유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 2단 릴리프 밸브의 최적설계 (An Optimal Design of a two stage relief valve by Genetic Algorithm)

  • In this study, a novel systematic design procedure by Genetic Algorithm of a two stage relief valve is proposed. First of all. a mathematical model describing the dynamics of a balanced piston type relief valve has been derived. Governing equations such as dynamic equations for the main spool and the pilot spool and flow equations for each orifice are established. The mathematical model is verified by comparing the results of simulation with that of experiments. Furthermore, influences of the parameters on the dynamic characteristics of a relief valve have been investigated by simulation of the proposed model. Major design parameters on the valve response are determined, which affect the system response significantly. And then, using the determined parameters, the optimization of the two stage relief valve by Genetic Algorithm, which is a random search algorithm can find the global optimum without converging local optimum, is performed. The optimal design process of a two stage relief valve is presented to determine the major design parameters. Fitness function reflects the changing pressure according to parameters. It is shown that the genetic algorithms satisfactorily optimized the major design parameters of the two stage relief valve.

  • To improve the hydraulic control performance of ABS, it is necessary to establish an efficient control algorithm. And also it is necessary to ova]Hate a hydraulic modulator with solenoid valve quantitatively. In this paper, FEM and permeance method are used to analyze dynamic characteristics of outlet valve. In return, mathmatical modeling of a hydraulic modulator and operating pressure is presented, and the model parameters of an outlet valve are moving plunger, spring constant and orifice diameter. This study shows the way to improve the dynamic characteristic of an ABS outlet valve heavily depending on operating pressure. It is recommended that operating pressure should be justified at the first step toward the design to get the optimal design of an outlet valve.

  • In the process of accurate manufacture and measurement, it is necessarily required to isolate external or internal vibration due to external disturbance and internal actuators. The higher vibration isolation system gets damping around resonance, the better it is generally. This paper analyzes the performance of an existing passive air-spring for vibration isolation table by rising experiment and simulation. Optimal design for a passive air spring can be obtained by fluting the size of the orifice. Also design for an active isolation system is carried out by applying PID controller and considering non-linearity of pneumatic characteristics with help of look-up table. We have developed the act ive vibration isolation table wi th the bet ter isolation performance.

  • Desuperheater is a passive device to control the temperature of steam in various plants. However, in spite of its simple structure, the accurate prediction of a desuperheater is very difficult because there are many designed factors for the design of a desuperheater. In this study, the theory of heat transfer phenomena in a desuperheater was developed and the various design factors are evaluated. As a results, we confirmed that the droplet size of 30 - 200 is best effective for the performance of a desuperheater.

  • This paper investigates the characteristics of stiffness and load in the thrust bearing of spindle which could be changeable according to the groove shape of inlet, in order to design a high-stiffness air bearing by selecting a optimal groove shape. In experiments, dead weight and displacement sensor are used to measure the load carrying capacity and the stiffness respectively. Various shapes and different depth of groove of self-restrictor are used as experimental conditions. Comparative study between the theoretical value and the practical one by measuring the value of stiffness and load of the thrust bearing is performed.

유압 완층기 내에서의 오일 유동에 대한 CFD 해석 (A CFD Analysis of the Oil Flow in a Hydraulic Shock Absorber)

  • Various types of hydraulic shock absorbers are widely used in many fields because of its numerous advantages. However, in order to design adequate damping characteristics, accurate flow data near the orifices are required essentially. In this paper, a commercial computational fluid dynamics(CFD) code, FLUENT is adopted to investigate the flow characteristics near orifices of a shock absorber. Static pressure and velocity vector distributions, fluid path lines are presented for compression/tension strokes and various piston speeds. In order to validate the result of analysis, the numerically obtained damping forces are compared with those of analytical estimations obtained by modified Bernoulli equation. The results reported herein will provide better understanding of the detailed flow fields within shock absorber, and the CFD analysis method proposed in this paper can be used in the design of other types of hydraulic shock absorber.

에어리스 스프레이 도장용 노즐 팁 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Design of Nozzle Tip for Airless Spray Coating)

  • This study was carried out to design the spray nozzle tip for airless spray coating. Airless spray coating is the process of coating an object with a liquid spray of paint or other fluid. The nozzle tip controls the fluid flow rate and creates back pressure in the system. The nozzle tip also defines the spray pattern by the size and shape of the orifice. The spray pattern of nozzle tip was investigated numerically using ANSYS CFX ver. 14.0. It was observed that performance result of designed nozzle tip was correspond well, compared with that of GARCO nozzle tip.

  • A computer program was developed for the prediction of transient flow in a water supply system. where an air chamber is installed to reduce the water hammering. The governing equations based on a characteristic method are solved using a finite difference method. A design process of an air chamber is shown in the present paper considering the effects of the initial air volume and the discharge coefficients of the orifice on the total volume and over-all performance of the chamber.

  • Vibration isolation tables are mostly required in precise measurement and manufacturing system. Among the vibration isolation tables, an air spring is the most favorable equipment because of low resonant frequency and high damping ratio. However, it is difficult to design the air spring with the required stiffness and damping ratio. Futhermore, whenever conventional active control methods are applied to the air spring, it may be difficult to obtain effective control performance due to high nonlinearity of air spring. In this paper, the optimal design of the air spring is performed using genetic algorithm to bring out low resonant frequency and high damping ratio. Also, active control of the vibration isolation table with 3-DOF model is proposed using the adaptive control method. Through experiments, optimal design is shown to be effective. And performance of the proposed control method is verified to be better than those of the passive control method and the conventional active control methods.

연료전지 전극(Cathode)의 성능해석 및 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Performance Analysis and Design of Cathode in Fuel Cells)

  • The cathode design is one of the most important parts in order to enhance the performance of fuel cells. A 3-D model of the porous oxygen reducing cathode with perforated current collectors is analysed for the enhanced design in fuel cells. Simulation is performed using equations of electric potential balance, momentum balance, and mass balance. The gas concentrations are quite large and are significantly affected by the reactions that take place. The weight fraction of oxygen, velocity field for the gas phase, and local overvoltage are illustrated in the porous reactive cathode layer. The current density is also analysed and the result shows the distribution and variation are stated in a wide range. It is found that the rate of reaction and the current production is higher beneath the orifice, and decreases as the distance to the gas inlet increases. The significance of the results is discussed in the viewpoint of the mass transportation phenomena, which is inferred that the mass transport of reactants dictates the efficiency of the electrode in this design and at these conditions.
