MOUSE를 활용한 미사리 조정경기장의 정량적 침수해석 (Quantifying Inundation Analysis in Misari motorboat racing stadium using MOUSE)

  • Recently, heavy rainfalls due to the climate change in Korea have caused inundation problems in urban sewer networks. In july 2006, a flooding accident at Misari motorboat racing stadium near the Han river occurred due to the effect of record-breaking outflow discharge from Paldang-dam. The purpose of this study was to simulate and analyze the flooding accident at Misari stadium by MOUSE model. The results of simulation analysis indicated that the total flood volume was $1,313,450m^3$. The effect of back water was 85.9% of the total volume which was caused by the manhole accident, and the effect of accumulated runoff was 14.1% of total volume which was caused by non-return valve shutdown. The simulation results of this MOUSE modeling that was linked to the boundary condition of the dynamic flows in the river by DWOPER model showed the potential of successful inundation analysis for sewer networks.

Application of a Distribution Rainfall-Runoff Model on the Nakdong River Basin

  • The applicability of a distributed rainfall-runoff model for large river basin flood forecasts is analyzed by applying the model to the Nakdong River basin. The spatially explicit hydrologic model was constructed and calibrated by the several storm events. The assimilation of the large scale Nakdong River basin were conducted by calibrating the sub-basin channel outflow, dam discharge in the basin rainfall-runoff model. The applicability of automatic and semi-automatic calibration methods was analyzed for real time calibrations. Further an ensemble distributed rainfall runoff model has been developed to measure the runoff hydrograph generated for any temporally-spatially varied rainfall events, also the runoff of basin can be forecast at any location as well. The results of distributed rainfall-runoff model are very useful for flood managements on the large scale basins. That offer facile, realistic management method for the avoiding the potential flooding impacts and provide a reference for the construct and developing of flood control facilities.

저수지 붕괴함수의 매개변수 결정이 유량과 침수범위에 미치는 영향 (Impact of Parameters of Nonlinear Breach Progression Curve on Outflow Rate)

  • A Numerical modeling approach is usually applied to reproduce the physical phenomena of a fill dam-break. The accuracy of the dam-break model depends on the physical structure that defines input variables such as the storage volume, breach formation and progress, and the parameters of the model, which are subjective as they are prescribed by users. In this study, a sensitivity analysis was performed for the nonlinear breach progression curve that was already developed, which includes four parameters. The study focuses on the two of the parameters which control the breach forming time and peak discharge. The model is coupled with a two-dimensional flood simulation model (FLO-2D) to examine flood coverage and depth. It is generally observed that the parameter ${\beta}$ controls only the breach forming time, the parameter ${\gamma}$ is particularly sensitive to the peak flow.

  • 도시화에 의한 도시수문사상의 급격한 변화는 도시지역의 주요한 내배수 처리시설인 유수지의 새로운 운영조작기준을 요구하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 한강 홍수 특성을 고려한 서울시 지역의 내배수처리기법을 개발하기 위한 것으로서 설계강우양상의 변화에 따른 기존 유수지의 침수여부를 분석하고 한강의 계획홍수위에 대한 유수지의 수문안전도를 검토하였으며, 이를 통하여 유수지 운영조작기준을 새롭게 제시하였다. 순간강우강도법과 Huff의 4분위법에 의하여 설계강우양상이 결정되었으며, 유수지의 유입수문곡선은 ILLUDAS모형과 RRL법을 적용하여 얻어졌다. 기존의 유수지 배수펌프 운영조작기준은 유수지의 저류량과 펌프유출량이 선형적인 관계를 갖도록 되어 있으나 본 연구 결과 유입량의 증감여부에 따라 유수지의 저류량과 유입량을 조합한 Gauss함수형태의 배수펌프 운영조작기준이 유수지의 침수방지에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

정압비례제어방식을 적용한 정압급수장치의 개발 (Development of a constant pressure feed system using a constant pressure proportional control mode)

  • 자동 급수펌프는 압력스위치에 의해 운전 및 정지를 하게 된다. 따라서 수량 증감에 따른 펌프의 빈번한 운전 및 정지로 인해 지속적인 정격 및 정압 운전이 불가능하다. 또한 빈번한 작동으로 인해 지속적으로 일정한 압력을 얻을 수 없으며, 펌프의 소손과 에너지의 낭비가 심한 단점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 단점을 해결하고자 급수밸브, 유량센서, 제어장치로 구성되는 정압 급수장치를 설계 제작하였다. 급수밸브는 유출되는 물의 양과 관계없이 항상 일정한 양의 물을 유입하여 펌프의 부하를 줄이는 역할을 한다. 유량센서는 적외선 다이오드를 사용하여 유출되는 물의 양의 측정하며, 제어장치는 8 비트 마이크로프로세서를 이용하여 설계하였으며, 특별한 제어 알고리듬에 의해 펌프의 운전과 정지를 제어하게 하였다. 본 논문에서 개발한 장치는 토출 압력이 일정하게 유지되고 펌프의 작동 및 정지 동작이 부드럽게 이루어지며, 펌프의 지속적인 정압운전이 가능하므로 기존의 단점을 보완하는 장치로 사료된다.

팔당호의 계절별 열적 및 화학적 층화 특성 (Seasonal characteristics of thermal and chemical stratification in Lake Paldang)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the thermal and chemical stratification in Lake Paldang 2013-2018 weekly using Schmidt's stability index (SSI) and the index of chemical stratification (IC-i). The annual average for SSI was 19.1 g cm/㎠ with the maximum value of 45.3 g cm/㎠ in the summer and the minimum value of 4.8 g cm/㎠ in fall-winter showing seasonal differences as well as increased vertical mixing in the summer. The lake stability increased higher in 2016 as compared with the other period. The most influential factors of thermal stratification were temperature and heavy rainfall. Especially, high water temperature and a prolonged residence duration caused by reduced rainfall and inflows could result in an increase of the stratification period. While decreasing inflow and outflow at the end of the rainfall, the thermal stratification was restrengthened within 7-14 days, and then stabilized rapidly before the rainfall. IC-DO increased with high air temperature in the spring and fall-winter. However increasing sunshine duration and residence time and decreasing rate of outflow caused an increase of IC-DO in the summer. Rainfall (less than 800 mm/year) and discharge (less than 200 CMS) significantly declined in 2015 resulting in IC-DO (0.77) increased more than three times over the other years and bottom water hypoxia occurred. The SSI and IC-i used in this study could be applied to other lakes to understand changes in stratification and mixing dynamics.

탁수조절을 위한 소양호 선택취수설비 설치 효과 분석 (Effect of Installing a Selective Withdrawal Structure for the Control of Turbid Water in Soyang Reservoir)

  • One of the most important water management issues of Soyang Reservoir, located in North Han River in Korea, is a long term discharge of turbid water to downstream during flood season. Installation of a selective withdrawal structure (SWS) is planned by the reservoir management institute as a control measure of outflow water quality and associated negative impacts on downstream water use and ecosystem. The objective of the study was to explore the effectiveness of the SWS on the control of outflow turbidity under two different hydrological years; one for normal flood year and another for extreme flood year. A two-dimensional (2D), laterally averaged hydrodynamic and water quality model (CE-QUAL-W2) was set up and calibrated for the reservoir and used to evaluate the performance of the proposed SWS. The results revealed that the SWS can be an effective method when the ${\Theta}$ value, the ratio between the amount of turbid water that containing suspended sediment (SS) greater than 25 mg/L and the total storage of the reservoir, is 0.59 during the normal flood year. However, the effectiveness of the SWS could be marginal or negative in the extreme flood year when ${\Theta}$ was 0.83. The results imply that the SWS is an effective alternative for the control of turbid water for moderate flood events, but not a sufficient measure for large flood events that are expected to happen more often in the future because of climate change.

Transverse variability of flow and sediment transport in estuaries with an estuarine dam

  • Estuarine dams are dams constructed in estuaries for reasons such as securing freshwater resources, controlling water levels, and hydroelectric power generation. These estuarine dams alter the flow of freshwater to the coastal ocean and the tidal properties of the estuaries which has implications for the estuaries' circulation and sediment transport. A previous study has analyzed the effect of estuarine dams on 1D (along-channel) circulation and sediment transport. However, the effect of estuarine dams on the transverse variability of along-channel and across-channel circulation and sediment transport has not been studied and is not known. In this study, a coupled hydrodynamic-sediment dynamic numerical model (COAWST) was used to analyze the transverse variability of along-channel and across-channel flow and sediment transport in estuaries with estuarine dams. The estuarine dam was found to change the 3D structure of circulation and sediment transport, and the result was found to depend on the estuarine type (i.e., strongly stratified (SS) or well-mixed (WM) estuary). The SS estuary had inflow in the channel and outflow over the shoals, consistent with estuarine circulation. Longer discharge interval reduced the estuarine circulation. The WM estuary had inflow over the shoals and outflow in the channel, consistent with tide-induced circulation. As the estuarine dam was located nearer to the estuary mouth, the tide-induced circulation was reduced and replaced with estuarine circulation. The lateral circualtion was the greatest in the tide-dominated estuaries. It was reduced and changed direction due to differential advection change as the dam was located nearer the mouth. Overall, the WM estuary transverse flow structure changed the most. Lateral sediment flux was important in all estuaries, particularly for transporting sediments to the tidal flats.

Hedging Rule을 이용한 댐 연계 운영 최적화: 한강수계 사례연구 (Optimization of Multi-reservoir Operation with a Hedging Rule: Case Study of the Han River Basin)

  • 홍수기에 집중되는 유출량을 갈수기에 적절히 활용하기 위한 대표적인 구조물이 댐이다. 제한된 용수공급량을 적절히 분배해 용수수요량을 만족시키면서 미래 갈수기시 용수공급을 대비하여 댐 저류량을 조절하는 것이 댐 운영의 중요한 목적 중 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 갈수 시 댐 저류량에 따라 댐 계획방류량을 일정비율 줄여주는 Hedging Rule을 5단계로 적용하여 댐의 상시만수위 저류량에 대한 실제 저류량의 편차, 수요에 대한 용수공급 부족량, 그리고 하천유지용수 부족량을 목적함수로 하여 혼합정수 선형계획법(MILP, Mixed Integer Linear Programming)으로 저수지 연계운영모형을 구성하였다. 한강수계의 다목적댐인 충주, 횡성, 소양강 댐과 용수전용댐인 광동 댐, 그리고 발전용 댐이지만 비교적 큰 저류용량을 가진 화천 댐을 연계 운영 대상으로 하여, 수자원장기종합계획에 사용된 2003년 유출량 및 수요량 자료와 댐 운영 실무편람의 댐 계획방류량 자료를 10일 단위로 입력하여 GAMS/CPLEX를 이용해 최적화하였다. 그 결과 생공용수 수요량 99.99%, 농업용수 수요량 99.91%, 그리고 하천유지용수 수요량 100.00%를 충족시키면서도, 실제 2003년 운영자료에 비교하여 댐 저류효율이 10.04% 개선된 결과를 도출하였다.

제주도 넙치 양어장의 Edwardsiella tarda균의 분포에 관한 연구 (Spatial and Temporal Occurrence of Edwardsiella tarda at Flounder Farms in Jeju)

  • 제주도내 넙치양어장에 빈발하여 피해를 입히는 에드와드병의 원인균인 Edwardsiella tarda의 출현 시기와 분포를 알기 위하여, 1997년 6월부터 1998년 5월가지 제주도내 5개 넙치양어장에서 사용하고 있는 해수(주입수, 사육수, 배출수)와 사육중인 넙치의 장기조직 (간장, 비장, 신장, 장)을 조사하였다. 조사 방법은 해수인 경우는 DSSS배지에 직접 도말하는 방법과, 증균 배양후 도말하는 방법으로 균수를 계수하였고, 장기 조직은 각 장기를 호모게나이져 한 후 10배 희석계열을 만들어 DSSS한천배지에 도말하고 균수를 계수하였다. 그 결과를 요약하면 5개 넙치양어장의 해수에서 E. tarda의 검출은 주입수에서는 1997년 7월, 9월, 11월과 1998년 2월, 3월, 4월에 검출되었고, 사육수 및 배출수에서는 연중 검출되었으며, 특히 고수온기인 6월에서 9월 사이에 다른 달에 비하여 검출량이 높게 나타났다. 양어장에 따른 장기조직 내에서 E. tarda의 분포는 순환율이 낮고, 배설물과 찌꺼기 배출이 잘 되지 않은 장타원형 수조인 B양어장에서 검출량이 높게 나타났으며, 순환율이 높고 유기물 배출이 잘되는 A양어장은 전혀 검출이 안 되었으며, 동일조건인 양어장에서는 낮게 나타났다. 넙치 장기조직에 따른 E. tarda의 검출은 간장과 장에서 대체로 검출량이 높게 나타났으며, 특히 고수온기인 6월과 9월 사이에 높게 검출되었다.
