Intelligent vehicle plans motion and navigate itself based on the surrounding environment perception. Hence, the precise environment recognition is an essential part of self-driving vehicle. There exist many vulnerable road users (e.g. vehicle, pedestrians) on vehicular driving environment, the vehicle must percept all the dynamic obstacles accurately for safety. In this paper, we propose an multiple vehicle tracking algorithm using microwave radar. Our proposed system includes various special features. First, exceptional radar measurement model for vehicle, concentrated on the corner, is described by mixture density network (MDN), and applied to particle filter weighting. Also, to conquer the curse of dimensionality of particle filter and estimate the time-varying number of multi-target states, reversible jump markov chain monte carlo (RJMCMC) is used to sampling step of the proposed algorithm. The robustness of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated through several computer simulations.
In this paper, we propose a method to improve the Firefly Algorithm(FA) introduced by Xin-She Yang, recently. We design and analyze the improved firefly algorithm based on the heuristic. We compare the FA with the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) which the problem domain is similar with the FA in terms of accuracy, algorithm convergence time, the motion of each particle. The compare experiments show that the accuracy of FA is not worse than PSO's, but the convergence time of FA is slower than PSO's. In this paper, we consider intuitive reasons of slow convergence time problem of FA, and propose the improved version of FA using a partial mutation heuristic based on the consideration. The experiments using benchmark functions show the accuracy and convergence time of the improved FA are better than them of PSO and original FA.

A numerical technique for simulating the aggregation of charged particles was presented with a Brownian dynamic simulation in the free molecular regime. The Langevin equation was used for tracking each particle making up an aggregate. A periodic boundary condition was used for calculation of the aggregation process in each cell with 500 primary particles of 16 nm in diameter. We considered the thermal force and the electrostatic force for the calculation of the particle motion. The electrostatic force on a particle in the simulation cell was considered as a sum of electrostatic forces from other particles in the original cell and its replicate cells. We assumed that the electric charges accumulated on an aggregate were located on its center of mass, and aggregates were only charged with pre-charged primary particles. The morphological shape of aggregates was described in terms of the fractal dimension. In the simulation, the fractal dimension for the uncharged aggregate was D$\_$f/ = 1.761. The fractal dimension changed slightly for the various amounts of bipolar charge. However, in case of unipolar charge, the fractal dimension decreased from 1.641 to 1.537 with the increase of the average number of charges on the particles from 0.2 to 0.3 in initial states. In the bipolar charge state, the average sizes of aggregates were larger than that of the uncharged state in the early and middle stages of aggregation process, but were almost the same as the case of the uncharged state in the final stage. On the other hand, in the unipolar charge state, the average size of aggregates and the dispersion of particle volume decreased with the increasing of the charge quantities.
To ascertain the characteristics of pool sloshing behavior that might be encountered during a core disruptive accident of sodium-cooled fast reactors, in our earlier work several series of experiments were conducted under various scenarios including the condition with mono-sized solid particles. It is found that under the particle-bed condition, three typical flow regimes (namely the bubble-impulsion dominant regime, the transitional regime and the bed-inertia dominant regime) could be identified and a flow-regime model (base model) has been even successfully established to estimate the regime transition. In this study, aimed to further understand this behavior at more realistic particle-bed conditions, a series of simulated experiments is newly carried out using mixed-size particles. Through analyses, it is verified that for present scenario, by applying the area mean diameter, our previously-developed base model can provide the most appropriate predictive results among the various effective diameters. To predict the regime transition with a form of extension scheme, a correction factor which is based on the volume-mean diameter and the degree of convergence in particle-size distribution is suggested and validated. The conducted analyses in this work also indicate that under certain conditions, the potential separation between different particle components might exist during the sloshing process.

Moving object tracking techniques can be considered as one of the most essential technique in the video understanding of which the importance is much more emphasized recently. However, irregularity of light condition in the video, variations in shape and size of object, camera motion, and occlusion make it difficult to tracking moving object in the video. Swarm based methods are developed to improve the performance of Kalman filter and particle filter which are known as the most representative conventional methods, but these methods also need to consider dynamic property of moving object. This paper proposes adaptive parameter control method which can dynamically change weight value among parameters in particle swarm optimization. The proposed method classifies each particle to 3 groups, and assigns different weight values to improve object tracking performance. Experimental results show that our scheme shows considerable improvement of performance in tracking objects which have nonlinear movements such as occlusion or unexpected movement.

Temperature-dependent stress analysis and heat transfer analysis of a rotating gas turbine blade made of functionally graded materials (FGMs) are presented considering turbine operating temperature and ceramic particle size. The material properties of functionally graded materials are assumed to vary continuously and smoothly across the thickness of the thin-walled blade. For obtaining system stiffness reflecting these characteristics, the one-dimensional heat transfer equation is applied along the thickness of the thin-walled blade for determining the temperature distribution. Using the results of the temperature analysis, the equations of motion of a rotating blade are derived with hybrid deformation variable modeling method along with the Rayleigh-Ritz assumed mode methods. The validity of the derived rotating blade model is evaluated by comparing its transient responses and temperature distribution with the results obtained using a commercial finite element code. The maximum tensile stress with operating speed and gradient index are obtained. Furthermore, the gradient index that minimizes blade temperature was investigated.
In the desert and Gobi regions with strong wind and large sediment discharge, sand transporting engineering is more effective than sand blocking and sand fixing measures in sand prevention. This study uses the discrete phase model of 3D numerical simulation to study the motion trail, motion state and distribution rule of sand particles with different grain diameters when the included angle between the main shaft of the feather-row lateral transportation sand barrier and the wind direction changes, and conducts a comparison in combination with the wind tunnel test and the flow field rule of common sand barrier. According to the comparison, when wind-sand incoming flow passes through a feather-row sand barrier, sand particles slow down and deposit within the deceleration area under the resistance of the feather-row sand barrier, move along the transportation area formed by the transportation force, and accumulate as a ridge at the tail of the engineering. With increasing wind speed, the eolian erosion of the sand particles to the ground and the feather-row sand barrier is enhanced, and the sand transporting quantity and throw-over quantity of the feather-row sand barrier are both increased. When sand particles with different grain diameters bypass the feather-row sand barrier, the particle size of the infiltrating sands will increase with the included angle between the main shaft of the feather-row sand barrier and the wind direction. The obtained result demonstrates that, at a constant wind speed, the flow field formed is most suitable for the lateral transportation of the wind-drift flow when the included angle between the main shaft of the feather-row sand barrier lateral transportation engineering and the wind speed is less than or equal to $30^{\circ}$.

The conventional model did not take momentum conservation into consideration when the electron absorbs and emits the photons. II-ray provides momentum conservations on any directions of the entering photons, and also the electrons have radial momentum conservations and fully elastic bouncing between two atoms, in the new atom model. Conventional atom model must be criticized on the following four points. (1) Natural motions between positive and negative entities are not circular motions but linear going and returning ones, for examples sexual motion, tidal motion, day and night etc. Because the radius of hydrogen atom's electron orbit is the order of 10$^{-11}$ m and the radia of the nucleons in the nucleus are the order of 10$^{-l4}$m and then the converging n-gamma rays to the nucleus have so great circular momentum, the electron can not have a circular motion. We can say without doubt that any elementary mass particle can have only linear motion because of the n-rays' hindrances, near the nucleus. (2) Potential energy generation was neglected when electron changes its orbit from outer one to inner one. The h v is the kinetic energy of the photo-electron. The total energy difference between orbits comprises kinetic and potential energies. (3) The structure of the space must be taken into consideration because the properties of the electron do not change during the transition from outer orbit to inner one even though it produces photon. (4) Total energy conservation law applies to the energy flow between mind and matter because we daily experiences a interconnection between mind and body. An understanding of the mechanisms responsible for the control of normal proliferation and differentiation of the various cell types which make up the human body will undoubtedly allow a greater insight into the abnormal growth of cells, A large body of biochemical evidence was eventually used to generate a receptor model with an external ligand binding domain linked through a single trans-membrane domain to the cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase and autophosphory-lation domains. The ligand induced conformational change in the external domain generates either a push-pull or rotational signal which is transduced from the outside to the inside of cell.l.ell.
Electric propulsion has become a cost effective and sound engineering solution for many space applications. The success of SMART-1 and MUSES-C developed by European Space Agency (ESA) and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) each proved that even small spacecraft could accomplish planetary mission with electric propulsion systems. A small electric propulsion system which is Hall effect thruster like SMART-1 is under development by SaTReC and GDPL (Glow Discharge Plasma Lab.) in KAIST for the next microsatellite, STSAT-3. To achieve optimized propulsion system, it is very necessary to understand plasma motions of Hall effect thruster. In this paper, we try to approach comprehensive plasma model with the particle simulation complementary to Particle In Cell (PIC) simulation. We think these two different approaches will help experimenters to optimize Hall effect thruster performances.

A PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) was applied to measure in-cylinder velocity field according to inlet valve angle during compression stroke. Two engines, one is conventional DOHC 4 valve and the other is narrow valve angle, were used to compare real compression flow. The results show that the flow patterns are well arranged compared with intake flow and the basic tumble flow structures are maintained until end compression stage regardless of valve angle. Also the results show that the tumble motion is intensified by momentum conservation during compression in normal engine. In the normal engine, the bulk shape of flow pattern is "Y" type at the top of cylinder and reverse "Y" type at the bottom of cylinder and weak reverse flow exists at the top of cylinder along cylinder center line. Otherwise, the other engine's flow pattern changes from "Y" type to "T" type at the top of cylinder during compression.
