  • There are many studies to create realistic paint effects and the research area still has attracted attention in these days. However, the consideration for the characteristics of the real paint effects from the point of viewers is not enough. In this paper, we extract the important paint features and survey the importance values. Based on the survey results, we suggest a new paint system. The paint system utilizes the paint simulation that reflects viscoelasticity and mixing suggested by You et al. (2013) and proposes the paint rendering method that represents the details of a paint, a solvent, and pigments. We survey the quality of our results and prove that our paint system is superior to the previous studies.

로봇 Off-Line Programming을 위한 페인트 스프레이 시뮬레이션 방법론 개발 (An Accurate and Efficient Method of the Spray Paint Simulation for Robot OLP)

  • Recently, various attempts are being done to apply off-line programming system to field of paint robot. But most commercial simulation softwares have problems that are slow simulation speed and not support various painting paramenters on simulation. This paper proposes enhanced paint simulation method for off-line programming system. For these, this method used the mathematical model of flux field from a previous research. The flux field has the flux distribution function, which reflects on the feature of paint spray. A previous research derived this flux distribution function for an integral function and calculated paint thickness function for an integral function. But if flux distribution function is defined as an integral function, it is inadequate to use for real-time simulation because a number of calculation is needed for estimation of paint thickness distribution. Therefore, we defined the flux distribution function by numerical method for reducing a mount of calculation for estimation of paint thickness. We derived the equation of paint thickness function analytically for reducing a mount of calculation from the paint distribution function defined by numerical method. In order to prove proposed paint simulation method this paper compares the simulated and measured thickness. From this comparison this paper show that paint thickness distribution is predicted precisely by proposed spray paint simulation process.

  • Life Cycle Cost analysis technique is introduced to evaluate cost-effectiveness of two paint systems of steel bridges. The systems are a conventional paint system and a galvanized paint system. The all costs during safe lift such as initial cost repainting costs, disposal costs are considered for the lift cycle cost analysis. The NIST model is used and BridgeLCC 1.0 developed by the NST is utilized as the lift cycle cost analysis tool. It is concluded that, in spite of expensive initial cost, the durable paint system may be cost-effective compared with conventional paint system.

  • Paint is used as top coat in Automobile Refinishing that is divided into 1K paint of base type and 2K paint of urethane type. after using 1K paint, it can be reusable. However 2K paint is not available that is mixed a certain amount of base with hardner, so 2K paint has to be used all at a time or discarded the rest. This study covered that colored Urethane paint and colorless urethane paint in top coating process of AR. Top coat urethane paint is divided into colored urethane paint and transparent urethane paint like clear coat. Colored urethane paint is used for paint that contains resin, pigment, solvent and additives. It is color such as black and white. While transparent urethane paint is used for paint that contains resin, solvent and additives. Urethane paint has a paint system that cur after several hours of mixing base and hardner. By a paint technician of a field and empirical data, we can also recognize that according to worker's paint style and experience, although he or she paint same car model and area, paint use of one's is different. There aren't guidelines workers refer to about paint use by car models and work scope because ARP works various car models that are in different color, size and area. After using urethane paint, the rest of paint has come, and there are highs and lows in paint use each time he or she works. Therefore, this study suggest a basic guideline to use paint efficiently and regularly by understanding area, the type of work, and paint use that are appropriate for each car model and regardless of workers and work scopes in AR.

  • The painting process of large ships is an intense manual operation that typically comprises 9-12% of the total shipbuilding cost. Accordingly, shipbuilders need to estimate the required amount of anti-corrosive coatings and painting resources for inventory and cost control. This study aims to develop a software system which enables the shipbuilders to estimate paint area using existing 3D CAD ship structural models. The geometric information of the ships structure are extracted from the existing shipbuilding CAD/CAM system and used to create painting zones. After specifying the painting zones, users can generate the paint faces by clipping structural parts inside each zone. Finally, the paint resources may be obtained from the product of the paint areas and required paint thickness. Implementing the developed software system to real shipbuilders' operations has contributed to improved productivity, faster resource estimation, better accuracy, and fewer coating defects over their conventional manual calculation methods for painting resource estimation.

  • An indirect concept and method is proposed to predict the paint dry time at the inside wall of ship block. To implement this concept on computer program, optimal hot air supply-exhaust system of paint dry facility was designed by CFD simulation and experiment was performed to get the paint dry time curve according to various paint dry conditions. After combining the block inside environment from the simulation results and the paint dry time prediction curve from the curve-fitting of experimental result, the GUI program which can be executed in general PC OS has been finally developed.

도장부스 수조 내 슬러지 처리 시스템의 개발 (Development of the Sludge Treatment System in Water Bath of Painting Booth)

  • A sludge treatment system for introducing the waste water mixture with paint sludge from the water bath of paint booth and for recycling cleaned water to paint booth after sludge separation is developed. Floated sludge is introduced from the water surface in the bath by using floating-skimmer, and is conveyed by pump to the centrifugal separator where sludge and cleaned water are separated. From the operation results of the present sludge treatment systems applied in actual paint booths, paint sludge can be separated automatically and effectively from water bath with its water content of $60-70\%$, and sludge-free clean water is returned to paint booth.

  • Recently, Fire-proof performance of buildings becomes important to ensure safety. As a result, fire-proof paint is required for 3 hours. However, Experiments are only performed by standard KS F 2271 for estimation of fire-proof paint. Because there is no domestic estimation standard for performance of fire-proof paint as well. So estimation standard of fire-proof paint is needed to guarantee their performance for establishing quality system and to assure same performance for safety of people in the building from unpredicted fire accident. Owing to these reasons, we studied comparative estimation for quality performance of two kinds of fire-proof paint and bond performance.

소형 자동차 페인트 도장부스에서 발생하는 점착성 paint aerosol 처리장치에서 제거성능 (Removal Performance of Sticky Paint Aerosol Control System Generated from Small Scale Car Paint Overspray Booth)

  • Small scale paint overspray booths are being operated nationwidely, for repair of passenger car body parts. paint aerosols are emitted from the paint overspray booth in operations. In paint overspray booth operations without ventilation system and air pollutants collection unit, it may land on nearby equipment. In this study a removal of sticky paint aerosol for application of the small-scale overspray paint booth. it's cause the surface of filter bag from generated sticky paint aerosol. To remove adhesion of paint aerosol the agglomerating agents are injected and mixed with sticky paint aerosols prior to reach the filter bag. The paint spray rate was set as $10{\pm}5g/min$ from air-atomized spray guns in the spray booth, injection rate of agglomerating was $10{\pm}5g/min$ in the mixing chamber. The filtration velocity including air pollutants varied from 0.2 m/min to 0.4 m/min. Bag cleaning air pressure was set as $5.0kg_f/min$ for detaching dust cake from surface of filter bag. Bag cleaning interval at the filtration velocity of 0.2 m/min was around 3 times longer than that of the 0.4 m/min. The residual pressure drop maintained highest value at the highest filtration velocity. Fractional efficiency of 99.952%~99.971% was possible to maintain for the particle size of 2.5 microns. Total collection efficiency at the filtration velocity of 0.2 m/min was 99.42%. During this study we could confirm high collection efficiency and long cleaning intervals for the test with filtration velocity of 0.2 m/min indicating an optimal value for the given dimensions of the test unit and test operating conditions.
