The limestone area covers the narrow range of the Korean Peninsula, and it consists of a peculiar ecosystem and topography. Therefore, this study on limestone area was carried out classification of vegetation type, physicochemical properties of forest soils and correlation between environment factors and vegetation types in order to furnish fundamental data for the forest management of limestone area. Forest vegetation was classified into two community groups such as Quercus variabilis community group and Quercus mongolica community group, and it was classified into eight vegetation units. Soil texture of survey sites showed largely silt loam and soil pH indicated the value of mean 7.55 in the A layer of soil profile. Content of exchangeable cation such as calcium ion ($Ca^{2+}$) and magnesium ion ($Mg^{2+}$) showed $26.04cmol_{c}/kg$ and $2.93cmol_{c}/kg$, respectively, which was about ten times higher than average of other regions of Korea. According to corelation between environmental factors and vegetation units, Q. variabilis community group was positively correlated to soil pH, slope degree and the rate of bare rock, and content of calcium ion ($Ca^{2+}$), and then Q. mongolica community group was positively correlated to altitude, respectively.
This study was carried out to find the physico-chemical properties of soils and the rice growth at the pilot project rice farm of Buchanan city, Liberia. The results were as follows. Soils were classified as Plinthic Ferralsols. Real tropical soils had an oxic B horizon of 30cm thick with diffused horizon boundaries. The surface soils have Ochric A horizon with low organic matter. Plinthite was distributed throughout the whole soil profile unevenly. Exposed to sun light, Plinthite was dried out, hardened, and developed irreversibly into ironstone. There were 286 termite hills in 20ha in the project area. The pH value of the termite hills was higher than that of the ordinary soil two units. Soils of the termite hills had higher contents of carbon, nitrogen, available phosphate and exchangeable bases, especially calcium(2,000mg/kg). Available Fe contents was 230~330mg/kg in the surface soil, and 2,200mg/kg in the subsoil. This caused bronzing of rice in a few days after transplanting. The tolerance of Fe toxicity was lower in Korean cultivars than in Liberian cultivars. The tolerant cultivar was Hangang among Korean cultivars and Nizersail and Suakoko 8 among Liberian cultivars. Area weighted average percolation rate was 8.3mm/day and infiltration rate was 2~2.5mm/hr.

Present silicon dioxide (SiOz) 떠m as intennetal dielectridIMD) layers will result in high parasitic c capacitance and crosstalk interference in 비gh density devices. The general and some pharmacological actions of DWP 302 were investigated in animals and the following results were obtained. In central nervous system, DWP 302 had no effects on the pentobarbital induced anaesthesia, locomotor activity, rotarod test, traction test, analgesic action in the mice and body temperature in the rat. DWP 302 showed no depressive action on the convulsion induced by strychnine and electronic shock. From these results, DWP 302 was considered to have no or little pharmacological effect on the central nervous system. Furthermore, DWP 302 had no influences on the normal blood pressure and heart rate. In the isolated ileum of guinea pig, DWP 302 showed neither contractive nor relaxing effects against the acetylcholine ($10^{-6}g/mι$), histamine ($10^{-6}g/mι$) and $BaCl_2$ ($10^{-4}g/mι$) at a concentration of $1.9{\times}10^{-4}g/mι$ in bath. But it caused a slight increase in basal tone at a concentration of $6.3{\times}10^{-4}g/mι$ and this effect was inhibited by atropine $10^{-7}g/mι.$ In the isolated trachea and vas deference, DWP 302 showed no effect on the contractions produced by histamine and norepinephrine, respectively. And DWP 302 showed no effect on the contractions produced by acetylcholine and oxytocin in the isolated nonpregnant rat uterus. DWP 302 had no effect on bile excretion, urine volume, pH and gastrointestinal motility, But, DWP 302 showed a significant inhibitory effect on gastric secretion in the rat.

A method that describes the determination of the in vitro release of ketoprofen from gels was suggested. The experimental system of the method consists of a Franz diffusion cell, which contains a pH 7.4 phosphate buffer as a receptor medium, and a $70\;{\mu}m$ mesh woven nylon membrane as a diffusion barrier. Under the given condition of the system, the diffusion of ketoprofen across the membrane was rapid enough that the apparent release profile of ketoprofen obtained from the present method could represent the release of the drug from gel preparations. The release of ketoprofen in the present method was reproducible, and the rate increased in proportion to the concentration of ketoprofen in the gel. These suggest that the present method is applicable to the quality evaluation of gel preparations containing ketoprofen.
As the frequency and the intensity of so called Asian dust (AD) events have increased, public concerns about the adverse health effects has spiked sharply over the last two decades. Despite the recent reports on the correlation between AD events and the risk for cardiovascular and respiratory disease, the nature of the toxicity and the degree of the risk are yet largely unknown. In the present study, we investigated the effects of the dichloromethane extract of AD (AD-X) and that of urban dust (NAD-X) collected during a non-AD period on gene expression in HL-60 cells using Illumina Sentrix HumanRef-8 Expression BeadChips. Global changes in gene expression were analyzed after 24 h of incubation with 50 or 100 ${\mu}g$/ml AD-X and NAD-X. By one-way analysis of variance (p < 0.05) and Benjamini-Hochberg multiple testing correction for false discovery rate of the results, 573 and 297 genes were identified as AD-X- and NAD-X-responsive, respectively. The genes were classified into three groups by Venn diagram analysis of their expression profile, i.e., 290 AD-X-specific, 14 NAD-X-specific, and 283 overlapping genes. Quantitative realtime PCR confirmed the changes in the expression levels of the selected genes. The expression patterns of five genes, namely SORL1, RABEPK, DDIT4, AZU1, and NUDT1 differed significantly between the two groups. Following rigorous validation process, these genes may provide information in developing biomarker for AD exposure.
A simple approximate model using equivalent time at a reference temperature ($t_{eq}$) was derived to predict quality changes caused by temperature fluctuations. The validity and effectiveness of this model have been assessed with experimental data of sucrose hydrolysis. Kinetic parameters of sucrose hydrolysis were estimated by one step method using equivalent time at a reference temperature with linearly increasing temperature profile. Sucrose hydrolysis was a first order reaction, and the activation energy was 25.84 kcal/mol. The extent of sucrose hydrolysis of liquid model system under accelerated test with sinusoidal temperature fluctuations were determined. The proposed model yielded accurate prediction with the correlation coefficient in the range of $0.92{\sim}0.99$.
The kinetic and chemical mechanisms of AChE-catalyzed hydrolysis of short-chain thiocholine esters are relatively well documented. Up to propanoylthiocholine (PrTCh) the chemical mechanism is general acid-base catalysis by the active site catalytic triad. The chemical mechanism for the enzyme-catalyzed butyrylthiocholine(BuTCh) hydrolysis shifts to a parallel mechanism in which general base catalysis by E199 of direct water attack to the carbonyl carbon of the substrate. [Selwood, T., et al. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1993, 115, 10477- 10482] The long chain thiocholine esters such as hexanoylthiocholine (HexTCh), heptanoylthiocholine (HepTCh), and octanoylthiocholine (OcTCh) are hydrolyzed by electric eel acetylcholinesterase (AChE). The kinetic parameters are determined to show that these compounds have a lower Michaelis constant than BuTCh and the pH-rate profile showed that the mechanism is similar to that of BuTCh hydrolysis. The solvent isotope effect and proton inventory of AChE-catalyzed hydrolysis of HexTCh showed that one proton transfer is involved in the transition state of the acylation stage. The relationship between the dipole moment and the Michaelis constant of the long chain thiocholine esters showed that the dipole moment is the most important factor for the binding of a substrate to the enzyme active site.

Surface-normal transmission electro-absorption modulator (EAM) are attractive for high-definition (HD) three-dimensional (3D) imaging application due to its features such as small system volume and simple epitaxial structure [1,2]. However, EAM in order to be used for HD 3D imaging system requires uniform modulation performance over large area. To achieve highly uniform modulation performance of EAM at the operating wavelength of 850 nm, it is extremely important to remove the GaAs substrate over large area since GaAs material has high absorption coefficient below 870 nm which corresponds to band-edge energy of GaAs (1.424 eV). In this study, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a transmission EAM in which highly selective backside etching methods which include lapping, dry etching and wet etching is carried out to remove the GaAs substrate for achieving highly uniform modulation performance. First, lapping process on GaAs substrate was carried out for different lapping speeds (5 rpm, 7 rpm, 10 rpm) and the thickness was measured over different areas of surface. For a lapping speed of 5 rpm, a highly uniform surface over a large area ($2{\times}1\;mm^2$) was obtained. Second, optimization of inductive coupled plasma-reactive ion etching (ICP-RIE) was carried out to achieve anisotropy and high etch rate. The dry etching carried out using a gas mixture of SiCl4 and Ar, each having a flow rate of 10 sccm and 40 sccm, respectively with an RF power of 50 W, ICP power of 400 W and chamber pressure of 2 mTorr was the optimum etching condition. Last, the rest of GaAs substrate was successfully removed by highly selective backside wet etching with pH adjusted solution of citric acid and hydrogen peroxide. Citric acid/hydrogen peroxide etching solution having a volume ratio of 5:1 was the best etching condition which provides not only high selectivity of 235:1 between GaAs and AlAs but also good etching profile [3]. The fabricated transmission EAM array have an amplitude modulation of more than 50% at the bias voltage of -9 V and maintains high uniformity of >90% over large area ($2{\times}1\;mm^2$). These results show that the fabricated transmission EAM with substrate removed is an excellent candidate to be used as an optical shutter for HD 3D imaging application.
The weathering rates and change of chemical composition of 6 residual Entisols derived from granite, granite-gneiss, limestone, sandstone, shale, amd basalt in Korea were studied. The chemical composition of each profile with parent rocks were determined using XRF with the physico-chemical properties and the morphology of soils. In the A horizons of all the soils except Euiseong series, the content of clay, organic matter and cation exchange capacity(CEC) showed higher than those of C horizon, but bulk density and pH showed lower than C horizon. Clay content in the soil from sandstone was decrease with soil depth, which may caused by the elluriation. In total element analysis. $SiO_2$ was high in the soil from granite. granite-gneiss, sandstone and compare with basalt and limestone. $Fe_2O_3$ and MgO was high in the soil from basalt, limestone and shale compare with granite. granite-gneiss and sandstone. And ignition loss was particularly high in the soil from basalt and limestone. The rate of element loss was higher in base cations(Ca, K, Mg, Na) than Si, Al, Fe in the soils. The concentrations of $TiO_2$ in the A horizon compare with that of the C horizon was due to resulting from losses of other less stable elements existed. Considering with relative rate of each elements in soils, $SiO_2$ and $Al_2O_3$ which originated from sandstone and granite, granite-gneiss, sandstone, shale, and basalt were lost higher than those from lime tone, but loss of basic cations were more in the soil from limestone which may be rapid weathering of calcite. The magnitude of losses of the overall elements were increased in the order of the soils from sandstone and granite ${\gg}$ limestone and shale) granite-gneiss and basalt.
