A Study on Over Current Protection Method of Unified Power Quality Conditioners (통합 전력품질 제어기의 과전류 보호방법에 관한 연구)

  • A protection scheme for Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) is presented and analyzed in this paper. The proposed UPQC has the series active power filter operated as a high impedance k($\Omega$) to the fundamentals when the over current occurs in the power distribution system, and three control strategies are proposed in this paper. The first is the method by detecting the fundamental source current through the p-q theory,[1] the second is the method by detecting the fundamental component of load current in Synchronous Reference Frame(SRF) and the third is the method by detecting the input voltage. When the over current occurs in the power distribution system, the proposed scheme protects the UPQC without additional protection circuits. The validity of proposed protection scheme is investigated through simulation results.

A clinical study of ADL and health related Behaviors of elders Aged 65 or over in Che-ju Area (제주지역 노인의 일상생활과 건강관리에 대한 임상적 연구)

  • Background: This study was carried out to find out general characteristics and health-related behaviors of elders aged 65 or over and factors related to their activities of daily living, and thus to contribute to their health maintenance and promotion. The subjects were 200 elders who had resided at Cheju city, with males and females was scaled 1 : 3. Methods: To collect data for study, the field survey was conducted from March 20 to October 31, 2016 with questionaire. Results: This study are as follows; 65.0% of the subjects were 65-75 years old, while 35.0% were 75years old or over, 20.5% of them were illterate, 46.5% could read and write Korean, graduated from elementary school, and 11.5% middle school or higher level. 28.5% of subjects perceived their current health status, 46.0% of men and 38.0% of women as fair, In general elderly men perceived their health status better than elderly women. Among the subjects, 62.0% of men and 57.0% of women reported that they experienced one or more illnesses during the last year. 76.0% of men and 33.0% of women were current smokers. 55.0% of current smokers. 55.0% of current make smokers smoked 11-12 cigarettes per day and 53.2% of current female smokers smoked less than 10 cigarettes per day. 76.0% of men and 37.3% of women drank alchol currently. 56.0% of men and 34.7% of women practiced regular exercise for their health maintenance and promotion. In general, 38.5% of subjects needed other's assistance for doing one or more Activites such as doing heavy home work, Walking up and down stairs or walking half a mile. Common disease of the subjects were hypertention, depenerative arthritis and diabetes mellitus in order. Conclusion: This study ADL activity are significant effect.

  • Electrical power distribution is consists of high voltage, low voltage and motor control center(MCC). Motor control centers involves turning the motor on and off, it is configured electronic over current relay to detect a motor overcurrent flows. Existing electronic over current relay detects electrical fault such as overcurrent, undercurrent, phase sequence, negative sequence current, current unbalance and earth fault. However, it is difficult to detect mechanical fault such as locked rotor, motor stator and rotor and bearing fault. In this paper, we propose a condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system for electrical and mechanical fault detection of rotating machinery. The proposed system is designed with signal input and control part, system interface part and data acquisition board for condition monitoring and fault diagnosis, it was possible to detect electrical fault and mechanical fault through measurement and control of insulation resistance, locked rotor, MC counter and bearing temperature.

  • This paper develops an optimized torsional design method of asymmetric wall structures considering deformation capacities of walls. Contrary to the current torsional provisions, a deformation based torsional design is based on the assumption that stiffness and strength are dependent. Current torsional provisions specify two design eccentricity of stiffness to calculate the design forces of members. But such a methodology leads to an excessive over-strength of some members and an optimal torsional behavior is not ensured. Deformation-based torsional design uses displacement and rotation angle as design parameters and calculates base shear for inelastic torsional response directly. Because optimal torsional behavior can be defined based on the deformation of members, deformation based torsional design procedure can be applied to the optimal and performance-based torsional design. To consider the effect of accidental eccentricity, an over-strength factor is defined. The over-strength factor is determined from performance level, torsional resistance and arrangement of walls.

  • This is a thesis that 100W class open frame type power module of a quarter-brick size appropriate for telecommunication is reported. The input voltage is established between 36 and 75 in range in order for power module to be utilized for the telecommunication, and output were set at 3.3V and 30A. A number of parts used for transformer, inductor, and hit sink are composed of PCB in order for DC-DC converter to be lowered below 8 mm. A constant current control circuit was annexed to the system as well as basic protection prototypes such as over-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature were well considered to enhance more credibility, and were tested. As a result, high circuit performance and credibility turned out to be significant.

  • In this paper the upwind flux difference splitting Navier-Stokes method has been applied to study the perfect gas and the equilibrium chemically reacting hypersonic flow over an axisymmetric sphere-cone(5°) geometry. The effective gamma(γ), enthalpy to internal energy ratio was used to couple chemistry with the fluid mechanics for equilibrium chemically reacting air. The test case condition was at altitude(30km) and Mach number(15). The equilibrium shock thickness over the blunt body region was much thinner than that of perfect gas shock. The pressure difference between perfect gas and equilibrium gas was about 3 ∼ 5 percent. The heat transfer coefficient were also calculated. The results were compared with VSL results in order to validate the current numerical analysis. The results from current method were compared well VSL results ; however, not well at near nose. The proper boundary condition and grid system will be studied to improve the solution quality.

A Framework for MPEG-4 Contents Delivery over DMB

  • Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) is an upcoming standard in Korea used to provide mobile multimedia broadcasting service based on the Eureka-147 Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system. The current dominant multimedia coding standard, MPEG-4, is foreseen to play an important role in forthcoming DMB services. However, the current approaches for transporting MPEG-4 content over DMB networks are not optimized. To address this issue we propose a novel MPEG-4 stream multiplexer, called M4SMux, which provides better stream multiplexing and delivery over DMB networks. M4SMux features an MPEG-4 elementary-stream interleaving mechanism that reduces the multiplexing overhead and a multiplex configuration mechanism that utilizes M4SLinkTable for easy content access. In addition, we propose an error correction method which enhances transport efficiency.

  • This paper investigates the high efficiency operation of a switched reluctance generator over a wide speed range. The system efficiency is improved by optimizing the current shape. A modified angle position control (MAPC) method that can be used to optimize the current shape over a wide speed range is proposed. Simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

  • Conductive metal matrix composite(MMC) material of 30% silicon carbide particulated based on aluminum matrix was machined by die sinking electrical discharge machining(EDM) process according to different current and duty factor for reverse polarity of electrode. Material removal rate(MRR) was examined by process under various operation conditions. The surface morphology was evaluated by surface roughness parameter and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) research. The MRR was suddenly increased over 11 ampere of current, and it was slightly changed over 0.3 of duty factor. The maximum surface roughness of EDMed surface was affected by the duty factor. The SEM photograghs of EDMed surface showed wide recast distribution region of melting materials as increased of current and duty factor.
