  • In this paper, a new asymmetric public key cryptography based on the modified RSA algorithm is proposed by using logic-based optical processing. The proposed asymmetric public key algorithm is realized into an optical schematic, where AND, OR and XOR logic operations are implemented by using free space digital optics architecture. Schematically, the proposed optical configuration has an advantage of generating the public keys simultaneously. Another advantage is that the suggested optical setup can also be used for message encryption and decryption by simply replacing data inputs of SLMs in the optical configuration. The last merit is that the optical configuration has a 2-D array data format which can increase the key length easily. This can provide longer 2-D key length resulting in a higher security cryptosystem than the conventional 1-D key length cryptosystem. Results of numerical simulation and differential cryptanalysis are presented to verify that the proposed method shows the effectiveness in the optical asymmetric cryptographic system.

  • Elastic Optical Networks (EONs) allow to solve the high demand for bandwidth due to the increase in the number of internet users and the explosion of multicast applications. To support multicast applications, network operator computes a tree-shaped path, which is a set of optical channels. Generally, the demand for bandwidth on an optical channel is enormous so that, if there is a single fiber failure, it could cause a serious interruption in data transmission and a huge loss of data. To avoid serious interruption in data transmission, the tree-shaped path of a multicast connection may be protected. Several works have been proposed methods to do this. But these works may cause the duplication of some resources after recovery due to a link failure. Therefore, this duplication can lead to inefficient use of network resources. Our work consists to propose a method of protection that eliminates the link that causes duplication so that, the final backup path structure after link failure is a tree. Evaluations and analyses have shown that our method uses less backup resources than methods for protection of a multicast connection.

  • In this paper, a novel analog signature scheme is proposed by modifying an RSA-based digital signature scheme with optical phase-shifting digital holography. The purpose of the proposed method is generating an analog signature to provide data confidentiality and security during the data transfer, compared to the digital signature. The holographic encryption technique applied to a hash value reveals an analog-type of pseudo-random pattern in the analog signature scheme. The public key and secret key needed to verify the analog signature are computed from public key ciphers which are generated by the same holographic encryption. The proposed analog signature scheme contains a kind of double encryption in the process of generating signature and key, which enhances security level more than the digital signature. The results of performance simulations show the feasibility of the highly secure signature scheme, and security analysis shows high robustness against known-message attacks and chosen-message attacks. In addition, the proposed method can apply to one-time signature schemes which can be used to sign only one message and it can also apply to authentication, e-mails, electronic banking and electronic data interchange.

  • A camouflaged encryption scheme based on Hadamard matrix and ghost imaging is proposed. In the process of the encryption, an orthogonal matrix is used as the projection pattern of ghost imaging to improve the definition of the reconstructed images. The ciphertext of the secret image is constrained to the camouflaged image. The key of the camouflaged image is obtained by the method of sparse decomposition by principal component orthogonal basis and the constrained ciphertext. The information of the secret image is hidden into the information of the camouflaged image which can improve the security of the system. In the decryption process, the authorized user needs to extract the key of the secret image according to the obtained random sequences. The real encrypted information can be obtained. Otherwise, the obtained image is the camouflaged image. In order to verify the feasibility, security and robustness of the encryption system, binary images and gray-scale images are selected for simulation and experiment. The results show that the proposed encryption system simplifies the calculation process, and also improves the definition of the reconstructed images and the security of the encryption system.

  • Photopolymer films containing fluorescent anthracene polymer, polymethyleneanthracene (PMAn), were prepared with different concentrations of PMAn for holographic recording useful for security documents. The fluorescent photopolymer film showed enhanced fluorescent intensity due to the micro-separation which arose from grating formation and diffusion during photopolymerization. Experimental values of diffraction efficiency were well matched to the simulated values for photopolymers having different PMAn concentrations. Holography patterning was carried out using the fluorescent photopolymer under a photo-mask. A grating was confirmed using microscope techniques in the recorded area under the pattern. Importantly the recorded area showed enhanced fluorescence compared to the unrecorded part, allowing fluorescence patterns at micro scale along with the submicron grating pattern. The fluorescence pattern recorded on the photopolymer film provides additional readability of holographic reading and thus is useful for secure recording and reading of information.

  • In this paper, we propose a new optical security technique using two phase masks based on interferometer. A binary random phase image is used as a reference image and the encrypted image is generated according to the phase difference between the reference image and the original image. If there is no phase difference of a same pixel position in two phase masks, interference intensity of the pixel has minimum value and if phase difference of a same pixel position in two phase masks is $\pi$, its interference intensity has maximum value. We can decrypt the original image by putting two phase masks on each of the two optical paths of the Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Computer simulation and the optical experiments show a good performance of the proposed optical security system.

  • In this paper, we propose an accumulation encoding scheme based on double random phase encryption (DRPE) for multiple-image transmission. The proposed scheme can be used for a low-complexity DRPE system due to the simple structure of the accumulation encoder and decoder. For accumulation encoding of multiple images, all of the previously encrypted data are added, and hence the accumulation encoding can improve the security of the DRPE-encrypted data. We present a scheme for encryption and decryption for DRPE-based accumulation encoding, and a method for accumulation encoding and decoding. Finally, simulation results verify that the DRPE-based accumulation encoding scheme for multiple images is powerful in terms of data security.

  • In this paper, we propose the new optical security technique using two phase holograms based on interferometer. The encoded random phase image does not have any information on the original image. Without Hewing the key mask, one cannot decode the encrypted image and regenerate the original image. And the use of two phase only images in the proposed security system leads to maximum optical efficiency (100% in theory). Also they cannot be detected by an intensity detector such as a CCD camera. Computer simulations and optical experiments show performance of the proposed methods.

  • A new image encoding and identification scheme is proposed for security verification by us-ing a CGH(computer generated hologram), random phase mask, and a correlation technique. The encrypted image, which is attached to the security product, is made by multiplying a QP- CGH(quadratic phase CGI) with a random phase function. The random phase function plays a key role when the encrypted image is decrypted. The encrypted image can be optically recovered by a 2-f imaging system and automatically verified for personal identification by a 4-f correlation system. Simulation results show the proposed method can be used for both the reconstruction of an original image and the recognition of an encrypted image.
