유독성 유기용매의 촉매산화공정에서 혼합조성에 따른 간섭효과 (Inhibition Effects of Toxic Solvent Mixture in Catalytic Oxidation Process)

  • The selective catalytic oxidation of toxic aromatic solvents (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and styrene) and their mixtures were studied on a $Pt/{\;}{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalyst at temperature ranging from $160~350^{\circ}C$. The deep conversion of aromatic solvents was increased as the inlet concentration was decreased and the reaction temperature was increased. The reactivity increases in order benzene > toluene > ethylbenzene > styrene. In mixture, remarkable effects on reaction rate and selectivity have been evidence ; the strongest inhibition effect is shown by styrene and increase in a reverse order with respect to that of reactivity. The inhibition effect was increased in order styrene > ethylbenzene > toluzene > benzene. This trend is due to the competition adsorption between the two or three reactants on the oxidized catalyst. Also, the deep conversion change of benzene was a small in tertiary mixtures(including of benzene and styrene) comparing with conversion characteristics of binary mixture with styrene. This result was due to small concentration of styrene. which had very strong inhibition effect.

High-temperature oxidation behaviors of ZrSi2 and its coating on the surface of Zircaloy-4 tube by laser 3D printing

  • The high-temperature oxidation behavior of ZrSi2 used as a coating material for nuclear fuel cladding was investigated for developing accident-tolerant fuel cladding of light water reactors. Bulk ZrSi2 samples were prepared by spark plasma sintering. In situ X-ray diffraction was conducted in air at 900, 1000, and 1100 ℃ for 20 h. The microstructures of the samples before and after oxidation were examined by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The results showed that the oxide layer of zirconium silicide exhibited a layer-by-layer structure of crystalline ZrO2 and amorphous SiO2, and the high-temperature oxidation resistance was superior to that of Zircaloy-4 owing to the SiO2 layer formed. ZrSi2 was coated on the Zircaloy-4 tube surface using laser 3D printing, and the coated tube was oxidized for 2000 s at 1200 ℃ under a vapor/argon mixture atmosphere. The outer surface of the coated tube was hardly oxidized (10-30 ㎛), while the inner surface of the uncoated tube was significantly oxidized to approximately 300 ㎛.

  • The native oxide films were thermally and anodically formed on the n-GaP substrates grown by SSD method and measured this oxide thickness and the chemical composition and the electrical properties with formation condition. The chemical composition of themally oxidized GaP film was composed of mostly $GaPO_4$ at temperature below $800^{\circ}C$ and mostly $\beta-Ga_{2}O_{3}$ above $800^{\circ}C$. But The chemical composition of anodically oxidized GaPfilm was composed of the mixture of $Ga_{2}O_{3}$ and $P_{2}O_{5}$. The barrier height of Al/oxide/n-Gap which was formed at $700^{\circ}C$ by thermal oxidation method were 1.10eV, 1.03eV in Current-Voltage measurement. Interface charge density were $4{\times}10^{12}q(C/cm^2)$ and $3{\times}10^{12}q(C/cm^2)$ in Capacitance-Voltage measurement respectively.

  • The SiO vapor that was generated from a mixture of Si and $SiO_2$ was reacted at $1350^{\circ}C$ for 2 h under vacuum with carbon nanofibers to produce SiC nanofibers having an average diameter of 100~200 nm. In order to understand the gas corrosion behavior, SiC nanofibers were exposed to air up to $1000^{\circ}C$. SiC oxidized to amorphous $SiO_2$, but its oxidation resistance was inferior unlike bulk SiC, because of high surface area of nanofibers. When SiC nanofibers were exposed to Ar-1% $SO_2$ atmosphere, SiC oxidized to amorphous $SiO_2$, without forming $SiS_2$, owing to the thermodynamic stability of $SiO_2$.

Fabrication and Evaluation of a New High-Temperature pH Sensor for Use in PWR Nuclear Power Plants

  • A new high-temperature pH sensor has been successfully developed by reforming the internal reference systems of the pH sensors based on oxygen-ion conducting ceramic membrane. The conventional internal reference system, a mixture of Ni and NiO, has been replaced with partially oxidized Ni powders, where Ni and NiO coexist on the surface of particles, in order to avoid the cumbersome mixing step of Ni and NiO particles. The partially oxidized Ni particles were made by oxidizing Ni under air atmosphere at $600^{\circ}C$ and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and FTIR spectroscopy. The viability of the pH sensor developed was assessed in boric acid (1000 ppm-B)/ lithium hydroxide (1 to 3 ppm-Li) buffer solutions at $280^{\circ}C$. The pH sensor showed excellent accuracy with a small error less than ${\pm}0.2$ pH units.

Characterization of Thermal Products of Alpha-Tocopherol

  • Alpha-tocopherol was thermally oxidized and degraded at high temperatures and the resulting products were chromatographically separated and identified by LC-MS. Alpha-tocopherol dissolved in glycerol was heated at 200^{\circ}C for 30 min. The thermal products were separated by hexane extraction and analyzed by HPLC using a reversed phase $\mu$-Bondapak $C_{18}-column$ with two kinds of elution solvents: a mixture of acetonitrile and methanol (3:2), and of acetonitrile, methanol, 2-propanol, chloroform and methylene chloride (3:2:5:0.5:0.5) in a gradient mode. The isolated thermal. products of alpha-tocopherol were more viscous than alpha-tocopherol, and dark brown in color. Major thermal degradation products of alpha-tocopherol were identified by LC-MS, and the structures of thermal products were proposed. Alpha-tocopherol and its thermal degradation products were degraded into fragments, mainly at the non-aromatic parts. The degradation products of alpha-tocopherol. were combined with oxidized product (tocopherylquinone) to make thermal. products through dimerization.

저온열교환기 효율 향상을 위한 탄소나노유체의 특성 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Characteristics of Carbon Nanofluids for Efficiency Enhancement of Low Temperature Heat Exchanger)

  • 본 연구에서는 저온 열교환기 효율 향상을 위하여 상온($25^{\circ}C$)과 저온($10^{\circ}C$)에서 탄소나노유체와 산화탄소나 노유체의 열전도도와 점도를 측정하였다. 탄소나노유체는 다중벽 탄소나노튜브에 계면활성제 SDS 100 wt%, 고분자 화합물 PVP 300 wt%를 각각 혼합한 뒤 증류수에 초음파 분산하여 제조하였고, 산화탄소나노유체는 산화 처리된 다중벽 탄소나노튜브를 증류수에 초음파 분산하여 제조하였다. 탄소나노유체의 열전도도는 비정상 열선법을 사용하여 측정하였으며, 점도는 회전형 디지털 점도계를 사용하여 측정하였다. 그 결과 같은 혼합비율과 온도에서 다른 탄소나노유체들 보다 산화탄소나노유체의 열전도도가 가장 높게 측정되었고, 점도는 가장 낮게 측정되었다.

이중동축류 확산화염에서의 매연 및 PAH 생성 특성 (Soot and PAH Formation Characteristic of Concentric Co-Flow Diffusion Flames)

  • The synergistic effect of ethylene/propane mixture on soot formation is studied experimentally using a concentric co-flow diffusion burner, which provides the stratified fuel mixture. The soot volume fraction, soot particle diameter, number density and PAH concentrations are measured with various fuel supply configurations and compared to the homogeneously mixed case. When propane is supplied through the inner nozzle, an increase of soot formation is observed. However, when propane is supplied through the outer nozzle, a decrease is observed. The reaction path of PAH's formed from the pyrolysis process of propane is likely to be responsible to the observed differences. When propane is supplied through the outer nozzle, PAH's are formed in the relatively near oxidation region and exposed to the oxidization environment; on the other hand, when propane is supplied through the inner nozzle, PAH's are not likely to be oxidized and thus get involved in soot formation process. The synergistic effect in ethylene/propane diffusion flames is found to be affected not only by the com position of the mixture but also by the way of mixing.

Ferrite-Resin 복합재료의 방진 특성에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of Ferrite-Resin Material for Improving Vibration-proof Property)

  • The vibration-proof material normally used in structural components of precision machinery or measuring instruments requires higher damping in vibration and better characteristics in dimensional stability and rigidity to accomplish the quality assurance of the products. In this study the ferrite-resin material, which is the mixture of epoxy resin and the oxidized steel (Fe$_{3}$O$_{4}$: ferrite) in consideration of characteristics of aggregator and binder, is developed and investigated as one of vibration-proof materials. Four kinds of composite plates for experiments are made by adding another filler materials such as steel powder, granite powder and carbon-fiber sheet to the basic ferrite-resin matrix. Their characteristics are compared with a cast iron specimen which has the same bending rigidity as other specimens. The ferrite-resin material gives the best damping effect in the motor-induced vibration test. Therefore, the material can be applied to the manufacturing industry for vibration damping of machine elements.

  • We have investgated on the monolayer LB film of BASH-DMPC mixture on an ITO for the photoisomerization by light irradiation. We measured electrochemical properties by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system, An Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode in $NaClO_4$ solution at a variable concentration and monolayer LB films. A measuring range was reduced from initial potential to -1350mV, continuously oxidized to 1650 mV and measured to the initial point. The scan rate were 50, 100, 150 and 200 mV/s. As a results, LB films of 8A5H-DMPC appeared reversible process caused by the reduction-oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram.
