  • In this paper, we aim to estimate two scale-parameters of exponentiated Pareto distribution (EPD) based on lower record values. Record values arise naturally in many real life applications involving data relating to weather, sport, economics and life testing studies. We calculate the Bayesian estimators for the two parameters of EPD based on lower record values. The Bayes estimators of two parameters for the EPD with lower record values under the squared error loss (SEL), linex loss (LL) and entropy loss (EL) functions are provided. Lindley's approximate method is used to compute these estimators. We compare the Bayesian estimators in the sense of the bias and root mean squared estimates (RMSE).

  • This study presents the process of the solenoid parameter estimation of an common-rail injector fer HSDI(High Speed Direct Injection) diesel engines. The EMF(Electromotive Force) and solenoid inductance are the major parameters for presenting the injector dynamics, and also these parameters are estimated by using a multi-layer feedforward artificial neural networks(ANN). The performances of parameter estimators are verified by the simulation with injector model. The feasibility of this methodology is closely examined through the simulation in the various operating points of injector. The simulation results have revealed that estimated parameters show favorable agreements with the common-rail injector model.

  • This paper proposes the hybrid Complex-PSO algorithm based on the complex search method and particle swarm optimization (PSO) for unconstrained optimization. This hybridization intends to produce faster and more accurate convergence to the optimum value. These hybrid will concentrate on determining the dynamic load model parameters, the ZIP model and induction motor model parameters. Measurement-based parameter estimation, which employs measurement data to derive load model parameters, is used. The theoretical foundation of the measurement-based approach is system identification. The main objective of this paper is to demonstrate how the standard particle swarm optimization and complex method can be improved through hybridization of the two methods and the results will be compared with that of their original forms.

  • In this paper, a practical design criteria for judgement of crack occurrence in weldments is presented as a function of typical welding parameters, such as diffusible hydrogen, restraint intensity, and preheating temperature. The elastic analyses using the finite element techniques are employed in order to quantify the restraint intensities, numerically. Systematic experiments are also conducted in order to investigate the propensity of crack to typical welding parameters. The results of numerical estimation using the proposed method for the experimental specimens show the usefulness as a practical tool in welding induced crack problems with extensive uncertainties. • The main purpose of this study is to obtain linear models for the design of automatic flight controller in order to operate the Light Sport Aircraft as unmanned air vehicle. Flight test equipments installed on the aircraft to acquire flight test data are described and maneuvers for practical speed calibration are introduced. Parameters for the linear models of lateral and longitudinal motion are estimated by the Output error method as well as trim data analysis using the flight test data. Simulated data using the estimated parameters is shown to agree well with the measurement data. Estimated parameters obtained for several flight conditions can be used to improve the aerodynamic database of the simulation program.

  • Earth equipments are essential to protect humans and other types of equipment from abnormal conditions. Earth resistance and potential must be restricted within a low value. An estimation algorithm of earth parameters and equivalent resistivity is introduced to calculate reliable earth resistance in this research. The proposed algorithm is based on the relationship between apparent resistances and earth parameters. The proposed algorithm, which approximates the non-linear characteristics of earth by using the Artificial Neural Network (ANN), estimates the earth parameters and equivalent resistivity. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified with case studies.

  • This paper presents an estimation technique of the equivalent circuit parameters for an underwater acoustic piezoelectric transducer from the measured impedance. Estimated equivalent circuit can be used for the design of the impedance matching network of the sonar transmitter. A fitness function is proposed to minimize the error between the calculated impedance of the equivalent circuit and the measured impedance of the transducer. The equivalent circuit parameters are estimated by using the fitness function and the PSO(Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the applications to a sandwich-type transducer and a dummy load. In addition, the impedance matching network is also designed by using the estimated equivalent circuit model.

  • The performance variation of a multibody system is affected by a variation of various design variables of the system. And the effects of design variable variations on the performance variation must be considered in design of a multibody system. Accordingly, a variation analysis of a multibody system needs to be conducted in design of a multibody system. For a variation analysis of a performance, population mean and variance which are called statistical parameters of design variables are needed. However, an evaluation of statistical parameters of design variables is impossible in many practical cases. Therefore, an estimation of statistical parameters of the performance based on sample mean and variance which are called statistic of design variables is needed. In this paper, the variation analysis method for a multibody system based on design variable samples was proposed. And, using the proposed method, a variation analysis of the vehicle ride comfort based on sample statistic of design variables was conducted.

  • In this paper, we propose a model-based fault diagnosis method applied to vibration data. The fault detection is performed by comparing estimated parameters with normal parameters and deciding if the observed changes can be explained satisfactorily in terms of noise or undermodelling. The key feature of this method is that it accounts for the effects of noise and model mismatch. And we aslo design a classifier for the fault isolation by applying the multiclass SVM (Support Vector Machine) to the estimated parameters. The proposed fault detection and isolation methods are applied to an engine vibration data to show a good performance. The proposed fault detection method is compared with a signal-based fault detection method through a performance analysis.

  • In this paper we present a new vector control scheme for induction motor. An exact knowledge of the rotor flux position is essential for a high-performance vector control. The position of the rotor flux is measured in the direct scheme or estimated in the indirect schemes. Since the estimation of the flux position requires a priori knowledge of the induction motor parameters, the indirect schemes are machine parameter dependent. The rotor resistance and stator resistance among the parameters change with temperature. Variations in the parameters of induction machine cause deterioration of both the steady state and dynamic operation of the induction motor drive. Several methods have been presented to minimize the consequences of parameter sensitivity in indirect scheme. In this paper new estimation scheme of rotor flux position is presented to eliminate sensitivity due to resistance change with temperature. Simulation results are used to verify the performance of the proposed vector control scheme.
