고령토로부터 군청안료 제조 (Process Development for Production of Ultramarine Blue from Kaolin)

  • 본 연구는 고령토, 유황, 소다회, 규석 그리고 송진을 원료로 군청안료 제조기술 개발을 위하여 환원소성 방법 및 조건, 산화 조건 규명을 위하여 2 kg/회 규모의 회분식 실험을 수행하였다. 환원 소성 및 산화 공정에서 분말 형태로 소성할 경우 열전도율이 낮아 규모가 커짐에 따라 반응물 내 외부 온도차가 커져 소성 시간이 길어지고 반응 생성물이 불균일한 결과를 보였다. 군청의 색상은 원료 중의 성상, 소성 조건에 대단히 민감하며 동일한 원료에 대해서도 재현성이 낮았다. 환원 소성 시 승온율은 군청 생성에 매우 중요한 인자이며 분말 소성 시 소성 규모에 따라 값이 달라진다. 본 연구에서 사용한 3 ${\ell}$, 용량일 경우 승온율 $0.6^{\circ}C/min$, 반응온도 $850^{\circ}C$ 그리고 반응시간은 4시간 이상이 필요하였다. 녹색군청의 산화 공정에서 필요한 공기 양은 녹색군청 kg당 $500{\sim}550\;{\ell}$ 이고 적정한 반응온도는 $500{\sim}550^{\circ}C$에서 청색($-b^{\ast}$) 값이 가장 높았다.

Ceria 촉매상에서 탈수가 DMC 합성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Dehydration on DMC Synthesis over Ceria Catalysts)

  • DMC (dimethyl carbonate)를 합성하기 위하여 ceria 계열의 촉매를 이용하여 반응 조건을 확인하는 연구를 수행하였다. 촉매의 합성 조건을 찾기 위하여 소성 온도와 Cu(II)의 함량을 조절하였고, 완성된 촉매는 NH3-TPD를 이용하여 반응성(산점)을 확인하였다. DMC를 합성하기 위하여, 산화카르보닐화법(oxidative carbonylation, 일산화탄소와 산소를 메탄올과 반응)과 직접합성법(direct synthesis, 이산화탄소를 메탄올과 반응)을 적용하였다. 르샤틀리에의 원리에 따라, 반응 중 생성되는 물을 제거하여 반응성(메탄올 전환율)을 향상시키고자 하였으며, 이를 위해 화학적 탈수제(chemical dehydration agent)인 2-cyanopyridine를 사용하였다. 화학적 탈수 반응을 산화카르보닐화법에 적용하였을 경우, 메탄올 전환율은 15.1%에서 38.7%, DMC 선택도는 0%에서 98.8%까지 향상되었다. 이를 직접합성법에 적용하였을 경우, 메탄올 전환율은 1.0%에서 77.8%, DMC 선택도는 41.2%에서 100.0%까지 향상되었다.

Metal effects in Mn-Na2WO4/SiO2 upon the conversion of methane to higher hydrocarbons

  • The roles of Na, Mn, W and silica, and the synergistic effects between each metal in the $MnNa_2WO_4/SiO_2$ catalyst have been investigated for oxidative coupling of methane (OCM). The crystallisation of amorphous silica during calcination at $900^{\circ}C$ was promoted primarily by Na, but Mn and W also facilitated this process. The interaction between Na and Mn tended to increase the extent of conversion of $Mn_3O_4$ to $Mn_2O_3$. The formation of $Na_2WO_4$ was dependent on the order in which Na and W were introduced to the catalyst. The impregnation of W before Na resulted in the formation of $Na_2WO_4$, but this did not occur when the impregnation order was reversed. $MnWO_4$ formed in all cases where Mn and W were introduced into the silica support, regardless of the impregnation order; however, the formation of $MnWO_4$ was inhibited in the presence of Na. Of the prepared samples in which a single metal oxide was introduced to silica, only $Mn/SiO_2$ showed OCM activity with significant oxygen conversion, thus demonstrating the important role that Mn plays in promoting oxygen transfer in the reaction. The impregnation order of W and Na is critical for catalyst performance. The active site, which involves a combination of Na-Si-W-O, can be formed in situ when distorted $WO_4^{2-}$ interacts with silica during the crystallisation process facilitated by Na. This can only occur if the impregnation of W occurs before Na addition, or if the two components are introduced simultaneously.

KF/MgO 촉매를 이용한 Dibenzothiophene Sulfone 분해반응 (Decomposition of Dibenzothiophene Sulfone over KF/MgO Catalysts)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 산화탈황 공정의 부산물인 dibenzothiophene sulfone의 분해반응용 KF/MgO 촉매를 개발하는 것이다. MgO 지지체에 KF를 담지시켜 KF/MgO 촉매를 제조하였다. KF 담지량 및 소성 효과 등이 촉매 특성에 미치는 영향을 BET표면적, XRF, XRD, 이산화탄소 승온탈착 실험 등을 통해서 분석하였다. Dibenzothiophene sulfone을 biphenyl 과 이산화황으로 분해하는 반응에서의 촉매 특성을 조사하였다. MgO 촉매에 KF를 담지하면 DBTS 분해반응 활성이 증가하였다. KF/MgO 촉매를 제조하여 373 K에서 건조과정만 거친 촉매의 활성이 고온에서 소성을 거친 촉매의 활성보다 높았으며, 이는 fluoride 이온 ($F^-$)이 염기도를 증가시키는 역할을 하기 때문으로 판단된다. KF를 10 wt% 담지한 촉매가 dibenzothiophene sulfone 분해 반응에서 가장 뛰어난 활성을 보였다.

Pyrolysis kinetics and microstructure of thermal conversion products on toluene soluble component from two kinds of modified pitch

  • Modified pitch A (MPA) and modified pitch B (MPB) were prepared by oxidative polymerization and thermal polycondensation reaction with refined pitch as the raw material, respectively. The toluene soluble components (TS-1 and TS-2) were obtained by solvent extraction from MPA and MPB, separately. The Flynn-Wall-Ozawa method and Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose method were used to calculate the pyrolysis activation energy of TS. The Satava-Sestak method was used to investigate the pyrolysis kinetic parameters of TS. Moreover, the optical microstructure of the thermal conversion products (TS-1-P and TS-2-P) by calcination shows that TS-1-P has more contents of mosaic structure and lower contents of fine fiber structure than TS-2-P. The research result obtained by a combination of X-ray diffraction and the curve-fitting method revealed that the ratios of ordered carbon crystallite (Ig) in TS-1-P and TS-2-P were 0.3793 and 0.4417, respectively. The distributions of carbon crystallite on TS-1-P and TS-2-P were calculated by Raman spectrum and curve-fitting analysis. They show that the thermal conversion product of TS-2 has a better graphite crystallite structure than TS-1.

계룡산 석간주를 사용한 흑색 안료 개발 (Development of Black Pigment Using Seokganju of Mountain Gyeryong)

  • We collected Seokganju minerals (regions in Gyeryong Mountain, Sangsin-ri, Banpo-myeon, Gongju Chungcheongnam-province), which were used as natural color pigments for grayish-blue during the 15th~16th centuries of the Joseon era, and investigated their crystallographic features to develop a black pigment having a spinel structure. By a Raman analysis, the color of Seokganju under transparent glaze as a pigment for painting was black because hematite ($Fe_2O_3$) in Seokganju was converted to magnetite ($Fe_3O_4$) However, Seokganju into the transparent glaze as a pigment was brown because of hematite ($Fe_2O_3$) and small amounts of maghemite (${\gamma}-Fe_2O_3$) in Seokganju minerals. Only Seokganju mineral is used, it is not suitable for black pigment into the transparent glaze. This study tried to develop a spinel crystal black pigment stabilized by Seokganju with CoO, $Cr_2O_3$, NiO, and $MnO_2$ at $1280^{\circ}C$. A Raman spectroscopy analysis was performed to verify the presence of Mn The results showed that it existed as spinel, and two crystal phases $CoFe_2O_4$ and $MnFe_2O_4$ were mixed. $CoFe_2O_4$ spinel has a dark grayish black color and $MnFe_2O_4$ spinel has a greenish black color, and these two appeared as black. The color of a specimen calcined by adding 6 wt% of pigment mixed with 5 wt% of $MnO_2$ added to lime glaze was analyzed with a UV spectrophotometer. When applying the color pigment, it appeared black stabilized with $L^*$24.23, $a^*$ 0.12, $b^*$ -2.29 at $1260^{\circ}C$ oxidative calcination, With $1240^{\circ}C$ reduction firing, it is appeared black stabilized with low brightness of $L^*$ 23.13, $a^*$ -1.12, $b^*$ 0.54.
