  • The company cannot optimize its computing environment just with individual solutions such as ERP(enterprise resource planning), SCM(supply chain management), CRM(customer relationship management), and KM(knowledge management). EAI(enterprise application integration) has emerged as an alternative that can optimize computing environment of the company through integrating such solutions and systems of distributed computing and mainframe environment. This paper reports the case study of Deakyo Co. in successfully implementing EAI. It describes project goal, project organization, project plan, the implemented EAI configuration and its features, the EAI effectiveness to the firm, and the critical success factors of the EAI project. This case study is thought to be useful as a practical guideline in carrying out EAI project of the company and to provide significant basis for constructing the theoretical framework of EAI project methodology.

  • In recent years, a scholars and a managers in business have taken a more interest on the effects of corporate culture on the organization effectiveness. The corporate culture has been recognized as one of the way to promote the organization performance and cope with the changes of the business environment. Edgar H. Shein defins the corporate culture as the that the pattern of basic assumptions that a given group has invented, discovered or developed in learning to cope with its problems of external adaptation and internal integration. The organization effectiveness is differently defined as the job satisfaction, job involvement, organizational commitment, organizational performance etc. The business culture help the employee (1) understand the values, the tradition, and the different management systems(decision-making basis, promotion, reward, behavior etc.) of the company, (2) make the performance-oriented decison and doings. Consequently, the excellent corporate culture would improve the organizational effectiveness. The purpose of this study is (1) to examine theoretically the content on the corporate culture and the organizational effectiveness, (2) to suggest the direction of the corporate culture management for both the management md the scholars.

The Impact of Information Systems Integration on Organization

  • A Causal Transition Model of the IT impact on organization is proposed. The model is based upon the premise that the IT impact is a multi-phase, multi-realm phenomenon, and that the IT impact in one organizational realm logically transpires to another realm, thus forming complex causal webs among them. Two exploratory research studies, the one qualitative and the other quantitative, were conductea to validate the model in a setting involving major structural reorganization of the organizations' IT function. The research results provide support for the general theory structure of the model. The findings include: ⅰ) the IT impact manifests on multiple organizational realms, with different degrees of strength, ⅱ) the impact on the realms follow a particular causal transition path among them, and ⅲ) the IT impact manifests on and through the information processing aspect of work. The results, however, indicate that people's perception of the IT impact is strongly mitigated by the IT relevance of work, and that the organization is affected as much by the structural arrangement surrounding and accompanying the IT as by the technology itself, suggesting that the IT impact is an organizational phenomenon as well as a technological phenomenon. The implications of the research results are discussed at the end.

  • 3PL is the alternative for the corporation seeking to increase its logistics efficiency and effective implement of organization development. This study is to establish effective management method of the logistics companies and suggest further research direction by looking through theoretical background, applications, organization knowledge, international and domestic condition and problems of the 3PL which concludes to policy making. This study suggests corporation’s policy on technology oriented, management participation and knowledge on organization is used to secure competitive edge on logistics service. Close cooperation between departments is needed to acquire technology oriented information from 3PL human resource pool.

  • Organizational decision support systems(ODSS) are a new type of decision support systems(DSS) focusing on the organization-wide issues rather than individual, group, or departmental issues. Because of its organization-wideness, which means an ODSS cuts across organizational functions or hierarchical layers, seamless integration with organization's diverse IS applications running on heterogeneous platforms becomes a critical issue. In this paper, we analyzed the Korea Telecom(KT)'s Operations & Maintenance(O&M) division focusing on its investment strategies. We developed a conceptual framework which links O&M investment to its performance. We also developed a prototype of KTOM-ODSS with an EIS-like user-friendly interface.

  • According as the requirement of custom for the enterprise or government organization gets to be various, the enterprise or government organization has been quickly changing to cope with the situation. Recently, by considering a domestic situation which is intending the e-government, the service for the people to apply the information technology of a local autonomous entity is very much need.   • The concept of lean production originated and was applied mainly to manufacture industries Even proven successful with such companies as Toyota, lean production has to be combined railway transportation production in order to bring its function into full play. The paper analyzes for applicability of lean production in railway transportation production organization, puts forward implementation methods such as transportation resource integration, station-zone organization, dispatch command optimization, railway performance evaluation index system, etc., and makes an exemplification study of lean production of Urumqi Railway Bureau in China, which testifies the applicability and efficiency of railway lean production.

  • This study is about the criminal information system of police cooperation organization between European nations. The criminal information system of police cooperation organization between European nations is the organization created by the sign of the Europol convention in 26 July 1995 and the effectuation in 1 October 1998 for European nations' cooperative confrontation with frequent international terror, international organization crime, drug trafficking, illegal immigrant smuggling, and other critical crimes. From the beginning, this organization established the criminal information system for overcoming the working limits of previous international police organization. This system consists of information system, work file, and index system and enables every national unit or other law enforcement agents to collect, exchange, and utilize the information. Additionally, it try to keep in step with the rapidly change time, such as the integration with CMS, the establishment of correspondence system against cyber crime, and the introduction of biometric database. The criminal information system of the Europol gives important suggestions to the police cooperation organization between nations, besides prevention and suppression against the international crimes in Europe.

The Impact of Tie Strength on the Knowledge Acquisition, Knowledge Integration and Innovation Performance: Focusing on Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in the Industrial Clustering (기업 간 유대강도가 지식획득과 지식통합 및 혁신성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구: 산업단지 내 중소기업을 중심으로)

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of tie strength in the network of industrial clustering on the knowledge acquisition, integration and innovation performance of small and medium sized enterprises. We test the positive relationship of weak tie and knowledge acquisition, strong tie and knowledge integration, and the interaction effect of two tie strengths on both processes of knowledge acquisition and integration. By identifying these relationships, we can better understand how to manage the attributes of social networks in terms of tie strength in order to improve the performance of innovation for the small and medium sized enterprises. Design/methodology/approach We collect 200 survey data from 2 industrial cluster respectively: Pankyo and Guroo. In Pankyo, the proportion of IT industry is the highest (35%) while the proportion of manufacturing is highest (35%) in Guroo. Pooling the data from two industrial cluster, we check the reliability and validity of our research model and test the hypotheses. Findings First, we find the positive relationship of weak tie and knowledge acquisition from both industrial clustering. Weak tie is composed of heterogeneous organizations with various background and expertise. The communication and information sharing of organizations in the weak tie network helps the idea generation for organization's innovation, which is the knowledge acquisition process. Second, the relationship of strong tie and knowledge integration is insignificant. Typically the strong tie from long-lasting partnership is expected to be beneficial in the action stage of innovation, which is the knowledge integration process. However it is not identified in our industry cluster. Finally, the interaction effect of weak and strong tie is identified to be effective on both knowledge acquisition and integration processes.
