Presented here is a case where 8 canals were located in a mandibular first molar. A patient with continuing pain in mandibular left first molar even after completion of biomechanical preparation was referred by a dentist. Following basic laws of the pulp chamber floor anatomy, 8 canals were located in three steps with 4 canals in each root. In both of the roots, 4 separate canals commenced which joined into two canals and exited as two separate foramina. At 6 mon follow-up visit, the tooth was found to be asymptomatic and revealed normal radiographic periapical area. The case stresses on the fact that understanding the laws of pulp chamber anatomy and complying with them while attempting to locate additional canals can prevent missing canals.
Undifferentiated stem cells are being studied to obtain information on the therapeutic potential of isolates that are produced. Dental Pulp Stem Ccell (DPSC) may provide an abundant supply of highly proliferative, multipotent Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC), which are now known to be capable of regenerating a variety of human tissues including bone and other dental structures. Many factors influence DPSC quality and quantity, including the specific methods used to isolate, collect, concentrate, and store these isolates once they are removed. Ancillary factors, such as the choice of media, the selection of early versus late passage cells, and cryopreservation techniques may also influence the differentiation potential and proliferative capacity of DPSC isolates. This literature review concludes that due to the delicate nature of DPSC, more research is needed for dental researchers and clinicians to more fully explore the feasibility and potential for isolating and culturing DPSCs extracted from adult human teeth in order to provide more accurate and informed advice for this newly developing field of regenerative medicine.
Purposes: This study aims to identify factors affecting dental university hospitals' profitability and understand recent their business condition. Methodology: Data from 2016 to 2019 was collected from financial statement, public open data in 8 dental university hospitals. For the study, multiple regression test with stepwise selection was applied. Findings: First of all, 9 out of 19 independent variables were selected by stepwise selection. As a result of multiple regression test with selected independent variables and the dependent variable(operating profit margin ratio), the factors affecting hospitals' profitability were the number of dental unit chair, hospital location, debt ratio, total capital turnover ratio, employment cost rate, material cost rate, management expense rate, the number of patient per a dentist. Practical Implication: To improve dental university hospitals' profitability, hospitals specifically analysis and manage their cost such as employment, material and management cost and seek effectiveness by managing the proper number of patient per a dentist.
Ectodermal dysplasia is a genetic disorder in which various clinical manifestations involve two or more of the differentiated tissues of the ectoderm. Facial deformity, which is frequently associated with ectodermal dysplasia, appears in the form of cleft lip or cleft palate, especially in the middle facial area.Cleft and tooth defects result in decreased alveolar bone development. This leads to severe skeletal incongruity. Facial features include frontal protrusion, malar bone hypoplasia, flat nose, mandibular prominence and long lower facial height. This clinical report presents treatment including orthognathic surgery of a patient with Hypohidrotic Ectodermal dysplasia with cleft palate.

Vinpocetine induces anti-inflammatory effects in various inflammatory diseases via the inhibition of phosphodiesterase type-1-independent nuclear factor-κB signaling pathway and the release of inflammatory cytokines. In this study, we investigated the effect of vinpocetine on the proliferation of colon cancer cells and its underlying molecular mechanisms. Our data showed that vinpocetine inhibits the viability and proliferation of colon cancer cells. Vinpocetine treatment induced cell death in HCT116 cells, which the percentages of sub-G1 phase were significantly increased, and the apoptosis-related genes were regulated after HCT116 cells were treated with vinpocetine. In sum, our findings indicated that vinpocetine could be a therapeutically useful candidate in the treatment of colon cancer.
Orthognathic surgery has steadily evolved, gradually expanding its scope of application beyond its original purpose of simply correcting malocclusion and the facial profile. For instance, it is now used to treat obstructive sleep apnea and to achieve purely cosmetic outcomes. Recent developments in three-dimensional digital technology are being utilized throughout the entire process of orthognathic surgery, from establishing a surgical plan to printing the surgical splint. These processes have made it possible to perform more sophisticated surgery. The goal of this review article is to introduce current trends in the field of orthognathic surgery and controversies that are under active discussion. The role of a plastic surgeon is not limited to performing orthognathic surgery itself, but also encompasses deep involvement throughout the entire process, including the set-up of surgical occlusion and overall surgical planning. The authors summarize various aspects in the field of orthognathic surgery with the hope of providing helpful information both for plastic surgeons and orthodontists who are interested in orthognathic surgery.
This case report describes the treatment of an adult female patient with a history of periodontal disease, Class I malocclusion with extrusion, dental spaces, and pathologic tooth migration. The patient was treated with clear aligners, which effectively controlled the strength and direction of orthodontic forces after 3 months of systematic periodontal treatment. The Peer Assessment Rating (PAR) index was calculated from study models before and after treatment. The pretreatment PAR score was 24, and the posttreatment PAR score was 4. The PAR score for this patient changed by 83%. Satisfactory appearance and good function were achieved for this patient.

Germectomy is a surgical method most typically performed in young adults. The indications for treatment are controversial. The purpose of this review was to determine the correct indications for germectomy and to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the procedure. We reviewed the surgical techniques (anesthetic methods, patient preparation, and flap designs) and complications. Germectomy for orthodontic purposes is a common indication for surgical removal of tooth germ among young patients. Several studies have supported removal at an earlier age to produce fewer surgical complications. Several surgical techniques have been described in the literature.

The purpose of this study was to compare the force, the displacement and the stress distribution on the maxillary first molars altered by the application of various asymmetric head-gear. For this study, the finite element models of unilateral Cl II maxillary dental arch was made. Also, the finite element models of asymmetric face-bow was made. Three types of asymmetric face-bow were made : each of the right side 15mm, 25mm and 35mm shorter than the left side. We compared the forces, the displacement and the distribution of stress that were generated by application of various asymmetric head-gear, The results were as follows. 1. The total forces that both maxillary first molars received were similar in all groups. But the forces that mesially positioned tooth received were increased as the length of the outer-bow shortened, and the forces that normally positioned tooth received were decreased as the length of the outer-bow shortened. 2. In lateral force comparison, the buccal forces that normally positioned tooth received were increased as the length of the outer-bow shortened, and the buccal fortes that mesially positioned tooth received were decreased as the length of the outer-bow shortened. Though the net lateral force moved to the buccal side of normally positioned tooth as the length of the outer-bow shortened, both maxillary first molars received the buccal force. That showed 'Avchiai Expansion Effect' 3. The distal forces, the extrusion forces and the magnitudes of the crown distal tipping that mesially positioned tooth received were increased as the length of the outer-bow shortened, and the forces that normally positioned tooth received were decreased as the length of the outer-bow was shortened. 4. The magnitude of the distal-in rotation that normally positioned tooth received were increased as the length of the outer-bow was shortened. But, mesially positioned tooth show two different results. For the outer-bow 15mm shortened, mesially positioned tooth showed the distal-in rotation, hut for the outer-bow 25mm and 35mn shortened, mesially positioned tooth showed the distal-out rotation. Thus, the turning point exists between 15mm and 25mm. 5. This study of the initial stress distribution of the periodontal ligament at slightly inferior of the furcation area revealed that the compressive stress in the distobuccal root of the normally positioned tooth moved from the palatal side to the distal side and the buccal side successively as the length of the outer-bow shortened. 6. This study of the initial stress distribution of the periodontal ligament at slightly inferior of the furcation area revealed that the magnitudes of stress were altered but the total stress distributions were not altered in the mesiobuccal root and the palatal root of normally positioned tooth, and also three roots of mesially positioned tooth as the length of the outer-bow shortened.
The primary objective of this study was to make the prediction percentile tabulation of the sum of mesiodistal widths of the unerupted permanent canines and premolars derived from the sum of mesiodistal widths of the erupted permanent incisors in normal and crowding groups. Crowding group consisted of 85 pairs of dental casts (42 males and 43 females) with more than 4mm of crowding in anteriors. Normal group consisted of 109 pairs of dental casts (65 males and 44 females) with less than 1mm of spacing or crowding in anteriors. The mesiodistal crown diameters of permanent teeth were measured from the dental casts using the sliding calipers (Mitutoyo Co., Japan). From the study, the obtained results were as follows: There were not significant differences between male and female in both groups on the basis of the ratios between the sum of mesiodistal widths of incisors and the sum of mesiodistal widths of canines and premolars. There was not significant difference between two groups on the basis of the ratio between the sum of mesiodistal widths of mandibular incisors and the sum of mesiodistal widths of mandibular canines and premolars and was significant differences between two groups on the basis of the ratio between the sum of mesiodistal widths of mandibular incisors and the sum of mesiodistal widths of maxillary canines and premolars. There was significant difference between two groups on the basis of the ratio between the sum of mesiodistal widths of maxillary incisors and the sum of mesiodistal widths of mandibular canines and premolars. There was significant difference between two groups on the basis of the ratio between the sum of mesiodistal widths of maxillary incisors and the sum of mesiodistal widths of maxillary canines and premolars. The percentile prediction tabulations were made in an attempt to predict the sum of mesiodistal widths of the unerupted permanent canines and premolars derived from the sum of mesiodistal widths of the erupted permanent mandibular incisors in each group.
