보존적 치료에 잘 반응하지 않은 만성 화농성 중이염 환자에게 한방치료를 시행하여 황색 농성 이루가 소실되고 천공된 고막이 유합됨을 보였으며 치료 종료 2 개월 후의 관찰에서도 호전 상태를 유지함을 확인하였다. 이는 본 질환에 대한 한방치료의 유효성을 보여주는 것으로 생각된다.

Objectives : This study is to report a case of Verruca vulgaris in a paediatric patient, treated with korean medicine, primarily focused on Aroma Therapy by Tea Tree Oil(Melaleuca Alternifolia). Methods : A 12-year-old female patient was treated with herbal medicine, Aroma therapy using Tea tree oil due to periungual and plantar warts. photographs of lesions and VAS were used to evaluted the changes in symptoms. Results : The herbal medicine was performed only for first 7Days due to refusal of the patient. So, the patient was treated by only aroma therapy using tea tree oil for about 9 months. After the treatment, the lesions of the patient showed complete clearence and there was no relapse. Conclusions : This case suggests that Korean medicine, especially aroma therapy using tea tree oil is an effective treatment for Melaleuca Alternifolia.

On occasion there were reports of foreign body of paranasal sinuses. Most common site is the maxillary sinus. But it is very rare to experience a long-term foreign body in maxillary sinus. There are two types of maxillary foreign bodies according to etiology, one is caused by various traumatic accidents, and the other is iatrogenic cause which mainly retaining gauze or medical instruments after sinus operation or teeth extraction. We experienced an interesting case of over fifty yews resided metal foreign body in maxillary sinus caused sinusitis, and report with a brief literature review.

The patient a 24-year-old male, was shown to have milliary shadows on chest radiographs from the age of 20. He was temporarily treated for pulmonary tuberculosis without success. He had left thyroid mass and lymph node metastases in neck CT scan which was taken after admission but fine needle aspiration result in scanty cellularity. He underwent total thyroidectomy with left modified radical neck dissection and right selective neck dissection under the impression of differentiated thyroid cancer with bilateral neck metastases. Then he underwent 131I ablation treatment and postoperative whole body 131I scintigraphy revealed diffuse intensive uptake in the bilateral lung fields, demonstrating that the pulmonary lesions were metastases of the thyroid cancer.

Objective : This study aimed to assessment for concordance rate in pattern analysis between pattern diagnosis of KiFDA on allergic rhinitis in 2008 and doctor of Korean medicine. Methods : Data were obtained from 35 patients with allergic rhinitis(AR). They were asked to perform the questionnaires and had been interviewed by specialist of Korean Medicine. For correlation analysis, we used Cohen's Kappa. Results : The pattern diagnosis was done only 15 patients(42.9%). Correlation between pattern diagnosis of questionnaires and specialist showed 0.2105 in Kappa and 0.1993 in weighed Kappa. Conclusions : The result may provide the basis of modification in Pattern Diagnosis of KiFDA on allergic rhinitis in 2008.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to understand aging and skin aging with both western and Korean medicine. Methods : We investigated the comprehension of general aging and skin aging in both western and Korean medicine through literature review. Result : The results are as follows. 1. Aging in western is a complex process influenced by telomere shortening and damage to cellular DNA. In Korean medicine, it is supposed that decline of interaction between yin(陰) and yang(陽) makes aging. 2. Skin aging in western medicine consists of intrinsic aging and extrinsic aging. In Korean medicine, skin aging goes with the aging of whole body and distinctive features of geroderma notice the unbalance of the whole body function. 3. Generally geroderma has decreased development of cells and low immunity, which is the function of kidney(腎) in Korean medicine. Conclusion : Further studies are needed to apply comprehension of skin aging in Korean medicine to clinical stage.

Objectives : Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada(VKH) syndrome is a multisystem autoimmune disease characterized by its affects on pigmented tissues in the ocular, auditory, integumentary and central nervous system. This case is to report a decreased optical disc swelling in VKH patient treated only with herbal medication. Methods : A 56-year-old male patient with VKH experienced headache and numbness during 7 months of steroid treatment. He visited our clinic and was administered Haeulsoyo-san (解鬱逍遙散) three times a day for a month. No other oriental or western treatments were included. Result & Conclusions : Patient didn't complain any discomfort during the treatment. Significantly decreased optical disc swelling was confirmed by taking fundus photo. This is the first case of KVH to be reported in Korean medicine society.

Objectives : 본 연구를 통해 정신과적, 소화기성으로 유발된 히스테리성 구를 반하백출천마탕과 자음건비탕으로 치료한 1례를 보고하려 한다. Methods : 오심, 불면, 이명, 소화불량, 초조, 두통, 매핵기를 주소로 하는 23세 여성 환자를 대상으로 약 4개월 동안 침구, 반하백출천마탕과 자음건비탕으로 치료하였다. Results & Conclusions : 4개월 동안의 치료 후, 히스테리성 구와 다른 증상들이 소실되었다. 이 논문에서는, 소화기계 장애와 정신 질환 치료를 위해 오랫동안 사용되어온 반하백출천마탕과 자음건비탕을 히스테리성 구 치료에 이용하였다. 결론적으로, 본 연구는 히스테리성 구와 소화기계 장애가 밀접한 관련이 있음과 히스테리성 구에 대한 한의학적 치료의 중요성을 제시하였다.

Aneurysm of extracranial carotid artery which usually originated from trauma, but it can be developed by atheroscrelosis, infection and congenital vascular disease, is defined as abnormal dilatation of intimal wall of carotid artery. The proper management should not be delayed due to occurrence of high neulorogic complication. Recently the authors experienced a case of nontraumatic extracranial internal carotid artery aneurysm, which was successfully resected using intraoperative EEG monitoring for the prevention of ischemic attack and was reconstructed with end to end anastomosis using nylon 9 - 0. On postoperative day #13, we could confirm well healed aneurysmal site and normal blood flow in the view of arteriography.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to analyze the trend of Korean medical treatments on nummular eczema. Methods : Based on OASIS, NDSL, RISS, KTKP, KISS, KCI with the keyword 'Nummular Eczema'. published in 2000-2019.08.31, total 11 studies have been found and analyzed. Results : Among 11 studies, 21 cases were selected. Herb medicine, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, externals, other treatments were used as treatment for nummular eczema. All of research which selected have reported that the Korean medical treatment was effective. Conclusions : According to the results, Korean medical treatments can be effective treatment for nummular eczema. Further clinical studies are expected using evaluation methods to analyze the results and to establish high level of evidence.
