of all the fractions and $N_2$ fixation rate were reduced as defoliation was imposed, defoliation interval declined or regrowing period become shorter. The partitioning patterns of TNC and nitrogen among the fractions were modified by defoliation interval and cultivars.
