  • This paper describes a 3-phase Line-Interactive APF system and analyzes its operating characteristics considering LC Filter output characteristics. Topology of APF is similar to that of Off-Line UPS in the point of parallelly operating inverter system. So it is possible to be multi-functioned active compensating system according to power condition. Likewise this actively operating system from APF to UPS and vice versa is often to be called Line-Interactive system. And more than that Line-Interactive system needs precise design of LC filter on converter output side to make this system fully operate in both APF and UPS modes. The problem in this point is how to design LC Filter to be contented with two different system characteristics so this paper analyzes this problem and proposes its design procedures. Then suggested filter design is verified to be contented by the simulations and experimental results

  • The U filter has been generally used to filter the output voltage of PWM inverter to the sinusoidal waveform. The resonant voltage on the output voltage of PWM inverter may be generated due to LC filter. This paper proposed the algorithm to damp the resonant voltage using the virtual resistor without decreasing the efficiency by the power loss in the real resistor The method is appled to the vector controlled induction motor driven by the PWM inverter with the LC filter. The simulation results are carried out to verify the performances of the proposed algorithm.

  • The design procedure for direct coupled combline filter with tapped line in/out was summarized on Ku-band satellite frequency downconverter for stellite application. We calculated the resonator dimensions, spacing between successive resonators, ground plane spacing and tapping position of in/output lines in accordance with the given procedure. Partitions wer eemployed between adjacent resonators by inserting irises to improve filter response characteristis. The designed filter was manufactued with aluminum alloy package to reduce mass, and resonators wer machined from the filter body and in/output lines wer fixed on resonators with epoxy to survive in vibration conditon during launch.

  • The LC filter design procedure of the inverter output filter is described. The transfer function of the filter output voltage to the load current is described with the capacitor value and the system time constant considering the system controller. By using the closed form of the relation between the filter capacitor value and the system time constant, the capacitor value can be calculated with the given system time constant and vice versa. It is more practical for the implementation of power and control circuit of inverter. And as the effect of the load current to the voltage distortion can be calculated from the closed form, it is possible to analyze the system how much the voltage waveform is distorted in case of the nonlinear load. All the proposed design procedure is verified with the simulation and experimental results.

  • In this paper, we propose a fault detection method for extended Kalman filter in decentralized filter structure. To detect a fault, a consistency between filter output and a monitoring signal is tested. State propagators are used to obtain the monitoring signal. However, the output of state propagator increases in magnitude and finally diverges as time runs. To solve such problem, two-propagator method was proposed for linear system. Two propagators are reset by Kalman filter output, alternatively, to avoid divergence. But a test statistics change abruptly at the reset instant in that method. Hence a N-step propagator method is proposed to fix up the problem. In the N-step propagator, only time propagations are performed from k-N+1 step to k step without measurement updates. A test statistics are defined by errors and its covariance between extended Kalman filter and N-step propagator. These fault detection methods are applied to integrated strapdown inertial navigation system (SDINS). By computer simulation, it is shown that the proposed methods detect a fault effectively.

  • This paper presents two fast least-squares lattice algorithms for adaptive nonlinear filters equipped with bilinear system models. The lattice filters perform a Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization of the input data and have very good numerical properties. Furthermore, the computational complexity of the algorithms is an order of magnitude snaller than previously algorithm is an order of magnitude smaller than previously available methods. The first of the two approaches is an equation error algorithm that uses the measured desired response signal directly to comprte the adaptive filter outputs. This method is conceptually very simple`however, it will result in biased system models in the presence of measurement noise. The second approach is an approximate least-squares output error solution. In this case, the past samples of the output of the adaptive system itself are used to produce the filter output at the current time. Results of several experiments that demonstrate and compare the properties of the adaptive bilinear filters are also presented in this paper. These results indicate that the output error algorithm is less sensitive to output measurement noise than the squation error method.

  • A design procedure for microstrip bandpass filters using step impedance resonators (SIR's) and tapped input/output to a conventional parallel coupled line bandpass filter is presented. The filter configuration consisting of both half-wavelength and SIR's suppreses to spurious resonance response near the second harmonics, while tapping techniques offer benefit in situations where the impractical. The measured frequency responses of the designed filter are in close agreement with the computed responses.

  • A microstrip bandpass filter using stepped impedance resonators and tapped input / output is realized with Teflon substrate, whose center frequency is 3.5 GHz and fractional bandwidth is 20%. In order to realize a wider bandwidth of 30%, the Crystal's design method and the input / output tapping scheme are used. Another microstrip filter designed as mentioned above is realized with Epsilam-10 substrate. This case shows good agreement between the theoretical responses and the measured ones.

  • A design for the input filter and the output filter of a single-phase UPS system is proposed. And also, this paper describes a reduction of the DC voltage ripple of a single-phase UPS. The input power of proposed UPS fluctuates with twice frequency of the utility source, which causes DC voltage fluctuation. The reduction of the DC voltage fluctuation requires a large DC link capacitor. The proposed method uses a LC series resonant filter paralleled with a conventional smoothing capacitor. The effectiveness of the proposed method was confirmed by simulation results.

  • In this paper, we propose a new multilevel nonlinear filter for simultaneous edge detection and noise suppression, which we call a order statistic-median hybrid(OMH) filler. The median-related filters cause an edge shift in the presence of an impulse near the edge. The proposed filter reduces such edge shifting while suppressing impulsive as well as nonimpulsive noise. We show that at the noisy edge point the OMH filter is substantially superior to the median filter, the $\alpha$-TM filter and the STM filter[I] in two respects: (a) the output bias error and (b) the output mean square error. Test results confirm that the OMH filter is robust in preserving sharp edges, inhibiting edge shifting, and suppressing a wide variety of noise. The structure for the OMH filter integrated circuit is also described.
