Purpose In face reocognition area, estimating occlusion in face images is on the rise. In this paper, we propose a new face recognition algorithm based on dual sparse representation to solve this problem. Method Each face image is partitioned into several pieces and sparse representation is implemented in each part. Then, some parts that have large sparse concentration index are combined and sparse representation is performed one more time. Each test sample is classified by using the final sparse coefficient where correlation between the test sample and training sample is applied. Results The recognition rate of the proposed algorithm is higher than that of the basic sparse representation classification. Conclusion The proposed method can be applied in real life which needs to identify someone exactly whether the person disguises his face or not.

A Sparse Point Representation(SPR) based on interpolation wavelets is presented. The SPR is implemented for the purpose of CFD data compression. Unlike conventional wavelet transformation, the SPR relieves computing workload in the similar fashion of lifting scheme that includes splitting and prediction procedures in sequence. However, SPR skips update procedure that is major part of lifting scheme. Data compression can be achieved by proper thresholding method. The advantage of the SPR method is that, by keeping even point physical values, low frequency filtering procedure is omitted and its related unphysical thresholing mechanism can be avoided in reconstruction process. Extra singular feature detection algorithm is implemented for preserving singular features such as shock and vortices. Several numerical tests show the adequacy of SPR for the CFD data. It is also shown that it can be easily extended to nonlinear adaptive wavelets for enhanced feature capturing.
In Korean dialogue honorification phenomenon may occur, an honorific pronoun may be used, and a subject or an object may be completely omitted when it can be recovered based on context. This paper proposes that in order to process Korean dialogue in which such distinct linguistic phenomena occur and to construct its representation structure we mark and use the following information explicitly, not implicitly : information about dialogue participants, information about the speech act of an utterance, information about the relative order of social status for the people involved in dialogue, and information flow among utterances of dialogue. In addition, this paper presents a method of marking and using such situational information and an appropriate representation structure of Korean dialogue. In this paper we set up Korean dialogue representation structure by modifying and extending DRT (Discourse Representation Theory) and SDRT (Segmented Discourse Representation Theory). Futhermore, this paper shows how to process Korean dialogue computationally and construct its representation structure by using Prolog programming language, and then applies such representation structure to spontaneous Korean dialogue to know its validity.

To modify product design easily, modern CAD systems adopt the feature-based model as their primary representation. On the other hand, the boundary representation (B-rep) model is used as their secondary representation. IGES and STEP AP203 edition 1 are the representative standard formats for the exchange of CAD files. Unfortunately, both of them only support the B-rep model. As a result, feature data are lost during the CAD file exchange based on these standards. Loss of feature data causes the difficulty of CAD model modification and prevents the transfer of design intent. To resolve this problem, a tool for recognizing design features from a B-rep model and then reconstructing a feature-based model with the recognized features should be developed. As the first part of this research, this paper presents a method for decomposing a B-rep model into simple volumes suitable for design feature recognition. The results of experiments with a prototype system are analyzed. From the analysis, future research issues are suggested.

ISO 15926 is an international standard for the representation of process plant lifecycle data. However, it is not easy to implement the part 2-data model and the part 4-initial reference data because of their complexity in terms of data structure and shortages of related development toolkits. To overcome this problem, ISO 15926-7(part 7) is under development. ISO 15926-7 specifies implementation methods for sharing and exchange of process plant lifecycle data, which is based on semantic web technologies such as OWL, Web Services, and SPARQL. For the application of ISO 15926-7, this paper discusses how to represent technical specifications of process plant equipment by defining user-defined reference data and object information model with an example of reactor coolant pumps located in the reactor coolant system of an APR 1400 nuclear power plant.
Non-Negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) is a method for updating dictionary and gain in alternating manner. Due to ease of implementation and intuitive interpretation, NMF is widely used to detect and separate overlapping sound events. However, NMF that utilizes non-negativity constraints generates parts-based representation and this distinct property leads to a dictionary containing fragmented acoustic events. As a result, the presence of shared basis results in performance degradation in both separation and detection tasks of overlapping sound events. In this paper, we propose a new method that utilizes K-Singular Value Decomposition (K-SVD) based dictionary to address and mitigate the part-based representation issue during the dictionary learning step. Subsequently, we calculate the gain using NMF in sound event detection step. We evaluate and confirm that overlapping sound event detection performance of the proposed method is better than the conventional method that utilizes NMF based dictionary.

We propose a feature-based multi-resolution representation of B-rep solid models using history-based Boolean operations based on the merge-and-select algorithm. Because union and subtraction are commutative in the history-based Boolean operations, the integrity of the models at various levels of detail (LOD) is guaranteed for the reordered features regardless of whether the features are subtractive or additive. The multi-resolution solid representation proposed in this paper includes a non-manifold topological merged-set model of all feature primitives as well as a feature-modeling tree reordered consistently with a given LOD criterion. As a result, a B-rep solid model for a given LOD can be provided quickly, because the boundary of the model is evaluated without any geometric calculation and extracted from the merged set by selecting the entities contributing to the LOD model shape.
In this paper, we propose a new spatio-temporal representation scheme which can model moving objets trajectories effectively in video data and a new signature-based access method for moving objects trajectories which can support efficient retrieval on user query based on moving objects trajectories. The proposed spatio-temporal representation scheme supports content-based retrieval based on moving objects trajectories and concept-based retrieval based on concepts(semantics) which are acquired through the location information of moving objects trajectories. Also, compared with the sequential search, our signature-based access method can improve retrieval performance by reducing a large number of disk accesses because it access disk using only retrieved candidate signatures after it first scans all signatures and performs filtering before accessing the data file. Finally, we show the experimental results that proposed scheme is superior to the Li and Shan's scheme in terns of both retrieval effectiveness and efficiency.

OWL(Web Ontology Language) is the Ontology Standard Language and the a lot of Ontologies are being constructed in OWL. But the research on the extension of OWL is also progressing because of the limit of representation power of in OWL language. The W3C suggests the SWRL(Semantic Web Rule Language) based on the combination of OWL and RuleML(Rule Markup Language), which is improved in the representation of rule. Thus, both OWL and SWRL are used for developing ontologies. However, research on inference of ontologies written in both languages is just begun. These day, for the inference of ontologies written in both languages, ontologies and divided in to two parts. The part written in OWL and written in SWRL. For the inference of the part written in OWL, Racer, a DL based inference engine, is used and for the other part Jess, a rule-based engine, is used. In this paper, we will propose three methods for integrated inference of the OWL part and the SWRL part of ontologies using Jess and some tools for ontology inference : OWLJessKB and SWRL Factory
