NGC 1333 is a nearby star forming region, and IRAS 4A and IRAS 4BI are low-mass Class 0 protostars. IRAS 4A is a protobinary system. The NGC 1333 IRAS 4 region was observed in the 22 GHz water maser with a high resolution (0.08") using the Very Large Array. Two groups of masers were detected: one near A2 and the other near BI. Most of the masers associated with A2 are located very close (< 100 AU) to the radio continuum source. They may be associated with the circumstellar disk. Since no maser was detected near AI, the A2 disk is relatively more active than the Al disk. Most of the masers in the BI region are distributed along a straight line, and they are probably related with the outflow. As in many other water maser sources, the IRAS 4 water masers seem to trace selectively either the disk or the outflow. Considering the outflow lifetimes, the disk-outflow dichotomy is probably unrelated with the evolutionary stage of protostars. A possible explanation may be that both the outflow-maser and the disk-maser are rare phenomena and that detecting both kinds of maser around a single protostar may be even rarer.
Energetic outflow from active galactic nuclei (AGNs) may play a critical role in galaxy evolution. We present a velocity diagnostics for detecting gas outflow in the narrow-line region of Type-2 AGNs using line-of-sight velocity offset of the [O III]${\lambda}5007$ and $H{\alpha}$ emission lines with respect to the systemic velocity of stars in host galaxies. We apply the diagnostics to nearby galaxies at 0.02 < z < 0.05: 3775 AGN-host and 907 star-forming galaxies as a comparison sample, which are selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey DR7. After obtaining a best-fit stellar population model for the continuum and a systemic velocity based on stellar lines, we subtract stellar component to measure velocity offsets of each emission line. We find a sample of 169 AGN-host galaxies with outflow signatures, displaying a larger velocity shift of [O III] than that of $H{\alpha}$, as expected in a decelerating outflow model. We find that the offset velocity of [O III] increases with Eddington ratio, suggesting that gas outflow depends on the energetics of AGN.

Outflows and jets from young stellar objects (YSOs) are prominent observational phenomena in star formation process. Indicating currently ongoing star formation and directly tracing mass accretion, they provide clues about the accretion processes and accretion history of YSOs. While outflows of low-mass YSOs are commonly observed and well studied, such studies for high-mass YSOs have been so far rather limited owing to their large distances and high visual extinction. Recently, we have found a number of molecular hydrogen (H2 1-0 S(1) at 2.12 micron) outflows in the long, filamentary infrared dark cloud (IRDC) G53.2 located at 1.7 kpc from UWISH2, the unbiased, narrow-band imaging survey centered at 2.12 micron using WFCAM/UKIRT. In IRDC G53.2 which is an active star-forming region with ~300 YSOs, H2 outflows are ubiquitously distributed around YSOs along dark filaments. In this study, we present the most prominent H2 outflow among them identified in one of the IRDC cores MSXDC G53.11+00.05. The outflow shows a remarkable bipolar morphology and has complex structures with several flows and knots. The outflow size of ~1 pc and H2 luminosity about ~1.2 Lsol as well as spectral energy distributions of the Class I YSOs at the center suggest that the outflow is likely associated with a high-mass YSO. We report the physical properties of H2 outflow and characteristics of central YSOs that show variability between several years using the H2 and [Fe II] images obtained from UWISH2, UWIFE and Subaru/IRCS+AO188 observations. Based on the results, we discuss the possible origin of the outflow and accretion processes in terms of massive star formation occurring in IRDC core.

A Ventricular assist device (VAD) is one of the most efficient treatments to raise the survivability of the end stage heart failure patient. However, some of LVAD patients have died for the failures and improper control of LVAD. To detect critical dangers in LVAD, the monitoring methods of LVAD outflow have been requested, because it can be affected by patient's hemodynamic states and abnormal conditions of LVAD. In the case of an external pulsatile LVAD, the air movement through the air line can be used to estimate LVAD outflow. In this study, the air movement in the air-line of the extracorporeal pulsatile LVAD was measured with a differential pressure sensor between different points. The precise estimation of air movement could be achieved by additional measurement of air pressure. In a series of in-vitro experiments, the LVAD outflow were changed according to the afterload of LVAD and the differential pressure of LVAD didn't have close correlation with the LVAD outflow that were measured with an ultrasonic flowmeter at the same time. However, new precise estimation with the data from differential pressure and one point pressure in the air-line showed higher correlations with LVAD outflow.
The structure and evolution of a thunderstorm outflow in two dimensions with no environmental wind are investigated using a cloud-resolving model with explicit liquid-ice phase microphysical processes (ARPS: Advanced Regional Prediction System). The turbulence structure of the outflow is explicitly resolved with a high-resolution grid size of 50m. The simulated single-cell storm and its associated Kelvin-Helmholtz (KH) billows are found to have the lift stages of development maturity, and decay. The secondary pulsation and splitting of convective cells resulted from interactions between cloud dynamics and microphysics are observed. The cooled downdrafts caused by the evaporation of rain and hail in the relatively dry lower atmosphere result in thunderstorm cold-air outflow. The outflow head propagates with almost constant speed. The KH billows formed by the KH instability cause turbulence mixing from the top of the outflow and control the structure of the outflow. Ihe KH billows are initiated at the outflow head, and pow and decay as moving rearward relative to the gust front. The numerical simulation results of the ratio of the horizontal wavelength of the fastest growing perturbation to the critical shear-layer depth and the ratio of the horizontal wavelength of the billow to its maximum amplitude are matched well with the results of other studies.
Using a large sample of 32,000 type 2 AGNs out to z = 0.2, we present the statistical results on the ionized gas outflows, based on the analysis of the velocity shift of narrow emission lines with respect to the systemic velocity measured from the stellar absorption lines. Considering the projection effect, the fraction of type 2 AGNs with the [O III] velocity offset, which is ~50%, is comparable to that of type 1 AGNs. The velocity dispersion of [OIII] is typically larger than that of Ha, suggesting that outflow is prevalent in type 2 AGNs. A weak correlation of the OIII luminosity with velocity shift and velocity dispersion indicates that outflow velocity is stronger for higher luminosity AGNs. Based on our 3-D biconical outflow models with simple assumptions on the velocity structure, we simulate the projected 2-D velocity and velocity dispersion maps, which are spatially integrated to reproduce the measurements of SDSS AGNs. By comparing the distribution of the measured velocity and velocity dispersion of OIII, with the model grids, we constrain the intrinsic outflow velocities. The outflow velocity ranges from a few hundreds to a thousand km/s, implying a strong feedback to ISM.
Role of the perforated pipe is to drain the water with equal pressure and velocity through the holes of perforated pipe. The perforated pipe is being used in many processes of water treatment system, however, the design parameter of perforated pipe is not standardized in korea. In this study, we have found the design parameter of perforated pipe in the water treatment system using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The uniformity of outflow from the perforated pipe is directly affected according to area ratio(gross area of holes/surface area of the perforated pipe). In other words, the uniformity of outflow is improved as area ratio is smaller. Also, at the same area ratio, the uniformity of outflow is improved as number of holes is increase. Specially, in case of the two holes per length of pipe diameter(2/D) shows the most uniformity of outflow and the best hydraulic with the smaller pressure drop. The uniformity of outflow is aggravated and the pressure drop of pipe is decrease as length of pipe is longer. In case of that pipe length is 10m and above, the pressure drop decreased about 30% when diameter ratio is 40% with 0.2% of area ratio by comparison with 0.1% of area ratio.
The difficulties to build a 3-dimensional water quality model for the coastal water quality improvement and the environmental recovery estimation are the lack of periodic observed data and the many problems to observe continuously. I observed the rainfall and non-point pollutants outflow patterns in Jinhae-Masan basin as mid-step researches for the water quality simulation and management method development in a coastal area. I applied Landsat image system and Geographic Information System to analyze the runoff and non-point pollutants outflow patterns. A water quality simulation model (SWMM) applied to Jinhae-Masan basin with results of the land use distribution, non-point pollution loads, and watershed informations from GIS(IDRISI used). I proposed some improved survey and GIS application methods reflect upon the pollutant characteristics from the observed non-point pollutant outflow patterns.
Water quality in the Daecheong reservoir has been deteriorated by algal bloom due to nutrient supply from the upstream of the Daecheong reservoir after heavy rainfall. Algal bloom is propagated from eutrophicated tributary into the main body of the reservoir according to the hydrological conditions. This study is aimed to estimate the water current and temperature effect by the simulation of dam spill flow control using water quality model, CE-QUAL-W2 in 2003. Water current was resulted in nutrient transport from upstream of main reservoir and nutrients were delivered up to downstream by fast water velocity. Algal blooms occurred in stagnate zone of reservoir downstream as the current of downstream was retarded according to dam outflow control. Consequently water balance in stagnate zone triggered a rise of water temperature in summer. It affected algal bloom in the embayment of the reservoir. The simulation result by outflow control scenarios showed that spill flow augmentation induced in water body instability of stagnate zone so that water temperature declined. It could be suggested that outflow control minimize algal bloom in the downstream in the flooding season as long as water elevation level is maintained properly.
The dynamic responses in the subsurface outflow, surface saturation area, soil moisture storage are established by numerical experiments with Richards equation. In addition to this, the dynamical relationship between surface saturation area and subsurface outflow, and between surface saturation area and soil moisture storage are also determined by varying the hillslope shape, soil type, and boundary condition. The simulation results indicate that the dynamical relationships between surface saturation area and subsurface outflow, and between surface saturation area and soil moisture storage are approximated by the steadystate relationships. And the dynamic responses of subsurface outflow and surface saturation area are characterized by the double peaks although the rainfall pattern is asimple pulse input. As a result of numerical simulation, the physical mechanism for the occurrence of the double peaks is explained using the concept of variable source area.
