  • In the present study, hybrid vigour in terms of heterosis and over dominance of newly evolved bivoltine hybrids and their reciprocals raised from the promising newly evolved bivoltine breeds were calculated for the important parameters like pupation, cocoon yield, cocoon weight, shell weight, shell ratio, raw silk percentage, filament length and neatness. Through there was no significant difference among the hybrids for the characters pupation, cocoon yield and cocoon weight, the magnitude of heterosis and over dominance were varied significantly for these characters. However, significant differences were observed between new hybrids and control hybrid for the characters like cocoon shell weight, cocoon shell ratio, filament length and raw silk percentage. The results indicate that majority of new hybrids have shown higher heterosis and over dominance than control hybrid. The data also indicate that highest mean heterosis of all new hybrids was recorded for cocoon yield followed by filament length. Whereas highest mean over dominance was recorded for cocoon yield followed by cocoon weight. Negative mean heterosis and over dominance were recorded for the trait cocoon shell ratio. Based on the results, the importance of three hybrids viz., CSR2 ${\times}$ CSR4, CSR2 ${\times}$ CSR5 and CSR3 ${\times}$ CSR6 and their reciprocals (CSR4 ${\times}$ CSR2, CSR5 ${\times}$ CSR2 and CSR6 ${\times}$ CSR3) which exhibited significant heterosis and over dominance, for commercial exploitation was discussed.

  • This Study was conducted to estimate the degree of dominance and gene frequency of some sueful characters in tobacco. The eight parents and a set of 28 crosses of F'1s was F'2s were used as materials, and planted on oriental's and burley cultivated system as randomized block designs, respectively. The observed characters were six agronomic characters which were plant height, number of leaves per plant, leaf length, leaf width, days to flowering and yield, and the data obtained from the experiment were analyzed from methods by Hayman's and Jinks. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. In Vr-Wr graphical analysis, number of leaves per plant, leaf length, days to flowering and yield were found to be inherited in partial dominance, and plant height was over dominance to be similar to complete dominance, but leaf width was inherited with partial dominance close to complete dominance. 2. In the gene frequency, two varieties Xanthi-Basma and KA 102, for days to flowering and yield had larger number of dominant genes as those were situated near the point of origen. 3. Additive effects of genes(D) were greater than dominance effects of Genes(H) for six agronomic characters except plant height, and mean degree of dominance over all loci was lower than 1 for days to flowering yield, leaf length and number of leaves per plant.

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the degrees and directions of dominance, and gene distributions by analysing diallel crosses of oriental varieties. The analysis of Wr-Vr indicated non-allelic gene interaction for days to (lowering and number of leaves. Five Plant characteristics showed different degrees of dominance : incomplete dominance for Plant height and leaf shape, over dominance for , wield and sugar, and complete dominance for nicotine. It was shown that additive genetic variance was predominant for plant height, leaf shape, and total sugar. More number of dominant genes were present in Kavala and canthi for Plant height; Basma, Samsun and Izmir for leaf shape ; and Basma and Samsun (or nicotine. Their directions of dominance were tall height, narrow leaves, and low nicotine, respectively.

  • When visual and auditory information is presented simultaneously, we perceive visual information dominantly over auditory information. This effect is called the visual dominance effect. This study was to examine the influence of semantic congruence of visual and auditory information on the visual dominance effect. The semantic congruence of visual and auditory information was manipulated. The results showed that the visual dominance effect obtained in error rates was not modulated by semantic congruence, whereas the effect in RT was. It is suggested that this modulation of the influence of semantic congruence on the visual dominance effect would be due to the task type.

  • Primary succession on bare rocks is a challenge for invaders, including one of which was plants. The invasion of bare rock by exotic species raises the question of whether their presence hinders or facilitates succession. This study aimed to determine the role of exotic species in primary succession in six overburden (OB) coal mines using a chronosequence approach. Vegetation analysis was undertaken using line transects. Measurements were carried out on the absolute and relative coverage of each species. Native and exotic species were identified and grouped using information from local communities, identification books, and websites. The relationship between time and number of species, time, and relative dominance of exotic and native species was analyzed using Pearson's correlation. Species number and dominance data were analyzed descriptively. The number of native species from the six OB heaps was higher (57) than that from exotic heaps (50). Neither the number of species nor the coverage showed a significant relationship with time. Exotic species predominated throughout the age of the embankment but tended to decrease over time. Temporary dominance by exotic species plays a role in assisting primary succession in the OB. This process might be prolonged without the temporary dominance of exotic species during early primary succession.

  • Radicoid structure of herbaceous communities in Mt. Kumbyung, Chunchon, Kangwon-Do was clarified emphasizing on the dominance of clonal plants in relation to vegetation development. In the total vegetation, 46% species identified were rhizomatous, 26% were species with tap roots, and 13% were stoloniferous species. Thus, all clonal species, including plants with bulb, corm and tuber, covered 62.8% of the total species. in the understory of Quercus, Pinus and Larix forests, 68.2% were clonal, which means 5% more compare to total vegetaion. Dominance of clonal plants became more conspicuous as their importance value was calculated. That is, they covered average 86% for the following three communities: 85% in Quercus, 95% in Pinus, and 76% in Larix, Especially, the rhizomatous plants were remarkable. Overall, clonal species dominated over the other radicoid types in terms of not only the number of species, but also the importance value. Dominance of these species was more peculiar in understory of forests, indicating the occupancy of clonal plants was related to the vegetation development.

  • Purpose According to a recent survey, more than 90% of customers make purchase or use decisions for their products and services, primarily based on word-of-mouth(WOM) information (reviews, recommendations, ratings, etc.). However, few studies have explored what factors influence user's WOM intention in the context of OTT service. To address this gap, this study investigates the antecedent factors of WOM intention by adopting stimulus-organism-response (SOR) theory and pleasure arousal dominance (PAD) theory as a theoretical basis. Design/methodology/approach The research model consists of stimulus factors (diversity of original content, aesthetics, interactivity, personalization quality), emotional factors (pleasure, excitement, dominance), and behavioral factor (WOM intention). The research hypothesis was tested using the survey data collected from OTT service users of 305. Findings The result reveals that diversity of original content significantly affects on pleasure and arousal whereas it is not associated with dominance. Findings indicate that aesthetics positively influences pleasure, and interactivity is not associated with arousal. It is also proven that personalization quality has a positive effect on dominance. In addition, pleasure, arousal, and domination are proven to be positively and significantly related to WOM intention.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of couples' conflict coping styles upon wives' marital adaptation. The results are as follows: First, the most often-used conflict coping style was 'compromise', and the least-used was 'smoothing over', in both cases of husbands and wives. Second, significant differences were found in 'compromise', 'integration', and 'smoothing over' between the cases of husbands and wives. For example, wives used 'compromise' and 'integration' more frequently than husbands, but 'smoothing over' was more often used by husbands. Third, the most important variable that influenced wives' stress and marital satisfaction was husbands' conflict coping styles. Their own conflict coping styles and demographic variables came as the next. Fourth, the only conflict coping style of wives that influenced the stress and the marital satisfaction was 'dominance'. On husbands' side, 'compromise (stress and marital satisfaction)' and 'dominance (marital satisfaction)' functioned as important variables.

  • This paper examines a highly used social networking site (SNS) by studying the behavior of more than 11 million members over a 20 month period. The importance of the most highly active members to the overall network is demonstrated by the significant fraction of total visits by extremely active members in a given period but such members have surprisingly short lifespans (an average of only 2.5 months) as social hubs. We form and test a number of hypotheses concerning these social hubs and the determinants of their lifespan. We find that the speed of achieving social hub status increases the lifespan of a social hub. The norm of reciprocity is strongly confirmed to be present in the social hub population as visits are reciprocated. We also find that increasing local dominance in terms of activities over neighboring agents leads to a longer lifespan of a social hub. Contrary to expectations, local clustering in the vicinity of social hubs is smaller (rather than larger) than overall clustering. We discuss managerial implications in the paper.

  • This study examined the association among personality, conflict strategies, and marital conflict. The subjects were 279 married women who completed a questionnaire for 4 personality types(extraversion-introversion, sensing-intuition, thinking-feeling, and judgement-perception), 5 conflict strategies(dominance, integration, compromise, avoidance, and smoothing over), and marital conflict. The results of this study were as follows: 1) Among the women of thinking-feeling type women, the thinking group tended to use more dominance conflict strategy than the feeling group. Among the women of judgement-perception type women, the judgement group tended to use more compromise conflict strategy than the perception group. 2) Results of hierarchical regression analysis revealed that two conflict strategies (dominance and compromise), two personality types (extraversion-introversion and sensing-intuition), and income were significant predictors of marital conflict for married women. Overall, we can conclude that marital conflict is more affected by the strategies for dealing with conflict than by individual personality.
