  • There is a growing interest in researching new leadership and efficient organizational management due to the changes and spread of Information Communications Technologies (ICT) related organizations. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the effect of leadership on organization in ICT R & D, and to follow the relationship between coaching leadership, leader member exchange (LMX), emotional intelligence of leaders, and organizational effectiveness. In order to verify this research problem, a total of 310 people were surveyed from employees working in the ICT R & D field. Reliability analysis of the measuring tool was tested on 80 pilot surveys in advance, and the final 285 data were used for empirical analysis excluding 25 unsatisfactory responses. For analysis, SPSS 22.0 program and AMOS were used to analyze the reliability, validity, path analysis, and control effects of the measurement tools. The findings demonstrate empirically the positive relationship between LMX and organizational effectiveness on coaching leadership in ICT R & D. In addition, by empirically verifying the effect that the emotional intelligence of the leader regulates the relationship between LMX, organizational effectiveness, and coaching leadership, then emotional intelligence of the leader can be usefully applied in ICT R & D. Furthermore, the demand for more in-depth research on coaching leadership, LMX, and emotional intelligence of leaders, which positively affects organizational effectiveness, was identified as demand for ICT R & D is increasing and horizontal and interactive leadership is needed.

  • This study examined the impact of learning organization activities on burnout and the moderating effect of supervisor trust in a learning organization. The results of the study shows that among the activities of a learning organization, independent variables in this study, promoting inquiry and dialogue as well as encouraging collaboration and team learning affect burnout. In other words, the dedication of an organization to creating a culture in which various learning approaches are experimented through questioning and giving feedback as well as collaborative learning that can reinforce the effective use of team resources have an impact on reducing emotional exhaustion, which is considered to be at the core of burnout. Plus, these factors reduce impersonalization, which is activated to prevent further emotional exhaustion by dealing with customers, colleagues and jobs in a cold, negative and perfunctory way. In this study, the dimensions of promoting inquiry and dialogue as well as encouraging collaboration and team learning were found to reduce the decline in personal sense of achievement of an employee with a negative assessment of himself or herself derived from a lack of achievement in his or her job. Supervisor trust (integrity, benevolence and ability) had a moderating effect on the relationship between strategic learning leadership and impersonalization/emotional exhaustion. This suggests that the trust of supervisor helps mediate and moderate the emotional exhaustion and impersonalization of organizational members by encouraging leaders to drive change and take the organization to a new direction. The study has provided implications that communication plays an important role in reducing burnout in the learning context such as positive, appreciative inquiry and feedback analysis to identify strength, and that supervisor trust is critical in order to ensure strategic learning leadership exerts greater influence on the organization.

  • Today's firm runs on a customer-centric environment. Customers prefer to deal with companies that are accessible at anytime, from anywhere, in any form. Thix trend requires an ever-increasing number of channels to interact with the firm. And these channels ought to be integrated as well. To meet these challenges firms tend to rely on a customer interaction center (CIC) solution, enabling two-way interactions with customers through seamless contact channels. Though many firms these days tend to introduce the CIC into their organization, there is not much empirical research dealing with design elements that have to be fabricated in the CIC. This study is to investigate the relationship between CIC design elements and CIC effectiveness. To meet this objective we have contacted and surveyed a number of firms that are operating some form of CIC. We also describe a few success and failure cases in an effort to deliver issues or insights that should be considered in introducing CIC.

  • Organizations are increasingly adopting Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) to effectively manage knowledge within the organization and realize firm and operational level benefits. However, many KMS implementations fail to yield desired outcomes due to the lack of understanding of the antecedent of successful knowledge management. Prior studies have established that organizational cultural values are one of the key enablers of knowledge management. We develop a computational model of organizational knowledge processes and employ simulations to examine the impact of KMS in different organizational cultural settings. We find that cultural values that govern the employees' predisposition towards seeking knowledge from others have a greater influence on KMS effectiveness than those that govern the employees' attitudes towards sharing their knowledge with others. We also find that organizations with cultures that foster high levels knowledge sharing behaviors can expect performance gains if KMS implementations incorporate knowledge seeking activities into the employees' work processes.

  • This paper proposes a model to assess the maturity level of Six Sigma activities. We classify the maturity level into 5 stages: initial, forming, storming, performing and mature stage. To evaluate the maturity level, 10 categories of Six Sigma with 3 factors each are identified: management leadership, belt system, expert training, establishing execution system, compensation, organization, corporate culture, customer focus, project selection, and management of project results. Scoring 277 items in total, the value of each factor is evaluated by weighted average of those items. Maturity level is appraised by rating the sum of scores of 10 categories that are obtained by summing up the values of its 3 factors. Values of weights and criteria of rating maturity levels are determined by analyzing 90 companies and Six Sigma exper's opinion. This study also shows the actual appraisal results of some companies.

Many have questioned, however, in the result and the effectiveness in KMS. The purpose of this study is to explore ways to improve the current KMS by analyzing and identifying the causes that affect effectiveness of KMS. Blog which is an effective tool for communication could be used for KMS in order to make KMS more user friendly and more effective. This research is intended to conduct an empirical study on the differences between Blog-based KMS and Non-Blog-based KMS and suggest resolutions to potential issues of KMS. Blog-based KMS users show higher degree of satisfaction and usage toward their system. The result of this study suggests that the differences between two groups are primarily on system quality and knowledge quality, and many of these differences come from functions and characteristics of Blog.
