  • In this study, we have researched the optimum design method of the lenticular lens sheet for 3D displays on a TFT-LCD panel, to offer a more stable stereoscopic image, improved 3D quality, and a wider viewing zone. Especially, we have defined the viewing zone width (a parameter denoted as Z) to apply it to the optimum design. The results of this new design method have been compared with the existing design method. As a result, it is revealed that the proposed design method improves the stereoscopic image quality by reducing the black matrix zone width.

  • The new FLD of the laser welded blank, which includes FLCs of welded zone and base metals, is introduced. For the forming limits of welded zone, the hemispherical dome punch tests were performed with various widths of asymmetric specimen. The FLC0 as well as the dome height at fracture associated with various specimen widths in the same and different thickness combinations were found to see the formability depending on thickness combinations. In order to show the application of the new FLD, the measured strains of squared cup drawing and simulated strains of door inner panel stamping were compared with those of FLCs. The successful prediction of fracture in the applications reveals that the forming limits of welded zone and base metals should be separately found for more accurate evaluation of the formability and workability of the laser welded blank.

  • The use of I-Core sandwich panel has increased in cruise ship deck structure since it can provide similar bending strength with conventional stiffened plate while keeping lighter weight and lower web height. However, due to its thin plate thickness, i.e. about 4~6 mm at most, it is assembled by high power $CO_2$ laser welding to minimize the welding deformation. This research proposes a volumetric heat source model for T-joint of the I-Core sandwich panel and a method to use shell element model for a thermal elasto-plastic analysis to predict welding deformation. This paper, Part I, focuses on the heat source model. A circular cone type heat source model is newly suggested in heat transfer analysis to realize similar melting zone with that observed in experiment. An additional suggestion is made to consider negative defocus, which is commonly applied in T-joint laser welding since it can provide deeper penetration than zero defocus. The proposed heat source is also verified through 3D thermal elasto-plastic analysis to compare welding deformation with experimental results. A parametric study for different welding speeds, defocus values, and welding powers is performed to investigate the effect on the melting zone and welding deformation. In Part II, focuses on the proposed method to employ shell element model to predict welding deformation in thermal elasto-plastic analysis instead of solid element model.

  • The sandwich panel is commonly used domestically because it's less costly and easier to handle. But fires have frequently occurred in buildings employing sandwich panels, such as the fires in Eecheon cold storage and in Gwangju Pyungdong industrial zone. Sandwich panels with steel plates on their surface prevent fire water from penetrating to the fire source, which makes it difficult to extinguish a fire in a timely manner. Toxic gas generated from some insulation material leads to serious loss of life and property. This study is intended to develop an extinguishing system for sandwich panels, thereby reducing the fire risk. Fire water and volume were determined in the wake of the study on the structure of a sandwich panel extinguishing system, and improvement and testing of the fire characteristics of the sandwich panel. Based on such study and test, a fire model test was conducted. Consequently, the sandwich panel with extinguishing system was proven to have a reduced fire risk, compared to traditional or fire retardant panels.

  • In recent year, it has been investigated on the reduction of mass of structures for the purpose of the larger space and the economy with the industry developing very fast and qualitatively. So the purpose of this study is to investigate the manufacture of light weight concrete panel using the artificial light-weight aggregate as a part of the substitution of foamed styrene and polyurethane because of narrow allocable temperature zone in use. The compressive strength, flexural strength, unit weight, absorption test and thermal conductivity were practised at 3, 7 and 28 days after manufacturing the light-weight concrete lot the panel core: the filling ratio of continuous void was defied as 40%, 50%, and 60% and water-cement rate was 35, 40 and 45%. As a result of this, it was revealed that the mixture derived from filling ration of void of 50% and water-cement ratio 40% were developing the best properties of the others.

  • We evaluate the effectiveness and validity of J(sub)e, which comprehensively describes the effects of specimen geometry and loading type, in predicting the fatigue life of auto seat belt anchor panel. We first simplify the heat affected zone model to reduce the number of finite elements. We then establish finite element models reflecting the actual overload behavior of 3 types of seat belt anchor specimens. Using finite element models elaborately established, we obtain the effective crack driving parameter J(sub)e composed of its ductility-dependent modal components. It is confirmed that the J(sub)e concept successfully predicts the fatigue life of multi-spot welded panel structures represented by auto seat belt anchors here.

  • A numerical investigation has been carried out for the two-dimensional flow and pressure characteristics in a clean room equipped with two kinds of filters and four access panels. The distributed pressure resistance concept was applied to describe the momentum loss in filters and access panels. As a result, the velocity profile in the clean room became rather smooth by the presence of access panels. Furthermore, the average pressure drop of each access panel reached the same value so that the ratio of the flow rate should be the same at any zone. The closing of an access panel with maintaining the other access panels being opened had influenced on the velocity distribution in lower two thirds of left half space of the clean room.

  • The finite element formulation is developed for predicting strain distributions and weld line movements in the forming processes of laser welded blank. The welded zone(WZ) is modelled with several narrow finite elements whose material characteristics are analytically obtained from those of base metals based on the tensile tests. In order to show the reliability and effectiveness of weld element the forming process of hemispherical dome stretching and auto-body door inner panel stamping are simulated FEM predictions show good agreements with experimental observations.

  • In this paper, we studied low cycle fatigue behavior of laser welded sheet metal that used automobile body panel. Specimens were manufactured as weld condition and sheet metal using automobile manufacturing company at present. For to know mechanical properties, micro Vicker's hardness test was performed of specimens. But, we can't confirm mechanical properties of weld bead and heat affected zone because laser weld makes very narrow weld bead and heat affected zone than other welding method. Therefore, we performed low cycle fatigue test with similar weldment, dissimilar weldment, similar thickness and dissimilar weldment, and dissimilar thickness and dissimilar weldment for fatigue properties of thickness and welding direction. As well, we analysis stress distribution of base metal, weld bead, and heat affected zone according to strain load using finite element method.
