Tungsten alloys are used widely in general industrial fields, but they are difficult to cast, so products are manufactured using powder metallurgy. In this study, a mixed powder of tungsten, nickel, and iron homogenized using a ball mill was added to pure water as a solvent, and PVA as a binder was added to prepare a spray drying mixture. The mixed liquid was prepared using a spraying machine. A study was carried out to produce a granular powder that can reduce the variations between products during the molding and sintering process of the powder metallurgy method. A preliminary experiment was conducted to confirm the influence of the variables in the granulation process. Through the preliminary test results, this experiment was performed with the volume of solvent of the spray drying the mixture as an independent variable, and granular powder having a mean particle size similar to that of the existing mass-production conditions and an increased apparent density was prepared. In addition, a pilot test was conducted for the molding and sintering process. The improved granular powder reduced the characteristic variation (weight variation) of the mass-produced product.

Objective : To study the physiochemical characteristics of podophyllotoxin (PPT) conjugated stearic acid grafted chitosan oligosaccharide micelle (PPT-CSO-SA), and evaluate the ability of the potential antineoplastic effects against glioma cells. Methods : PPT-CSO-SA was prepared by a dialysis method. The quality of PPT-CSO-SA including micellar size, zeta potential, drug encapsulation efficiency and drug release profiles was evaluated. Glioma cells were cultured and treated with PPT and PPT-CSO-SA. The ability of glioma cells to uptake PPT-CSO-SA was observed. The proliferation of glioma cells was determined by 3-[4, 5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl]-2, 5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The apoptosis and morphology of U251 cells were observed by 4',6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole dihydrochloride (DAPI) dye staining. Cell cycle analysis was performed by flow cytometry. The migration ability of U251 cells was determined by wound healing test. Results : PPT-CSO-SA had nano-level particle size and sustained release property. The encapsulation efficiency of drug reached a high level. The cellular uptake percentage of PPT in glioma cells was lower than that of PPT-CSO-SA (p<0.05). The inhibitory effect of PPT-CSO-SA on glioma cells proliferation was significantly stronger than that of PPT (p<0.05). The morphologic change of apoptosis cell such as shrinkage, karyorrhexis and karyopyknosis were observed. The percentage of U251 cells in G2/M phase increased significantly in the PPT-CSO-SA group compared with PPT group (p<0.05). Compared with the PPT group, the cell migration ability of the PPT-CSO-SA group was significantly inhibited after 12 and 24 hours (p<0.05). Conclusion : PPT-CSO-SA can effectively enhance the glioma cellular uptake of drugs, inhibit glioma cells proliferation and migration, induce G2/M phase arrest of them, and promote their apoptosis. It may be a promising anti-glioma nano-drug.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of new materials with forest topsoil for hydroseeding measures that is environmentally and ecologically stable revegetation measures on rock cut-slopes. Field hydroseeding experiment was used with a completely randomized design at highway rock cut-slopes in April, 1997. Results obtained in this study were summarized as follows: Particle size distribution of 3 mixed-soil materials that consisted of forest topsoil, decomposed granite soil, compost, sludge, and bottom ash did not show a significant difference. As appending the amount of forest topsoil, soil bulk density was increased. Soil hardness was slightly increased in early period, and then decreased with the flourishing of plants. The number of individuals increased, more than $3,000seedlings/m^2$, after 1 month, and it was decreased as time passes because of competition between the seeded species and the naturally emerged species. In addition to the seeded species, seeding plot has more than 6 species (Rubus crataegifolius, Eleusine indica, Erigeron canadensis, Lycopersicon esculentum var. cerasiforme, etc.) per $m^2$ were naturally appeared in the first year. From the viewpoint of species diversity promotion, the capability of using forest topsoil as seed bank sources was high. In order to apply in the field, the investigation and analysis of topsoil availability (quantity and quality of seed source, soil texture and organic composition) should be carried out before-hand.
Microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) processes for removal of particulate materials (i.e., turbidity, microorganisms and viruses) have been used to produce drinking water with higher quality. As membrane filtration technique has become widely applied for drinking water treatment, the importance of membrane integrity test (MIT) has also been increasingly emphasized. The results of pressure decay test (PDT) were presented in the paper to monitor membrane integrity. In this paper the PDT was carried out with deliberately-defected membrane fibers to evaluate the sensitivity of PDT on membrane fiber damage. Variation of pressure decay rate and removal rate were investigated to evaluate the impact of defection (defection ratio) and pore size of membrane. The membrane integrity could be successfully monitored by the PDT. The pressure decay rate varied from $0.002{\sim}0.189kg_f/cm^2hr$ with the initial pressure ranged from 0.2 to $1.0kg_f/cm^2hr$. Higher initial pressure which provided with higher pressure decay rate was preferred to evaluate the defection of membrane fiber. As for the particle removal rate, the Log Removal Rate (LRV) of kaolin solution decreased significantly from 3.78 to 2.31 when one fiber out of 3,200 fibers was cut. The membranes with different pore size were tested to evaluate virus removal efficiency. The virus removal rate of the MF membrane ($0.1{\mu}m$) was about 30% although the poliovirus was smaller than the pore size of the MF membrane, indicating that the removal rate was much lower than Korea Water Works Association (KWWA) certificate LRV of 1.5.
The objective of this research was to investigate physicochemical properties of waxy sorghum flours by different milling methods (pin mill and ultra fine mill). Four different sorghum flours were used for the experiments ; PWS (pin milled whole sorghum flour), PS (pin milled sorghum flour without bran), UFWS (ultra fine milled whole sorghum flour), UFS (ultra fine milled sorghum flour without bran). The contents of crude ash and total dietary fiber were the highest in PWS. Amylose content of pin milled sorghum flour was higher than that of ultra fine milled flour. The mean particle size of pin milled flours was six times lager than ultra fine milled flours. The L values of UFS and UFWS were higher than those of PS and PWS, whereas a and b values were higher in PWS. The water binding capacity was highest in UFWS, and solubility was higher in PS and UFS. Swelling power of flours was highest in UFS. The damaged starch content was higher in PS and UFS, which means damaged starch of sorghum flours significantly affected by polishing than milling method. The pasting properties were higher in the pin milled flours. Initial pasting temperature of pin milled flour was ranging from 70.5 to $73.1^{\circ}C$, which are higher than ultra fine milled flour ($68.6^{\circ}C$). The contents of total polyphenol were higher in PWS and UFWS than those of PS and UFS, there was no difference between the two milling methods. The results of this study indicate that physicochemical properties of sorghum flour were affected by milling methods as well as bran.

In this study, drying and carbonization experiment was conducted in a fluidized bed reactor according to the variations in gas velocity, particle size, and reactor temperature. As a result, the weight loss rates of sludge by drying in the fixed bed and fluidized bed type dryer showed that drying in the fluidized bed was about 6 times faster than drying in the fixed bed, and the weight loss rates of sludge by carbonization in the fixed bed and fluidized bed type reactor showed that carbonization in the fluidized bed was about 4 times faster than drying in the fixed bed. This implies that carbonization in the fluidized bed was completed within 10 minutes. Although the amount of char decreased with the increase of carboniration temperature, the amount of char became similar at upper 873K. Also, the amount of char decreased with increasing gas velocity. Consequently, it could be efficient that slow fluidization should be maintained within the range of fluidization in case of fluidized carbonization of sewage sludge at 873K.

The aim of this research is providing the fundamental data for treating and recycling the byproducts by using the wet processed bottom ash as a fine aggregate replacement for cement-based extruded panel. Although the cement-based extruded panel was used mainly as a cladding component with its high strength and outstanding durability, it was hardly spread because of low economic feasibility due to the high cost of additives or fibers which were used to achieve 14 MPa of flexural strength as a cladding material. As a solution of this drawback, by the previous research, it was possible to replace cement by fly ash up to 80 % by decreasing quality criteria with restricting the application to indoor purpose. In this research, based on the previous research, by using the bottom ash as a replacement of fly ash, improvement of shape retention performance is tried. As a result of the experiment on evaluating the optimum content and PSD of bottom ash, as the fineness modulus and content of bottom ash was increased, the extruding performance was decreased and penetration resistance was increased. Additionally, the optimum content and the maximum particle size was found as 20 %, and 0.3 mm, respectively.

This study is performed to analyze the effects of CASB by applying the superplasticizer combined CASB on the ultra high strength mortar and concrete that uses different mineral admixture depending on whether the silica fume was used and the results are summarized below. From the characteristics of Fresh mortar and concrete, the fluidity was lower in B2-CASB than B2-PC from the mixing of CASB and based on the viscosity of the mortar and concrete in the binary proportion but in the ternary proportion, B3-CASB showed a larger fluidity than B3-PC because of a reduction in the restriction level due to the effects of an improvement of particle size distribution. The compression strength was higher in ternary proportion than in binary proportion and higher in CASB than in PC from the characteristics of hardening mortar and concrete and this is analyzed as a result of increased minuteness from the calcium silicate hydrates produced from the pozzolan reaction of a mineral admixture, SF, and also the charging effects of capillary pore of CASB. Overall, when using the nanomaterial, CASB in combination with a superplasticizer, the fluidity and the strength aspects of the ternary proportion of ultra high strength mortar and concrete with silica fume may be improved to a higher quality.
Various metal ions (transition and base metals) incorporated MCM-41 catalysts can be synthesized using colloidal and soluble silica with non-sodium involved process. Transition metal ion-typically $V^{5+}$, $Co^{2+}$, and $Ni^{2+}$-incorporated MCM-41 catalysts were synthesized by isomorphous substitution of Si ions in the framework. Each incorporated metal ion created a single species in the silica framework, single-site solid catalyst, showing a substantial stability in reduction and catalytic activity. Radius of pore curvature effect was investigated with Co-MCM-41 by temperature programmed reduction (TPR). The size of metallic Co clusters, sub-nanometer, could be controlled by a proper reduction treatment of Co-MCM-41 having different pore size and the initial pH adjustment of the Co-MCM-41 synthesis solution. These small metallic clusters showed a high stability under a harsh reaction condition without serious migration, resulting from a direct anchoring of small metallic clusters to the partially or unreduced metal ions on the surface. After a complete reduction, partial occlusion of the metallic cluster surface by amorphous silica stabilized the particles against aggregations. As a probe reaction of particle size sensitivity, carbon single wall nanotubes (SWNT) were synthesized using Co-MCM-41. A metallic cluster stability test was performed by CO methanation using Co- and Ni-MCM-41. Methanol and methane partial oxidations were carried out with V-MCM-41, and the radius of pore curvature effect on the catalytic activity was investigated.
Dewatering process to remove water from pigment sludge was important in the diverse aspects of the improvement of product quality, curtailment of the drying cost and the transportation. It was difficult to dewater pigment particles with the mechanical forces because the size was fine under $5{\mu}m$. Thermal filter press dewatering equipment composed of squeezing plate and a fixed heating plate was developed to improve the dewaterability of pigment the sludge as supplying the heat from the fixed heating plate to the cake. Several tests that estimate the dewaterability for pigment sludge as with or without squeezing process and the difference of dewatering time was conducted with this equipment. Dewaterability of thermal dewatering under squeezing process was increased about 20% compared with non squeezing process. Under squeezing process, thermal dewatering tests changing dewatering time with 70 and 80 minute were conducted respectively. The water content of cake was more reduced at dewatering time of 80 minute compared with 70 minute, and dewatering velocity was also decreased, which caused the productivity of thermal filter press to drop. It was observed that clogging of filter cloth didn't almost occur because the liquid was discharged from cake layer easily. In this research, it was resulted that the squeezing process and long dewatering time were effective to improve the dewaterability of pigment sludge. So, this thermal filter press equipment was useful for dewatering the fine particle sludge like pigment.
