Objectives : The aim of this study was to report that effect of Korean medicine treatment for patient with peripheral facial nerve palsy accompanied by hemifacial spasm through hospitalization. Methods : We treated a patient with facial nerve palsy by acupuncture, electroacupuncture, herbal medicine, pharmacopuncture and cupping. The effect of treatment was evaluated using the House-Brackmann scale, the Yanagihara grading system, and the visual analogue scale(VAS). Results : During the 18 days hospitalization period, the symptoms of hemifacial spasm disappeared and the facial palsy improved. The House-Brackmann scale changed from 4 grade to 2 grade, the Yanagihara grading system changed from 19 to 47, and the VAS changed from 3 to 0. Conclusions : This case report suggests that Korean medicine could be effective for facial palsy accompanied by hemifacial spasms.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Korean medicine treatments of abducens nerve palsy after cancer immunotherapy. Methods : A 63-year-old male patient who was suffering hepatocellular carcinoma had left eye abduction restriction, diplopia, and decreased visual acuity after taking 5^th cancer immunotherapy(atezolizumab + bevacizumab). Western medicine was administered for 3 weeks, but there was no response. The patient was treated with herbal medicine, acupuncture, electroacupuncture, moxibustion and bee venom pharmacoacupuncture for 4 weeks. Result : The patient's eye abduction restriction and diplopia were resolved. Visual acuity was improved from NRS(Numerical Rating Scale) 8 to NRS 2. The patient continued immunotherapy and there was no worsening of symptoms. No adverse events were observed. Conclusions : This study shows that Korean medicine treatments were effective on abducens nerve palsy after cancer immunotherapy.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report a case of erythematotelangiectatic type rosacea and peripheral facial palsy improved by Korean medicine treatment with Soshioho-tang gagambang. Methods : The patient visited our clinic due to facial flushing and peripheral facial palsy symptoms. Based on Sanghallon provision, we treated this case with Soshiho-tang gagambang. The result of treatment was evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), Dermatology Life Quality Index(DLQI) and House-Brackmann Grading System(HBGS). Results : After 12 days of taking Soshiho-tang gagambang, VAS of rosacea was decreased from 9 to 4 and DLQI was decreased from 22 to 5. After treatment, rosacea with facial flushing was improved and HBGS was reduced from 3 to 1. Conclusions : This study shows the possibility of taking Soshiho-tang gagambang for erythematotelangiectatic type rosacea and peripheral facial palsy derived from stress, fatigue and sleep disturbance according to Sanghallon provision.

Objectives : This study was carried out to report the effect of Korean medicine treatment on prurigo nodularis. Methods : We treated a 26-year-old female prurigo nodularis patient. The patient received Korean medicine treatments including acupuncture, herbal-medicine, pharmacopuncture at Daegu Haany University Korean medical hospital. We evaluated the degree of improvement in prurigo nodularis by using the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and counting nodules. Results : After treatments, the results of this patient showed improvements on pruritus, nodules. Nodules are removed, and pruritus decreased from VAS 10 to VAS 1. Conclusions : This study suggests that Korean medicine treatment may be effective on prurigo nodularis.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to analyze the acupuncture and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation(TENS) for tinnitus to identify the trend, effectiveness and mechanism. Methods : Research studies related to objectives were gathered through Pubmed, RISS, KISS, KCI, OASIS with keywords such as 'Tinnitus', 'Autonomic', 'ANS', 'HRV', 'acupuncture', 'transcutaneous' and analyzed. Results : 4 studies were included. Acupuncture was used in 1 study and TENS was used in 3 studies. Tinnitus handicap inventory(THI), fMRI and 'heart rate and blood pressure' were used in 1 study each and heart rate variability(HRV) was used in 3 studies as evaluation tools. Each treatment showed a significant effect. Conclusions : Our findings indicate that acupuncture and TENS could be a potential therapy for tinnitus, however additional well designed RCT are required to establish high level of evidence.

Fibrofolliculoma is a benign, perifollicular, connective tissue tumor that usually arises in the form of multiple lesions; it is rarely seen as a solitary lesion. The lesions are clinically asymptomatic, 2 to 4 mm skin-colored, soft dome-shaped papules. Here, we report a patient who visited our hospital with a palpable lesion on the nasal septum. The lesion did not cause pain upon palpation, and nasal endoscopy confirmed an irregular wart-like lesion measuring 6×6 mm in the left anterior nasal septum near the columella. Other otolaryngology findings were normal, and there were no similar lesions in other parts of the body. None of the patient's family members were known to have had such lesions. An excisional biopsy was performed on the mass for removal of the lesion, and histological examination confirmed the lesion as fibrofolliculoma. We report the first case of solitary fibrofolliculoma in the nasal septum in a healthy 62-year-old woman along with a review of the relevant literature.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report a case of lipoma removed by surgical method. Methods : A 69-year-old female was diagnosed with lipoma on the left upper shoulder. Bufonis venenum pharmacopuncture was used for local anesthesia. The 11th blade and the CO₂ laser was used for incision. After removal of lipoma, irrigation with soyeom pharmacopuncture solution and simple interrupted suture were carried out. For 7 days, Yeonkyopaedok-san was given and the suture was removed after 14 days. At last, saengkigo was applied. Results : Local anesthesia was maintained. Lipoma sized 3.0×1.0×1.0cm was clearly removed. Adverse effects were not reported until the clear skin adhesion. Conclusions : Lipoma were surgically removed without any complications by using pharmacopuncture and oral herbal medicines that have anti-inflammatory effects. Korean medicine has the potential for surgery and needs to extend the range of surgical treatment.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the effect of Korean-western combination treatment in two patients with Herpes Zoster. Methods : During hospitalization, two patients were treated with Galgeunkilkyung-tang, acupucture, pharmacopuncture, antiviral agents, painkiller. To evaluate the effect of this treatment, we used Numeric Ration Scale(NRS) and Quality of Sleep(QSP). Results : After treatment, NRS and QSP of 2 patients were improved remarkably. Conclusions : According to the result, these finding suggest that Korean-western combination treatment can be effective for the treatment of herpes zoster.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Korean-Western medicine combination treatment administered to two patients with acute herpes zoster. Methods : During hospitalization, the two patients were treated with Hyeonggaeyeongyotang-gagam, Hwangryunhaedok-tang wet dressing, pharmacopuncture, acupuncture, and other western medications including antiviral and analgesic agents. Photographs of skin lesions, numeric rating scale(NRS), and visual analog scale(VAS) were used to assess the improvement of symptoms. Results : At the time of discharge, both patients showed remarkable improvement in skin lesions, NRS for pain, and VAS for pruritus and insomnia. Conclusions : The results demonstrated that Korean-Western medicine combination treatment may be effective for treating herpes zoster.

Clear cell carcinoma is a rare variant of salivary gland carcinoma, and its occurrence in the tongue base is even rarer. We present a case of a 55-year-old female patient with clear cell carcinoma of the tongue base. The patient initially presented with a 3-month history of palpable tongue mass, leading to her visit to the otolaryngology outpatient clinic. The patient underwent a complete resection of the tumor under general anesthesia. Postoperative follow-up imaging studies showed no evidence of recurrence. This case report highlights the diagnostic and management challenges associated with clear cell carcinoma of tongue base and demonstrates that a high index of suspicion is required to diagnose clear cell caricnoma, given its rarity and overlapping features with other clear cell neoplasms.
