Spectral Reflectance Patterns by Artificial Acid Rain in Pinus and Quercus species

  • The objectives of this study are to reveal relationship between tree physiology and spectral reflectance on effects of artificial acid rain and to obtain basic data on optimal wave length for forest of LRC sensor on KOMPSAT-2. Three pH levels of artificial acid rain - control, pH4.5 and pH3.0 - were applied to Pinus and Quercus species. Three types of the acid rain were spraied at the amount of 500m1 in every two days. Spectral reflectance data was collected once in a month by using GER 1500 (350~2500nm) or Ll 1800(300~1100nm) Spectroradiometer. The data was measured three times in a pH level. The results of this study are as follows; in April, the spectral reflectance of Pinus species was high in order at the level of pH3.0, control and pH4.5; in May, control, pH3.0 and pH4.5; in June, control, pH4.5 and pH3.0. That of Quercus species was high in the order of control, pH4.5 and pH3.0 in May; in June, control, pH3.0 and pH4.5, especially, within infrared wave length range, control, pH4.5 and ph3.0.

  • An adaptive pH control is developed to manipulate the nonlinearities and time-varying properties of pH systems. In this research, we estimate two adjustable parameters by using the recursive least squares method and a nonlinear PI controller is used to control pH systems based on the estimated two parameters.

상추 수경재배시 생리적 산, 알칼리를 이용한 배양액 pH의 자동 조절 (Automatic pH Control of Nutrient Solution by Physiological Fertilizers in Lettuce Hydroponics)

  • 수경재배시 변화하는 배양액 pH를 동적으로 조절하기 위한 방법으로 생리적 산, 알칼리와 화학적 산, 알칼리의 효율성을 검토하였다. 배양액 자동조절시스템에 생리적 산, 알칼리로 NH$_4$H$_2$PO$_4$ 및 NaNO$_3$를 이용하고, 화학적 산으로 H$_2$SO$_4$를 이용하여 상추를 재배한 결과, 처리에 관계없이 배양액의 pH를 안정적으로 조절할 수 있었다. 생리적 산, 알칼리의 경우 화학적 산, 알칼리보다 배양액 pH를 급격히 변화시켰으며, 그에 따른 해작용은 나타나지 않았다. 그러므로 상추의 순수수경재배시 배양액의 pH를 자동제어 하기 위한 방법으로, 생육 기간 중에는 화학적 산, 알칼리를 이용하여 pH를 조절하고 수확 며칠 전부터 NH$_4$H$_2$PO$_4$를 화학적 알칼리와 겸해서 공급하는 것이 바람직한 것으로 사료된다.

  • The internal corrosion of water distribution systems is the main cause for the problem of the public health threat as well as water leakage in the damaged pipeline, red water, and odor and taste of the tap water. This study was examined the effect of chemicals used for pH and alkalinity control and corrosion inhibitors for producing the optimal corrosion control method. Corrosion study at different pH and alkalinity indicated that these control using alkaline chemicals was effective in corrosion rate, Fe release reduction, but examined to be increased in turbidity and corrosion-by-products(TTHMs) problems. The turbidity was slightly increased, requiring caution in controlling corrosion with $Ca(OH)_2$. At pH 9.0, TTHMs concentration is increased two times corn pared with non-control of pH. Using the pipe which had experienced 28 years of exposure, iron release was decreased with the corrosion inhibitor. Consequently, pH, Alkalinity control method using alkaline chemicals must be complemented by corrosion inhibitor application for efficient corrosion control.

CO2 주입에 의한 pH 조정이 정수장 응집효율 및 알루미늄 용출에 미치는 영향 (Effect of pH Adjustment by CO2 on Coagulation and Aluminum Elution in Water Treatment)

  • 본 연구는 조류 개체 수 증가로 pH가 급격하게 상승한 원수가 정수장으로 유입될 때 pH 조정을 위해 사용하는 이산화탄소($CO_2$) 주입이 응집효율 및 용존 알루미늄 농도변화에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 응집제 1 mg/L에 주입에 따른 pH 감소는 LAS -0.0384, PAC -0.0254, A-PAC -0.0201, PACS2 -0.0135로 나타났다. 용존 알루미늄 농도는 pH 7.44에서 0.02 mg/L, pH 7.96에서 0.07 mg/L, pH 8.16에서 0.12 mg/L, pH 8.38에서 0.39 mg/L로 응집공정의 pH 증가에 따라 용존 알루미늄 농도가 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 여기서 주목할 점은 급속 교반 후 pH 8.0을 초과할 때부터 용존 알루미늄 농도는 급격하게 증가하는 것이다. 그러므로 높은 pH의 원수가 유입되는 정수장에서 알루미늄 농도가 먹는 물 수질 기준 만족하기 위해서는 응집공정의 pH가 7.8 이하로 유지되도록 공정관리가 필요하며, 원수 pH가 8.0 이상 유입되는 경우 이산화탄소($CO_2$) 주입으로 pH를 7.3 내외로 일정하게 유지할 수 있었다. 또한 이산화탄소($CO_2$) 주입으로 응집공정에서 pH를 조정함으로써 탁도 및 응집제 절감, 용존 알루미늄 농도 감소 효과를 확인할 수 있었다.

  • In this paper a pH process of a weak acid with a strong base is modeled into a bilinear form, and a self-tuning pH control algorithm which is robust against initial values of solution and disturbances is presented. The control algorithm employs the recursive least square method for the parameter estimation and the generalised minimum variance criterion as the objective function. The computer simulation shows that the tracking of desired pH values is obtained in satisfactory manner regardless of the initial values chosen for the process.

관개용수 pH가 벼 생육, 수량, 미질에 미치는 영향(I) (Effect of pH in Irrigation Water on the Growth, Yield, and Grain Quality of Rice)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of the pH of irrigation water on the growth, yield, and grain quality of rice. It acquire fundamental knowledges to set up irrigation water quality standards. The pot experiment was conducted with 5 treatments using irrigation waters with various pH values(control, 4, 6, 8, 10) and replicated four times with randomized block design. The results of this study showed that the uptake of N, P, and K, Ripened grain ratio and yield of rice tended to be reduced at the irrigation water of pH 4 and pH 10. P uptake, Ripened grain ratio and yield of rice at pH 4 water were significantly lower than the control. K uptake at pH 10 water was significantly lower than the control. Plant height, SPAD value and protein content of rice were not affected by the pH of irrigation water.

Effects of pH Change by CO2 Induction and Salinity on the Hatching Rate of Artemia franciscana

  • To understand the effects of lower pH levels due to elevated $CO_2$ and salinity, we designed and constructed a pH-control system that included automatic $CO_2$ infusion and measured the hatching rate of a crustacean model species, Artemia franciscana. The pH-control system was cost-effective and capable of performing animal tests in which pH fluctuated around $8.0{\pm}0.1$, with the temperature around $27{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$. Hatching rate was observed under four different pH levels (7.0, 7.3, 7.6, and untreated control) combined with three salinity ranges (15, 25, and 35 ppt). The results demonstrated that lower pH levels led to decreased hatching rates regardless of salinity, and the minimum hatching rate was detected at pH 7.0 compared to the control (pH $8.0{\pm}0.1$), supporting the idea that OA has adverse effects on hatching rates and increases the risk of juveniles being introduced in the ecosystem. In contrast, salinity changes exhibited no synergistic effects with pH and had independent effects.

  • 국내 원예시설의 증가와 더불어 양액재배농가도 증가추세에 있어 저렴한 국산 양액재배 자동화기기가 농가에 필요한 실정이다. 이에 따른 양액재배의 EC와 pH를 자동조절하기 위하여 마이크로컴퓨터의 일종인 PLC(programmable logic controller)를 이용한 장치를 개발하고 재배실험을 실시한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. Ladder diagram언어를 사용하여 양액재배의 자동화 프로그램을 작성하였다. 2. PLC를 이용하여 양액의 EC, pH수준을 1.70-l.72mS/cm, 6.1-6.5로 전 생육기간 동안 유지시킬 수 있었다. 3. 대조구에 비하여 처리구가 상품과(당도 5.0 oBrix, 산도 0.4% 이상) 및 수량성이 높은 결과를 얻었다. 4. 식물체의 무기성분 함량은 처리구가 대조구에 비해 전체적으로 높았다.

Alpha-linolenic acid enhances maturation and developmental competence via regulation of glutathione, cAMP and fatty acid accumulation during in vitro maturation of porcine oocytes

  • The aim of present study was to investigate regulatory mechanism of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) during in vitro maturation (IVM) on nuclear and cytoplasmic maturation of porcine oocytes. Basically, immature cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) were incubated for 22 h in IVM-I to which hormone was added, and then further incubated for 22 h in IVM-II without hormone. As a result, relative cumulus expansion was increased at 22 h after IVM and it was enhanced by treatment of ALA compared with control group (p < 0.05). During IVM process within 22 h, cAMP level in oocytes was decreased at 6 h (p < 0.05) and it was recovered at 12 h in ALA-treated group, while oocytes in control group recovered cAMP level at 22 h. In cumulus cells, it was reduced in all time point (p < 0.05) and ALA did not affect. Treatment of ALA enhanced metaphase-I (MI) and MII population of oocytes compared with oocytes in control group at 22 and 44 h, respectively (p < 0.05). Intracellular GSH levels in ALA group was increased at 22 and 44 h after IVM (p < 0.05), whereas it was increased in control group at 44 h after IVM (p < 0.05). In particular, the GSH in ALA-treated oocytes during 22 h of IVM was higher than control group at 22 h (p < 0.05). Lipid amount in oocytes from ALA group was higher than control group (p < 0.05). Treatment of ALA did not influence to absorption of glucose from medium. Cleavage and blastocyst formation of ALA-treated oocytes were enhanced compared with control group (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that supplementation of ALA could improve oocyte maturation and development competence through increasing GSH synthesis, lipid storage, and regulation of cAMP accumulation during early 22 h of IVM, and these might be mediated by cumulus expansion.
