  • In 3-phase 4 wire system, appearance of the $3^{rd}$ harmonic current by increasing non-liner load is the one of causes overheating neutral wire of power line, and apparatus. So it is necessary to protect power-factor decreasing by the $3^{rd}$ harmonic, and electric power apparatus, and line safely, in this study, power system accidents caused by the $3^{rd}$ harmonic were investigated, then harmonic components analysis and unbalanced load analysis got accomplished. As result, we proposed the method to protect the power line and apparatus from over-current of neutral line by using the most economic 4-pole low voltage circuit breaker.

  • Brass was electrodeposited over the range of the current densities from 2 to 8 A/$dm^2$ in cyanide bath at 20 and 40$^{\circ}C$. The cathode overpotential increased and the cathode efficiency was decreased respectively with decreasing temperature, increasing current density and addition of organic substance. The perferred orientation of the deposits were associated with the cathode overpotential and the nucleation energy of lattice planes. The (111) preferred orientation developed at the low current density and low cathode overpotential (440-520mV). On the other hand, the (111)+(100) preferred orientation developed at higher cathode overpotential (528-680mV). The (111)+(100) preferred orientation developed over the whole range of overpotential in the cyanide solution with organic additive. The copper content of deposit decreased with increasing current density and decreasing temperature. The morphology of the deposits with no additive was the polygonal body type of structure and the structure of the cross section was columnar structure. The morphology of the deposits with additive, on the other hand, was fine crystallite type of structure. And the structure of the cross section of them was the finer granular structure.

  • The conventional Residual Current Protective Devices(RCD, or earth leakage circuit breaker, ELB) operates depending on the total leakage current which is the vector-sum of resistive and capacitive components of a leakage current. However, the electric disaster such as electric shock or fire is mainly caused by the resistive component. Therefore, in this view point, the RCD is more realistic when it operates by the resistive component of the leakage current. In this paper, a new algorithm for measuring the resistive leakage current from the total leakage current is suggested, and is realized to an actual circuit. According to the suggested algorithm, the resistive component of the leakage current can be found by integrating the total leakage current over only a half cycle of the line voltage, and it is realized by using analog switches and resettable integrators. It is confirmed through experiments that the suggested algorithm detects, within maximum average error of 6.74%, the resistive leakage current from the total leakage current, and the RCD employing the suggested algorithm brakes the circuit within the regular interrupt time(30msec).

  • In this study, temperature dependency of current gain for AlGaAs/GaAs/GaAs HBT is analytically proposed over the temperature range between 300K and 600K. Energy bandgap, effective mass, intrinsic carrier concentration are considered as temperature dependent parameters. Collector current which is numerically calculated is then analytically expressed to enhance the speed of calculation for current gain. From the results, current gain decreases as the temperature increases. These results will be used to expect the unity current gain frequency f$_{T}$ in conjunction with emitter-base and collector- base capacitances.s.

  • In this paper, the Ternary adder and multiplier are implemented by current-mode CMOS. First, we implement the ternary T-gate using current-mode CMOS which have an effective availability of integrated circuit design. Second, we implement the circuits to be realized 2-variable ternary addition table and multiplication table over finite fields GF(3) with the ternary T-gates. Finally, these operation circuits are simulated by Spice under $1.5{\mu}m$ CMOS standard technology, $1.5{\mu}m$ unit current, and 3.3V VDD voltage. The simulation results have shown the satisfying current characteristics. The ternary adder and multiplier implemented by current-mode CMOS are simple and regular for wire routing and possess the property of modularity with cell array.

  • A finite difference model for predicting time-dependent, wave-induced nearshore current is studied. The model includes wave refraction, wave-current interaction, bottom friction and wind effect. This model iteratively solved the linear the linear set of conservation of both mass and momentum, which were time averaged (over one wave period) and depth integrated, for mean velocities and free surface displacement. Numerical simulations of nearshore current under oblique wave attack, and for wave and wind induced current on a longshore periodic beach are carried out. Longshore velocities tend to zero in some distances outside the breaker line. And the peak velocity is shifted shoreward at the breaker line. The results represent the general characteristics of the nearshore current induced by wave.

The governing equation of this study is develope as wave-current equation type to investigate the effect of wave-current interaction. It starts from Berkhoff's(1972) mild slope equation and is transformed to time-dependent hyperbolic type equation by using variational principal. Finally the governing equation is shown as a parabolic type equation by splitting method. This wave-current model was applied to the kwangan beach which is located at Pusan. The numerical simulation results of this model show the characteristics of wave transformation and flow pattern around the Kwangan beach fairly well.

  • This paper presents a method for the performance improvement of a shunt active power filter (SAPF) using the indirect current control (ICC) scheme. Compared to the conventional direct current control (DCC) scheme, the ICC gives better performance with a lower number of sensors. A simplified and efficient control algorithm using a low cost Intel 80C196KC microcontroller is implemented using only two current sensors for the source current and one voltage sensor for the DC-link voltage of the SAPF circuit. The objective is to eliminate harmonics and to compensate the reactive power produced by non-linear loads such as an uncontrolled rectifier feeding an inductive load. The APF is realized using a three phase voltage source inverter (VSI) with a dc bus capacitor. Experimental results are presented to prove the better performance of the ICC method over the DCC one.

  • As high temperature superconductor applications became a reality due to increase in coated conductor performance, it is important to understand their stability behavior to design safe electrical power systems. Coated conductors can be stabilized with different metals and alloys for different types of application, to yield excellent electrical, thermal and mechanical performance. We have experimentally studied the dependence of quench and recovery characteristics of stainless steel stabilized coated conductors on the amplitude of current and duration time. Stability test of 3cm long sample were performed in a liquid nitrogen bath cooling condition by applying a short period over current pulses for 50 and 100ms, with amplitude up to ~6 times the critical current. The transport current that flows before and after the current pulse was fixed at about ~80-85% critical current. We analyzed the quench and recovery phenomena of the test sample using the current voltage characteristic.
