This is to determine current status and historical trends of the health of Korean adolescents. Adolescence is not only a time of health and well-being, but also a time of experimentation and of being at risk of significant threats by health-damaging behaviors. A comprehensive overview through a review of major national demographic data on health-related issues would give health professionals chances to deal with Korean adolescents' unique needs to improve their health.

Nanotechnology for cancer therapy is playing a pivotal role in dramatically improving current approaches to cancer detection, diagnosis, and therapy while reducing toxic side effects associated with previous cancer therapy. A widespread understanding of these new technologies will lead to develop the more refined design of optimized nanoparticles with improved selectivity, efficacy and safety in the clinical practice of oncology. This review provides an integrated overview of applications and advances of nanotechnology in cancer therapy, based on molecular diagnostics, treatment, monitoring, target drug delivery, approved nanoparticle-based chemotherapeutic agents, and current clinical trials in the development of nanomedicine and ultimately personalized medicine.

This paper provides an overview of the security in the System Architecture Evolution (SAE) / Long-Term Evolution (LTE) system. Security is an integral part of SAE/LTE with improvements over the Third Generation (3G) system. This paper reviews the SAE/LTE system architecture, and discusses the security requirements, algorithms, Authentication and Key Agreement (AKA), Security Mode Command (SMC), key hierarchy and security for mobility.

This paper was prepared to have an overview of the Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER ) activities in Korea in order to facilitate further development of Korea LTER Network in the coming 21th century. After the background for the development of the Korea LTER network was reviewed, the network activities of Korea as well as of the world were introduced for sound management and conservation of ecosystems, which can be ultimately carried out by the long-term ecological researches whose results can secure comparability in the dimension of time and space.

A big boom in nanocomposites research has landed also in Japan. As a virtual 'center of excellence' in composites technology there, ACE TeC of ISTA/JAXA has led pioneering portions of nanocomposites research particularly in mechanical properties oriented applications. An overview of research activities based on nano-technologies in ACE TeC/JAXA will be given first and some remarkable results will be introduced briefly.

This paper presents an overview of inventory management. This includes a categorization, by a number of dimensions, of inventory problems and associated models. Relevant literature references are provided within the dimensions. The paper points out the continuing gap between theory and practice, followed by a number of suggested research topics to help bridge the gap.

I provide an overview of the application of hydroacoustic methods in South Korea to understand the current research status in relation to fisheries acoustics and to determine which areas require further study. One main purpose for using a scientific echosounder, a representative tool using the hydroacoustic method, is to evaluate the abundance of fisheries resources. Thus, two representative methods for abundance estimation are described. The history of fisheries acoustics worldwide is also summarized.

Satellite Technology Research Center(SaTReC) of Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(KAIST) has started a collaborative research, development, and training program in the field of space technology. As the result of that, SaTReC has successfully developed and operated the KISTAT-1, which is the first Korean satellite system. From the experience gained. SaTReC has developed the KITSAT-2 with its own technology and man-power and acquired the capability to design and to manufacture small satellite systems. In this paper, an overview of KITSAT-1/2 microsatellite systems and operational results are introduced.

R is an open source language for statistical computing and graphics based on the ACM software award-winning S language. R is widely used for data analysis and has become a major vehicle for making available new statistical methodology. This paper presents an overview of the design philosophy and the development model for R, reviews the basic capabilities of the system, and outlines some current projects that will influence future developments of R.
