Theoretical Model for Accident Prevention Based on Root Cause Analysis With Graph Theory

  • Introduction: Despite huge investments in new technology and transportation infrastructure, terrible accidents still remain a reality of traffic. Methods: Severe traffic accidents were analyzed from four prevailing modes of today's transportations: sea, air, railway, and road. Main root causes of all four accidents were defined with implementation of the approach, based on Flanagan's critical incident technique. In accordance with Molan's Availability Humanization model (AH model), possible preventive or humanization interventions were defined with the focus on technology, environment, organization, and human factors. Results: According to our analyses, there are significant similarities between accidents. Root causes of accidents, human behavioral patterns, and possible humanization measures were presented with rooted graphs. It is possible to create a generalized model graph, which is similar to rooted graphs, for identification of possible humanization measures, intended to prevent similar accidents in the future. Majority of proposed humanization interventions are focused on organization. Organizational interventions are effective in assurance of adequate and safe behavior. Conclusions: Formalization of root cause analysis with rooted graphs in a model offers possibility for implementation of presented methods in analysis of particular events. Implementation of proposed humanization measures in a particular analyzed situation is the basis for creation of safety culture.

  • The major purpose of the present study is to gauge the general applicability of cadastral surveying and LiDAR surveying. LiDAR survey is the method which obtains Geospatial information of the terrain. We will get a most topographic models at Digital Elevation Model(DEM) using LiDAR survey data. Also, we will consider both the surface parcel partition and volume parcel as a part of Geospatial relationship model. This study will focus on enhancing the efficiency and analysis of continual cadastral map and LiDAR DEM. I would like to close by proposing that LiDAR surveying will contribute in cadastral surveying.

HEVC Test Model에서 확장 블록 구조및변환 기술과 성능 분석

  • 최근 ISO/IEC와 ITU는 공동협력팀(Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding-JCT-VC)을 구성하여 HEVC(High Efficiency Video Coding)라 불리는 새로운 비디오 압축 표준 기술을 개발하고 있다. JCT-VC의 목표 중 하나는 H.264/AVC 압축률의 2배를 향상하는 것으로 최근 HEVC 테스트 모델(HEVC Test Model - HM)을 확정했다. HM의 여러 기술 중에서 확장 블록 구조 (large block structure) 기술은 CTB(Coded Tree Block)와 TU(Transform Unit), PU(Partition Unit)로 구성된다. CTB와 TU는 압축 단위와 변환 기술을 확장한 반복적인 문법구조(recursive syntax structure)이며, PU는 H.264/AVC과 동일한형태를 띈다. 확장 블록 구조는CTB, PU, TU의 여러 조합에 의해 다양한 모드를 지원하여 압축 성능은 높아졌지만 HM 부호화기의 복잡도는 증가한다. 본 논문에서는 HM에 채택된 확장블록구조 및 변환 기술에 대해 설명한 후, TMuC 및 HM의 테스트 영상을 이용하여 다양한 최대 CTB 및 TU 크기의 압축성능 및 선택비율을 분석한다.

  • We propose a new method of path planning for cleaning robots. Path planning problem for cleaning robots is different from conventional path planning problems in which finding a collision-free trajectory from a start point to a goal point is focused. In the case of cleaning robots, however, a planned path should cover all area to be cleaned. To resolve this problem in a systematic way, we propose a method based on a graph model as follows: at first, partition a given map into proper regions, then transform a divided region to a vertex and a connectivity between regions to an edge of a graph. Finally, a region is divided into sub-regions so that the graph has a unary tree which is the simplest Hamilton path. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by computer simulation results.

  • We propose a novel neuro-fuzzy system based on an efficient clustering method. It is a very useful method that improves the performance of a fuzzy model with small number of fuzzy rules. The fuzzy clustering methods are studied in the wide range of fuzzy modeling. One of them, the grid partition method has problem of exponentially increasing number of rules when the dimension of input or number of membership function is linearly increased. On the other hand, the Expectation Maximization algorithm is an efficient estimation for unknown parameters of the Gaussian mixture model.   • We present an intelligent optical switching structure based on our lambda-group model along with a working scheme that can provide a distinctive approach for dividing complicated traffic into specific tunnels for better optical performance and grooming efficiency. Both the results and figures from our experiments show that the particular channel partition not only helps in reducing ports significantly, but also improves the average signal-to-noise ratio of the wavelength channel and the blocking performance for dynamic connection requests.

자율이동로봇의 안전주행을 위한 주행성 맵 작성 (Development of a Traversability Map for Safe Navigation of Autonomous Mobile Robots)

  • This paper presents a method for developing a TM (Traversability Map) from a DTM (Digital Terrain Model) collected by remote sensors of autonomous mobile robots. Such a map can be used to plan traversable paths and estimate navigation speed quantitatively in real time for robots capable of performing autonomous tasks over rough terrain environments. The proposed method consists of three parts: a DTM partition module which divides the DTM into equally spaced patches, a terrain information module which extracts the slope and roughness of the partitioned patches using the curve fitting and the fractal-based triangular prism method, and a traversability analysis module which assesses traversability incorporating with extracted terrain information and fuzzy inference to construct a TM. The potential of the proposed method is validated via simulation works over a set of fractal DTMs.

초기값의 최적 설정에 의한 최적화용 신경회로망의 성능개선 (Improving the Performances of the Neural Network for Optimization by Optimal Estimation of Initial States)

  • This paper proposes a method for improving the performances of the neural network for optimization by an optimal estimation of initial states. The optimal initial state that leads to the global minimum is estimated by using the stochastic approximation. And then the update rule of Hopfield model, which is the high speed deterministic algorithm using the steepest descent rule, is applied to speed up the optimization. The proposed method has been applied to the tavelling salesman problems and an optimal task partition problems to evaluate the performances. The simulation results show that the convergence speed of the proposed method is higher than conventinal Hopfield model. Abe's method and Boltzmann machine with random initial neuron output setting, and the convergence rate to the global minimum is guaranteed with probability of 1. The proposed method gives better result as the problem size increases where it is more difficult for the randomized initial setting to give a good convergence.

  • The channel-type lining board that partial welded on many partition frames is used to normal servicing lining board type. On this study is to investigate existing channel-type lining board's capacity by using the static loading test. From this study, to develop new-type lining board which reflect well cross section area and sectional modulus of existing channel-type lining board. Six types FEM model are adopted. The accumulated test results of stress conditions and deflections by section shapes will be used to analyzed the relation between the capacity and the section shape. With the comparing the results of static loading test and FEM analysis.

A Study on the Absorption Mechanism of Drugs through Biomembranes

  • The effect of lipophilicity on the mechanisms of drug absorption through biomembranes was investigated empolying HPLC system and the fluorescence technique. Human erythrocyte ghost membranes were used as a model biomembrane. A series of four parabens (methyl, ethyl, rpopyl, and butyl) and p-hydroxybenzoic acid were used as the model drugs for lipophilicities and their partition coefficients were measured in Sorensen's phosphate buffer solution (pH 5)/octanol system. Absorption amount of parabens through erythrocyte ghost membranes increased with an increase of lipophilicity resulted from the addition of methylene group to the n-alkyl chain of parabens. And the effect of parabens on the fluidity of ghost membrane also increased with an increase of their lipophilicities.
