Reconstruction of a full-thickness alar defect requires independent blood supplies to the inner and outer surfaces. Because of this, secondary operations are commonly needed for the division of skin flap from its origin. Here, we report a single-stage reconstruction of full-thickness alar defect, which was made possible by the use of a nasolabial island flap and septal mucosal hinge flap. A 49-year-old female had presented with a squamous cell carcinoma of the right ala which was invading through the mucosa. The lesion was excised with a 5-mm free margin through the full-thickness of ala. The lining and cartilage was restored using a septal mucosa hinge flap and a conchal cartilage from the ipsilateral ear. The superficial surface was covered with a nasolabial island flap based on a perforator from the angular artery. The three separate tissue layers were reconstructed as a single subunit, and no secondary operations were necessary. Single-stage reconstruction of the alar subunit was made possible by the use of a nasolabial island flap and septal mucosal hinge flap. Further studies are needed to compare long-term outcomes following single-stage and multi-stage reconstructions.

The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum slat angle of the venetian blind which was applied at an outer skin of a curtain-wall system. The evaluation of the blind slat angle was performed in terms of the comfortable visual environment and decreased energy consumption. The office building prototype was considered for the analysis and simulation variables include application of blind, blind slat angle and dimming control of lighting. The annual energy consumption and incidence rate of discomfort glare were analyzed using EnergyPlus which is developed by the U. S. Department of Energy for the detailed building energy simulation. As a result, it turns out that when the blind (reflectance: 0.5) was installed, the annual energy consumption was greater than that of the base model. However, when the dimming control was applied, the maximum energy saving of 16.3% could be achieved at a slat angle of $0^{\circ}$. In addition, in case of the base model, the incidence rate of discomfort glare was 84%, while the case of the blind with the slat angle of $0^{\circ}$ showed that the incidence rate of discomfort glare was 42.4%. Consequently, the results showed that the slat angle of $55^{\circ}$ with dimming control was the optimum strategy for the comfortable visual environment and decreased energy consumption.

The near-wall flow structures of turbulent boundary layer over riblets having semi-circular grooves were investigated experimentally for the drag decreasing ($s^+=25.2$) and drag increasing ($s^+=40.6$) cases. The field of view used for tho velocity field measurement was $6.75{\times}6.75mm^2$ in physical dimension, containing two grooves. One thousand instantaneous velocity fields over the riblets were extracted for each case of drag increase and decrease. For comparison, five hundreds instantaneous velocity fields over a smooth flat plate were also obtained under the same flow conditions. To see the global flow structure qualitatively, the flow visualization was also performed using the synchronized smoke-wire technique. For the drag decreasing case ($s^+=25.2$), most of the streamwise vortices stay above the riblets, interacting with the riblet tips. The high-speed in-rush flow toward the riblet surface rarely influences the flow inside tho riblet valleys submerged in the viscous sublayer. The riblet tips seem to impede the spanwise movement of the longitudinal vortices and induce secondary vortices. The turbulent kinetic energy in the riblet valley is sufficiently small to compensate the increased wetted area of the riblets. In addition, in the logarithmic region, the turbulent kinetic energy are small or almost equal to that of a smooth flat plato. For the drag increasing case ($s^+=40.6$), however, the streamwise vortices move into the riblet valley freely, interacting directly with the riblet inner surface. The penetration of the high-speed in-rush flow on the riblets increases tho skin-friction. The turbulent kinetic energy is increased in the riblet valleys and even in the outer region compared to that over a flat plate.
The chestnut is a well-blown and important forest product in Korea. The annual production of chestnut is about 95,000 tons and its cultivating area is 80,000 ha. However, the peeling process of outer and inner skins of chestnut is very difficult due to hardness and adhesiveness of chestnut skin. The purpose of this study was to develop a prediction model for flame peeling characteristics of domestic chestnuts, and to evaluate an optimization model to determine the operation conditions of the chestnut flame peeling system. The results of this study were summarized as follows. It was found that the flame peeling characteristics of domestic chestnuts were by the flame temperature, and the flame time. The peeling ratio and the heating depth were increased as the flame temperature and the flame time were increased. The peeling ratio and the heating depth were increased linearly when those were less than 85 % and 2 mm respectively. As the hardness of chestnut shell was decreased, the peeling ratio was increased. A simulation model was developed to predict the peeling ratio and the heating depth based on the hardness of the chestnut shell, the flame temperature, and the flame time of the peeling system. The model was evaluated by comparing the measurement and the prediction of the peeling ratios and heating depths, and showed the good relationship.

Since the infants' skin is very weak and has poor adaptability to environment, they are vulnerable to dermatitis by chemicals. Organic cotton for baby wear with the same functions in inner and outer wears can be considered the most suitable fiber. Therefore, this study was to analyze products and colors of domestic and Japanese baby wear brands which use organic cotton. Of total six organic brands for baby wear, there are three domestic baby wear brands and three Japanese brands, and design colors of total 213 items were examined on the web. The results of comparative analysis showed that there were more Japanese brands than domestic brand in designs by uses. Color analysis showed that natural cotton color was preferred and YR colors are commonly used, but the colors of Japanese brands were widely distributed and those of domestic brands were relatively narrow.
The purpose of this study is to help develop high quality brassieres with functionality and comfort, fitting adolescents' physical features during their growth period. This study conducts a comparative analysis of juvenile brassiere and adult brassiere to identify the problems of brassieres in the market. The raw data for this study was processed by SPSS 10.1. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1. The results of this survey show that the girls' satisfaction of their breasts has correlations between breast protrusion degree and volume. The girls think that if they have protrusive breasts their breast volume is big, and their breast satisfaction level shows high. 2. The results show that the objective of brassiere wearing is to prevent breasts sag and rupture, make good breast shape, balance their entire body shape, and make beautiful outer garment line. Brassiere functions are to prevent jiggle of breasts, make a good body line, and cover the nipples. For the grader school students, they are wearing brassiere to make a good balanced body and as their breasts developed, they are wearing brassiere for beautiful body shape not just to cover up their breasts. 3. In regard to brassiere cup size recognition, as students have higher grade at school, they have better recognition abouxt their cup size. As they are better aware of their cup size, they have better satisfaction with their cup size. Therefore, choosing the right size of brassiere for their bust is very important. 4. Girl students' brassiere preference shows that 317 students (56.9%) prefer white for brassiere colors, following pink and flesh color. Their most preferred brassiere material is cotton (354 people, 63.6%) because cotton is not sensitive even for weak skin. For brassiere style, 273 students (49%) prefer round style, following spots and mold. Their most preferred brassiere style is stake. In addition, brassiere should not press their breasts because their breasts are developing during puberty period.
Rubber hose assembly for automotive hydraulic brake during operation is subject to combined stresses of cyclic pressure, cyclic bending and torsion as well as thermal load. The rubber hose is composed of ethylene-propylene diene monomer(EPDM) rubber layers reinforced by polyvinyl acetate(PVA) braided fabrics. A durability tester with loading rigs for inducing the above cyclic stresses was used to investigate failure mechanisms in the rubber hose assembly. Failure examination was performed at every 100 thousands cycles of bending and torsion. Hose samples were sectioned with a diamond-wheel cutter and then polished. The polished surface was observed by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Some interfacial delamination with a length of about 1mm along the interface between EPDM rubber and PVA fabrics was shown at the test cycles of 400,000. The delamination induced some cracking into the outer rubber skin layer to leading the final rupture of the hose.

Objective: Pigment production and distribution are controlled through multiple proteins, resulting in different coat color phenotypes of sheep. Methods: The expression distribution of vimentin (VIM) and transthyretin (TTR) in white and black sheep skins was detected by liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization tandem MS (LC-ESI-MS/MS), gene ontology (GO) statistics, immunohistochemistry, Western blot, and quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) to evaluate their role in the coat color formation of sheep. Results: LC-ESI-MS/MS results showed VIM and TTR proteins in white and black skin tissues of sheep. Meanwhile, GO functional annotation analysis suggested that VIM and TTR proteins were mainly concentrated in cellular components and biological process, respectively. Further research confirmed that VIM and TTR proteins were expressed at significantly higher levels in black sheep skins than in white sheep skins by Western blot, respectively. Immunohistochemistry notably detected VIM and TTR in hair follicle, dermal papilla, and outer root sheath of white and black sheep skins. qRT-PCR results also revealed that the expression of VIM and TTR mRNAs was higher in black sheep skins than in white sheep skins. Conclusion: The expression of VIM and TTR were higher in black sheep skins than in white sheep skins and the transcription and translation were unanimous in this study. VIM and TTR proteins were expressed in hair follicles of white and black sheep skins. These results suggested that VIM and TTR were involved in the coat color formation of sheep.
After the model open-ended pile attached with strain gages was driven into a pressure chamber, in which the saturated microfine sand was contained, the static compression loading test was performed for that pile. Based on the test results, ultimate pile capacity was determined. Then, either simulated earthquake shaking or sinusoidal shaking was applied to the pile with the sustained certain level OP ultimate pile load. Then, pile capacity degradations characteristics during shaking were studied. Pile capacity degradation during two different shakings were greatly different. During the simulated earthquake shaking, capacity degradation depended upon the magnitude of applied load. When the load applied to the pile top was less than 70% of ultimate pile capacidy, pile capacity degradation rate was less than 8%, and pile with the sustained ultimate pile load had the degradation rate of 90%. Also, most of pile capacity degradation was reduced in outer skin friction and degradation rate was about 80% of ultimate pile capacity reduction. During sinusoidal shaking, pile capacity degradation did not depend on the magnitude of applied load. It depended on the amplitude and the frequency , the larger the amplitude and the fewer the frequency was, the higher the degradation rate was. Reduction pattern of unit soil plugging (once depended on the mode of shaking. Unit soil plugging force by the simulated earthquake shaking was reduced in the bottom 3.0 D, of the toe irrespective of the applied load, while reduction of unit soil plugging force by sinusoidal shaking was occurred in the bottom 1.0-3.0D, of the toe. Also, the soil plugging force was reduced more than that during simulated earthquake shaking and degradation rate of the pile capacity depended on the magnitude of the applied load.
Hastelloy X in this study was applied in jet engine F-15 air fighter as shroud to isolate the engine from outer skin. After 15 years operation at elevated temperature the mechanical properties decreased gradually due to the precipitation of continues second phases in the grain boundaries and precipitated inside the grain. The crack happened at the edge of the shroud due to the thermal and mechanical stress from jet engine. Selective TEM analysis found that the grain boundaries consist of $M_{23}C_6$ carbide, $M_6$ Ccarbide and small percentage of sigma(${\sigma}$) phase. Furthermore, it was confirmed the nano size of ${\sigma}$ and miu (${\mu}$) phase inside the grain. In this study, it was investigated the microstructure of the degraded shroud component and HAZ of repair welded shroud. In the HAZ, it was observed the dissolution of the $M_{23}C_6$ carbides and smaller precipitates, the migration of the undissolved larger $M_{23}C_6$ carbide and $M_6$ Ccarbide. It is also observed the liquation due to the simply melt of the segregated precipitates in the grain boundaries. Interestingly, the segregated second phases which simply melt in the grain boundaries more easily happened at higher heat input welding condition. High temperature tensile test was done at $300^{\circ}C$, $700^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$. It was obtained that the toughness of welded sample is lower compare to the non-welded sample. The solution heat treatment at $1170^{\circ}C$ for 5 minutes was suggested to obtain a better mechanical properties of the shroud. The high cycle fatigue number of the repair welded shroud shows a much lower compare to the shroud. In addition, the high cycle fatigue number at room temperature after solution heat treatment was almost double compare to the before solution heat treatment under 420-500MPa stress amplitude. However, the high cycle fatigue number of repaired welded sample was shown a much lower compare to the non- welded shroud and solution treated shroud. One of the main reasons to decrease the tensile strength and the high cycle fatigue properties of the repair welded shroud is the formation of the liquid phase in HAZ.
