To obtain basic data for the utilization of saltwort (Salicornia herbacea L.) as a functional ingredient in steamed foam cake, the optimum component ratios for major raw ingredients (saltwort, salt, and wheat flour) as independent variables that affect the product quality were scientifically determined using RSM (response surface methodology) technique. A three-factor and five-level rotational central composite design was used for treatment arrangement. The complete design consisted of 16 experimental points. The three independent variables selected for the RSM experiment were amounts of saltwort (X$_1$, 5${\sim}$25 g), salt (X$_2$, 0${\sim}$10 g), and wheat flour (X$_3$, 470${\sim}$530 g). The optimum responses in specific gravity of the batter and volume, color, texture, and sensory evaluation result of the cake were obtained. The specific gravity and viscosity of the batter at p<0.01 was verified from the regression curve. The characteristic of the batter was influenced by all independent variables, but was extremely dependent on the amount of saltwort ordinary points of the surface responses from the batter formed the minimum points for specific gravities of the batter while viscosities of the batter appeared with the saddle points. Analysis of the response indicated that the amount of saltwort was the most influential factor over the physical properties of the cake, among the dependent variables. Ordinary points of the surface responses from the cake formed the maximum points for loaf volume, hardness gumminess, and chewiness, while Hunter colorimetric parameters appeared with the saddle points. The result indicated that level of the saltwort deviating more or less from the optimal amount decreased the volume and increased the specific gravity with less tender product. Ordinary points of the surface responses of the sensory evaluation scores from the cake formed the maximum points for appearance, flavor, softness, and overall acceptability, while color values appeared with the saddle points. The result also indicated that the level of the saltwort deviating more or less from the optimal amount reduced the preference for the product. Integration of the optimum responses common to all dependent variables that overlapped all the contour maps finally indicated that the combination of 8.3${\sim}$13.8 g saltwort, 2.5${\sim}$6.6 g salt, and 486.5${\sim}$511.5 g wheat flour under the selected preparation recipe optimized the physical and sensory properties in the teamed foam cakes. Practical preparation of the product with median amounts of the ingredients, i.e., 11.0 g saltwort, 4.6 g salt, and 499.0 g wheat flour resulted in similar qualities to the predicted responses. In conclusion, these study results indicated that preparation of steamed foam cake with added saltwort ingredient could potentially produce a more nutritious product with less salt. Further research is required to acquire the optimum levels for sub-ingredients to improve the product quality.
The performance of drip irrigation devices depends on flow uniformity related to the function of pressure compensation. The flow uniformity can be secured when the internal fluid pressures at the positions of the flow holes are maintained uniformly. The pressure compensation effect of the drip irrigation devices can be optimized with the combination of soft silicon and labyrinth structures. However, for a drip irrigation devices composed of only hard labyrinth structures, the flow rate is changed largely with the length and the internal geometry of the labyrinth structure. Although a drip irrigation devices with only hard labyrinth structures can be fabricated simply, the changes of flow rates with internal fluid pressures are much larger than those of the drip irrigation devices with soft silicon. Because the drip irrigation devices with only labyrinth structures can be utilized widely through the optimization of the fluid pressure, the length of the structures, and the cross-sectional area of them, the study on the optimization can play an important role for enhancing the performance of the drip irrigation devices. In this study, experimental and numerical studies for investigating the performance of the drip irrigation devices had been conducted. In the experiments and numerical calculations(CFD), the variable parameters were the lengths of the labyrinth structures(#1~#8) and the fluid pressures(0.5~3.0 bar).

This paper describes the finite element analysis and die design change of spring retainer forging process to reduce the cold forging load and plastic forming stress concentration. Plastic deformation analysis was carried out in order to understand the forming process of workpieces and elastic stress analysis of the die set was performed in order to get basic data for the die fatigue life estimation. Cold forging die design was set up to each process with different four types analysis progressing, the upper and lower dies shapes with combination of fillets and chamfers shapes of cold forging dies. This study suggested optimal cold forging die geometry to reduce cold forging load. The design parameters of fillets and chamfers are selected geometry were selected to apply optimization with the DoE (design of experiment) and Taguchi method. DoE and Taguchi method was performed to optimize the workpiece preform shape for spring retainer forging process, it was possible to expect an increase in cold forging die life due to the 20 percentage forging load reduction.
The peculiarity pointed out for high strength concrete is the occurrence of spalling during a fire. Recently, there are many efforts such as development of all types of spalling reducing materials and other innovative materials in various fields. Need is now to examine the adequate mixing proportions of these materials. This study intended to derive experimentally and statistically mix proportions that can represent the basic quality requirements as well as the optimal effects on the fire-resistance for 4 types of functional materials that are metakaolin, waste tire chip, polypropylene fiber and steel fiber. Here, the tests were planned through an optimal test method using an orthogonal array table with 4 parameters and 3 levels. The statistical analysis adopted the response surface analysis method. Results verified mutual complementary contribution between the materials when using a combination of the functional materials selected as parameters for the strengthening of the fire-resistance of 80 MPa-class high strength concrete. Besides, the optimal conditions of the fire-resistance strengthening materials derived through response surface analysis were a volumetric replacement of silica fume by 80% of metakaolin, a volumetric replacement of fine aggregates by 3% of tire waste chip, and an addition of 0.2% of the whole volume by polypropylene fiber without mixing of steel fiber. In such cases, the basic characteristics as well as the fire-resistant characteristics of high strength concrete were also satisfied.
SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model was calibrated for the flow rate of the Deachung lake with a large area of 3108.29 $km^2$. Application of SWAT model requires significant number of input data and is prone to result in uncertainties due to errors in input data, model structure and model parameters. The SUFI-2 (Sequential Uncertainty Fitting Ver. 2) program and GLUE (Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation) program in SWAT-CUP (SWAT-Calibration and Uncertainty Program) are used to select the best parameters for SWAT model. Optimal combination of parameter values was determined through 2,000 iterative SWAT model runs. The Nash-Sutcliffe values and $R^2$ values were 0.87 and 0.89 respectively indicating both methods show good agreements with observed data successfully. RMSE and MSE values also showed similar results for both programs. It seems the SWAT-CUP has a great practical appeal for parameter optimization especially for large basin area and it also can be used for less experienced SWAT model users.
It has been well known that the rainfall-triggered rise of groundwater levels is one of the most important factors resulting the instability of the hillside slopes. Thus, the prediction of porewater pressure is an essential step in the evaluation of landslide hazard. This study involves the development and verification of numerical groundwater flow model for the prediction of groundwater flow fluctuations accounting for both of unsatu나toed flow and saturated flow on steep hillside slopes. The first part of this study is to develop a nomerical groundwater flow model. The numerical technique chosen for this study is the finitro element method in combination with the finite difference method. The finite element method is used to transform the space derivatives and the finite difference method is used to discretize the time domain. The second part of this study is to estimate the unknown model parameters used in the proposed numerical model. There were three parameters to be estimated from input -output record $K_e$, $\psi_e$, b. The Maximum -A-Posteriori(MAP) optimization method is utilized for this purpose, . The developed model is applied to a site in Korea where two debris avalanches of large scale and many landslides of small scale were occurred. The results of example analysis show that the numerical groundwater flow model has a capacity of predicting the fluctuation of groundwater levels due to rainfall reasonably well.
The feasibility and stability of ORP, pH(mV) and DO as a real-time control parameter for SBR process were evaluated in this study. During operation, NBP(nitrogen break point) and NKP(nitrate knee point), which reveal the biological and chemical changes of pollutants, were clearly observed on ORP and pH(mV)-time profiles, and those control points were easily detected by tracking the moving slope changes(MSC). However, when balance of aeration rate to loading rate, or to OUR(oxygen uptake rate), was not optimally maintained, either false NBP was occurred on ORP and DO curves before the appearance of real NBP or specific NBP feature was disappeared on ORP curve. Under that condition, however, very distinct NBP was found on pH(mV)-time profile, and stable detection of that point was feasible by tracking MSC. These results might mean that pH(mV) is superior real-time control parameter for aerobic process than ORP and DO. Meanwhile, as a real-time control parameter for anoxic process, ORP was very stable and more useful parameter than others. Based on these results, a stable real-time control of process can be achieved by using the ORP and pH(mv) parameters in combination rather than using separately. A complete removal of pollutants could be always ensured with this real-time control technology, despite the variations of wastewater and operation condition, as well as an optimization of treatment time and capacity could be feasible.
Many developments have been steadily carried out by researchers with applying knowledge-based expert system or machine learning algorithms to the financial field. In particular, it is now common to perform knowledge based system trading in using stock prices. Recently, deep learning technologies have been applied to real fields of stock trading marketplace as GPU performance and large scaled data have been supported enough. Especially, LSTM has been tried to apply to stock price prediction because of its compatibility for time series data. In this paper, we implement stock price prediction using LSTM. In modeling of LSTM, we propose a fitness combination of model parameters and activation functions for best performance. Specifically, we propose suitable selection methods of initializers of weights and bias, regularizers to avoid over-fitting, activation functions and optimization methods. We also compare model performances according to the different selections of the above important modeling considering factors on the real-world stock price data of global major companies. Finally, our experimental work brings a fitness method of applying LSTM model to stock price prediction.

In this study, alternative designs for the bends used in district heating pipes are investigated. The district heating pipes, which are subjected to temperatures of 10 to $120^{\circ}C$ and a water pressure of $16\;kgf/cm^2$, have to withstand thermomechanical cyclic loads when in use. These pipes comprise three concentric tubes: a steel pipe (internal), polyurethane (PUR) insulator (middle), and a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) case (external). In addition, the bends in the district heating pipe system are covered with foam pads that cause aging. In this study, an alternative bend design that does not involve the use of a foam pad is proposed to overcome the aging problem in the bends. In the proposed design, "shear rings" are added to the surface of a bend, and its dimensions are determined by a combination of the statistical (Taguchi) method and FEM. The geometrical parameters such as thickness, height, and number of the rings significantly affect the design optimization, and hence, they affect the results of the FEM.
This study was conducted to optimize the formulation conditions of the immediate-release layer of carvedilol in the development of a two-layer tablet formulation for carvedilol and ivabradine. Using a 24+3 full-factorial design of experiments, excipients (microcrystalline cellulose, citric acid, and crospovidone) of the carvedilol immediate-release layer (wet granulation part) and process parameters for the tablet compression process (main compression) were optimized, and seven types of each dependent variable (assay, content uniformity, hardness, friability, disintegration, and dissolution [pH 1.2 and 6.8]) were evaluated using design expert software. The analysis of variance results confirmed that the main compression has a significant effect on hardness, friability, and disintegration time and that microcrystalline cellulose has a major effect on friability and dissolution. In addition, it was confirmed that citric acid has a significant effect on friability. Crospovidone affects friability and dissolution. According to the design space from the design of the experiment results, the optimized range is microcrystalline cellulose (~18.0-32.0 mg), citric acid (~0.5-12 mg), and main compression (~615-837 kgf). Consequently, this study confirmed the availability of manufacturing the carvedilol immediate-release layer in which all risk factors evaluated in the initial risk assessment are removed.
