  • Recently, serious parking problems are occurring due to the difficulty of securing sufficient parking space, and it may lead to other traffic or social problems. In order to solve the parking problem in areas and districts beyond a certain range, a study on-roads and off-street parking lots reflecting regional characteristics is necessary. Therefore, this study establishing a parking demand calculation model for use as a basic study in establishing on-road and off-road characteristics. In order to conduct the study, Dong-fu, Daegu Metropolitan City was divided into dongs, and parking facilities and parking demand were investigated. The survey time was divided into daytime and nighttime on weekdays, and the types of vehicles were divided into three types: passenger car, small trucks and buses, large trucks and buses. As explanatory variables for calculating parking demand, the total floor area of buildings for each of six purposes was used, including detached houses, apartment houses, neighborhood living facilities, cultural and assembly facilities, business facilities, and sales facilities. As a result of the correlation analysis, among the six explanatory variables, the total area of neighborhood living facilities showed a significant correlation with on- and off-street parking demand. A regression analysis model was constructed using the total area of neighborhood living facilities as an explanatory variable, and statistically significant results were obtained.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze factors for resolving problems of Jejusi Residential Parking Permit Program and to draw up a plan by examining Jejusi case. This program was started by way of showing an example in October, 2005, and then has been put in practice in the heart of Jejusi since October, 2007. Jejusi government introduced this system to prevent all kinds of accidents by the indiscreet parking near the residental street and to guarantee the rights to live comfortably by encouraging a pleasant parking environment. As the result of the survey which is about residents' participation from the process of decision-making, the answers such as "Should Participate" and "Surely should participate" are at the high rate of 87.5 percent. A matter of the utmost importance is that this system should be reformed to make the visitors pay parking if they want to park near there. Almost 36 percent of the respondents have a negative opinion, and this is because they consider their visitors. Especially the important factors from the Logistic Regression Analysis are that the government should exercise stricter control over illegal parking, that the system should be improved for the visitors to pay parking, and that the government should support the declining sales of the shops near shopping streets. The suggestions are as follows. First, the government should enforce on reducing the illegal parking. Second, they should secure the parking lots for visitors. Third, they should minimize the impact on the declining sales of the shops near shopping streets.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the most reasonable design in the superstructure of an underground parking lot which needs to be considered with the economic efficiency being influenced on the subdivision price, construction duration, workability and the maintenance of crack and leakage status of apartment house. In this research, we've evaluated the fitness for the superstructure of an underground parking lot by examination of construction constraint, which was based on the calculated data of structural design and quantity survey. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1. The system of the absent structure of beam is proper structure for economic efficiency, construction duration and workability, but it is disadvantageous at the side of maintenance efficiency because of the many part of large slab. In the opposite direction, the establishing structure of beam has the advantages of structural stability except economic efficiency, construction duration and workability 2. It's required a proper selection for the views being contrary to each other which the owners considers good quality, on the other hand, the contractors consider construction duration and workability. 3. In making a selection for the superstructure of an underground parking lot, we have concluded that it is the most important to choose the proper structure for the demanded performance by contrasting with two system. • The purpose of this study is to develope an assessment method for parking lot remodeling alternative by adopting the asset management technique. In order to identify the Level of Service(LOS) and the Evaluation Measurement(EM), literatures was implemented which documented the consideration of parking lot plan, needs of the apartments' tenant, and various design standards. In addition, the authors conducted a three-time delphi survey for the identified 5 LOS and 19 EM to evaluate suitability and necessity of them and to collect additional opinion of experts. The LOS of parking lot were categorized into 5 areas such as Environmental effect and Convenience, Accessibility and so on. The 19 EM were determined to estimate the LOS quantitatively. The researchers analyzed the degree of importance of LOS and EM by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. But construction cost was excepted from the analysis, because it is used as an independent variable in alternative assessment. In conclusion, the authors proposed the estimation criteria for EM, and the method and process for alternative assessment be performed to benefit-cost analysis using the LOS variation and construction cost. The assessment method for parking lot remodeling alternative was demonstrated effective to assess the parking lot remodeling alternative by case-study. This study has a academic significance by adopting the asset management techniques in the area of the parking lot remodeling. And the assessment method is expected to help deciding a reasonable remodeling alternative of parking lot, as it ensures the diversity for remodeling of the parking lot and reflects the needs of the occupant.

  • Due to the rapid economic growth within the nation, the quality of life of individuals have improved dramatically. The scope of living activities of individuals have also extended, resulting in a rapidly increasing demand for automobiles. The number of vehicles registered in Korea is rapidly increasing and will reach 188.71 million as of December 2012. Compared to the registered residents of 50.94 million provided by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the registered population reflects about 4 people per every automobile. Due to the high demands for vehicles, the demands for parking lots in collective housing and businesses are also increasing. In reality, the current state of expansion of parking lots are underground, due to the limited available space on ground level. Specifically, the slope of a parking lot cannot exceed 17% linear slope and 14% curved slope according to the 'parking lot laws', however studies show that the driver feels at risk for safety when stopped on the parking ramp while driving in the parking lot. This study seeks to examine the suitability of parking lot ramps, concerning the safety aspects of the driver. First, the ramp type was categorized as linear or curved, then test drives were performed based on variations of slopes, slant distances, directions and points. A survey was administered to the driver after the completion of the test drive, in order to element design for an ideal ramp. In the case of curved ramp, the results of the estimate suggests a counterclockwise, slope at a maximum of 12% incline. The maximum slope for a linear ramp was analyzed to be between 13~14%, suggesting that slope greater than 15% need to be eliminated. In conclusion, it is anticipated that the element design parking ramp reported in this study will help to serve as a reference for future parking lot related guidelines, and provide cost effective traffic safety mechanisms in future parking lot businesses to follow.
