Even though K-series combat equipment's engine depot maintenance cycle of ROK army is 10years In average, that of the K-9 Self Propelled(SP) howitzer which has been fielded since 99 $3{\sim}4$years causing limitations to effective equipment operations and combat-readiness. Therefore, the current K-9 self-propelled howitzer engine operation period of 1,500 hours, which is greatly shorter than other equipments, had to be verified. In order to find the optimum depot maintenance cycle, related field operation conditions were verified and opinions were collected, and also the background on current depot maintenance cycle setting was studied.
Computer simulations were performed for Heating Ventilating and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems to figure out more efficient maintenance methods for the building used for adolescent trainees. This study aims at suggesting design alternatives for optimum operation and performing life cycle cost (LCC) for each alternative. First, the capacity of the heat source equipment was determined using annual maximum heating and cooling loads. Annual loads were calculated and applied to the alternative for the purpose of calculating annual energy cost. Second, several types of data were collected to predict energy cost. Finally, the pay back period for each alternative was calculated using total cost estimation during standard duration period. This study indicates that the absorption chiller that does not occupy most part of a mechanical room, and does not need much operation cost was most economical.
In an automatic combination weigher, the line feeders distribute the product to several weighing hoppers. The ability to supply appropriate amount of product to the weighing hoppers for each combination operation is crucial for the overall performance. Determining the right duration of operating a line feeder to supply a given amount of product becomes very challenging in case of products which are irregular in volume or specific gravity such as granular secondary processed foods. In this research, several schemes were investigated to determine the best way for a line feeder to approximate the next operating time in order to supply a set amount of irregular goods to the corresponding weighing hopper. Results obtained show that a weighted least squares method (WLS) employing 10 data points is the most effective in determining the operating times of line feeders.

A chromate-resistant white rot fungus, Inonotus cuticularis, abundant in oak trees, was isolated for chromate removal and detoxification of chromate. Inonotus cuticularis was also investigated for an optimal waste treatment system. The screened cells were able to reduce an initial chromate concentration of as high as 1,300 ppm. Cell growth kinetics showed that the optimum culture conditions in flasks were at $33^{\circ}C$ and pH 4.2. Furthermore, the cells were able to remove $54\%$ of the initial chromate by a two-stage operation based on the combination of a fermentor and airlift reactor.
This paper is proposed an efficiency optimization operation algorithm for synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) using current phase angle control technique. The SynRM has to controlled with the optimal current phase angles with load and operation speed variation, to obtain high efficiency over the wide speed ranges. An efficiency optimization condition in SynRM which minimizes the copper and iron losses is derived based on the equivalent circuit model of the machine. The objective of the efficiency optimization control algorithm compensating the optimum current angle, is to seek a combination of d and q-axis current components which provides minimum losses at a certain operating point in steady state. The usefulness of the proposed efficiency optimization control is verified through vector-controlled inverter system with the SynRM.

In this study, the design and operating strategy of DC home grid with PV, battery, and ultracapacitor have been discussed, The proposed sizing method can find the optimum size of the battery and PV which can reduce yearly utility energy consumption, whereas the control scheme can maintain the DC-bus voltage level of the DC home grid under different operating conditions, where day or night time operation, load and PV power levels, and the maximum current and state-of-charge of batter are considered. In addition, a supervisory power management strategy has been suggested, and its validity has been verified by HILS (hardware in-the-loop simulation) results.
An integrated optical 2$\times$2 add/drop multiplexer in X-cut, Y-propagating LiNbO$_3$ has been demonstrated. The device consists of passive polarization splitters and acousto-optical mode converters with weighted coupling utilizing tapered acoustical directional couplers; their specific design and properties are discussed. The insertion loss has been measured to be about -8.16 ㏈ and -8.6 ㏈ for TE and TM polarizations, respectively. The device shows a 3 ㏈ bandwidth of 2.3 nm, a tuning rate 8.34 nm/MHz around λ = 1554 nm, and a sidelobe suppression of about 14.5 ㏈. Optimum operation is achieved with a RF drive power of about 43 ㎽. Multi-wavelength operation has been demonstrated.
In this paper, the configuration of a reflectIve bistable tWIsted nematic (BTN) liquid crystal cell is optmnzed for high contrast and high brightness operation. We searched for the optimum opncal parameters of a reflective BTN cell by calculating its optical performances at 3 wavelengths; red, green, and blue. By studying the effect of each optical parameter on the optical performances, we found that the angle of !he polmlzer IS more important than any other opnea! parmlleters iu the deSIgn of a reflective BTN cell. We fablicated a reflective BTN cell with a wide-band retardation Him, whose measmed contrast ratio is 10.6: 1. .6: 1.
ER clutch is a device using ER fluid, so called "intelligent material" and is a power transmission system controlled with electric field strength. This device responses very rapidly when controlled by rapid and continuous electrical signal and can form a servosystem. Wear, noise and vibration during operation is very low level. This study was undertaken to investigate substitutive possibilities of this ER clutch for existing power transmission mechanism. An analytic relationships using rheological model (so called, 'Bingham plastic model') of ER fluid were developed, and operation constraints and optimum design concepts were constructed. With this relationships, typical responses of ER clutch and effects of changing geometric, kinetic parameters of ER clutch and ER fluid properties were described. In conclusion, compared with existing mechanisms, an excellent performance of ER clutch was confirmed.confirmed.
In this paper, we have designed a solar photovoltaic system to attach solar photovoltaic modules to each module and develop the best efficiency in each module. The efficiency of the designed solar panel optimizer was more than 99.27% and MPPT efficiency of 99.66%. In addition, the monitoring of power generation and abnormal operation phenomenon in each optimum period and tracking for failure location of specific photovoltaic module have improved the utilization rate of photovoltaic power generation. Wired and wireless communication methods has been proposed to monitor the power generation and operation status of the solar panel optimizer. For this purpose, the RS485 communication was used for wire communication and Zigbee communication was used for wireless communication to monitor the status of each module in real time. It is shown that communication redundancy can be achieved through the proposed method, and the possibility of commercialization is suggested.
