Novel Driving Method for fast Response Time in Vertical Alignment LCDs

  • The switching mechanism of multi-domain vertical alignment mode LCD and delayed on response time phenomenon in special conditions are investigated. A modified DCC (Dynamic Capacitance Compensation), DCCII has been developed for the fast response time performance in PVA TFT-LCD TVs. DCCII applies a pre-tilt voltage to addressed pixels during the previous frame in addition to an overshoot voltage. In result, the response time less than 8 msec, has been obtained for all moving images through the DCCII technique.

A Pilot Study on the Muscle Activities in Step Input Test as an Indicator of the Vehicle Characteristics

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze 'response time', 'peak response time' and 'overshoot value' for each muscle by applying the EMG signal to the vehicle response in ISO 7401 and to quantify the response of the driver according to vehicle characteristics by comparing vehicle characteristics and muscle responses of the driver. Background: The Open-loop test defined in international standards ISO 7401 is the only method for evaluating the performance of the vehicle. However, this test was focused only on mechanical responses, not driver's ones. Method: One skilled male driver(22 yrs. experience) was participated in this experiment to measure muscle activities of the driver in transient state. Then the seven muscle signals were applied to calculate 'response time', 'peak response time', and 'overshoot value'. Results: In the analyses of the EMG data, the effects of vehicle type and muscle were statistically significant on the 'response time' and 'peak response time'. Also, the effects of vehicle type, muscle, and lateral acceleration level were statistically significant on the 'overshoot value' in this study. According to the analyses of the vehicle motion data, vehicle motion variable(LatAcc, Roll, YawVel) was statistically significant on the 'response time' and vehicle type, vehicle motion variable, and lateral acceleration level were statistically significant on the 'peak response time', respectively. Conclusion: In the analyses of the 'response time' and 'overshoot value', the data of muscle activities(EMGs) was better index that could evaluate the vehicle characteristic and performance than the data of vehicle motion. In case of peak response time, both EMG and vehicle motion data were good index. Application: The EMGs data from a driver might be applicable as index for evaluation of various vehicle performances based on this study.

  • 본 논문에서는 동일한 회로소자 파라미터를 적용한 상태의 boost converter를 microstrip 구조의 PCB설계와 reference plane을 적용하지 않은 양면 PCB설계에 대하여 각각의 회로를 모델링하였다. 각 회로의 소자사이의 배선거리를 동일하게 5cm로 구성하였고, 스위칭 주파수를 100kHz로 스위칭할 경우 전력 스위치의 출력 전압/전류에서 발생하는 신호 반사에 의하여 발생하는 overshoot와 주파수 스펙트럼에서 발생하는 잡음을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 비교 분석하였다.

  • Series connection of power semiconductor devices is selected in high voltage and high power applications. It is important to prevent the overvoltage from being induced across a device above ratings by the proper voltage balancing in the field of IGBT series connection. In addition, the overvoltage induced by a stray inductance has to be limited in the high power circuit. This paper proposes a new gate control scheme which can balance the voltage properly and limit the overshoot by controlling the slope of collector voltage under the turn-off transient in the series connected IGBTs. The proposed gate control scheme changes the slope of collector voltage by sensing the collector voltage and controlling the gate signal actively. The new series connected IGBT gate driver is made and its validity is verified by the experimental results for series connected IGBT circuit.

High Precision Pressure Control of a Pneumatic Chamber using a Hybrid Fuzzy PID Controller

  • A hybrid fuzzy PID controller for a pneumatic chamber is proposed in this paper. First, a mathematical model of a pneumatic pressure servocontrol system was developed where separate implementations of a PID controller and a fuzzy controller were made. The experimental results using a step input signal revealed that the PID controller accurately controlled the steady-state pressure but did not robustly handle parameter variations in the system while the fuzzy controller provided a fast rise time and low overshoot of the pressure in the system. In order to attain the advantages of both the fuzzy and PID controllers, a hybrid control scheme was developed. The experimental results show that the hybrid fuzzy PID controller proposed in this study does indeed possess the advantages of both PID and fuzzy controllers. Hence, it can be concluded that the hybrid fuzzy PID controller is suited for high-precision control of pressure in a pneumatic chamber.

스크류 잭 및 댐퍼를 이용한 가동질량 레일의 평형제어 (The Balancing Control of Moving Mass Rail by a Screw Jack and Damper)

  • A delivery ship is used to handle the cargo with the crane to/from the ships. The ship is inclined in the direction of a cargo which is hung on a crane. In this case, a arc shaped rail should be in the equilibrium state to get good anti-rolling performance. In this study, a device and control algorithm are developed to take accurate and quick equilibrium of the rail. The device is composed of a hinged immovable support, screw jack and damper. And the control system is based on I-PD control law to consider of control input saturation and overshoot. The controller is composed of integral controller of feedforward path and proportional-derivative controller of feedback path. The parameters of controller is designed to follow the reference signal and to remove overshoot. The simulation results show that the desirable control performance is achieved.

EPD 신호궤적을 이용한 플라즈마 식각공정의 실시간 이상검출 (Real-time malfunction detection of plasma etching process using EPD signal traces)

  • This paper presents a novel method for real-time malfunction detection of plasma etching process using EPD signal traces. First, many reference EPD signal traces are collected using monochromator and data acquisition system in normal etching processes. Critical points are defined by applying differentiation and zero-crossing method to the collected reference signal traces. Critical parameters such as intensity, slope, time, peak, overshoot, etc., determined by critical points, and frame attributes transformed signal-to symbol of reference signal traces are saved. Also, UCL(Upper Control Limit) and LCL(Lower Control Limit) are obtained by mean and standard deviation of critical parameters. Then, test EPD signal traces are collected in the actual processes, and frame attributes and critical parameters are obtained using the above mentioned method. Process malfunctions are detected in real-time by applying SPC(Statistical Process Control) method to critical parameters. the Real-time malfunction detection method presented in this paper was applied to actual processes and the results indicated that it was proved to be able to supplement disadvantages of existing quality control check inspecting or testing random-selected devices and detect process malfunctions correctly in real-time.

  • In this paper, A last time delay damper is presented for HB ( HyBrid ) step motor, which has large oscillation characteristics.The design objective is to develop a cost-effective and good-performance damper that would be applyed to HB step motor / driver system without the addition of transducer that would add a weight, size and cost to the system. The Back EMF signal which is recovered from current and voltage signal is used for the measuring the rotor position. It would be possible to get more accurate delay time for the motor driver system. It is proved that the maximum overshoot can be reduced to 13% at stopping through experiment.

Morphology-pair 연산과 중간 값을 이용한 심전도 신호의 기저선 변동 잡음 제거 (Removing Baseline Drift in ECG Signal using Morphology-pair Operation and median value)

  • 본 논문에서는 심전도 파형에서 P, R, T-wave와 같은 local maxima 신호 영역과 Q, S-wave와 같은 local minima 신호영역을 제거하여 기저선 변동 잡음을 제거하기 위한 방법을 제시한다. 이를 위해 형태연산을 개선한 morphology-pair 연산을 심전도 파형에 적용하고, 그 결과 발생되는 돌출 파형을 제거하고자 중간 값 연산을 적용하였다. 제안한 알고리즘의 성능을 확인하기 위해 실제 심전도 임상 데이터인 MIT/BIH 데이터베이스를 이용하였으며, 실험 결과 원 신호를 왜곡 하지 않고, 기저선 변동 잡음을 효과적으로 제거함을 확인하였다.
