The sparse linear discriminant analysis can be incorporated into the penalized linear regression framework, but most studies have been limited to specific convex penalties, including the least absolute selection and shrinkage operator and its variants. Within this framework, concave penalties can serve as natural counterparts of the convex penalties. Implementing the concave penalized direction vector of discrimination appears to be straightforward, but developing its theoretical properties remains challenging. In this paper, we explore a class of concave penalties that covers the smoothly clipped absolute deviation and minimax concave penalties as examples. We prove that employing concave penalties guarantees an oracle property uniformly within this penalty class, even for high-dimensional samples. Here, the oracle property implies that an ideal direction vector of discrimination can be exactly recovered through concave penalized least squares estimation. Numerical studies confirm that the theoretical results hold with finite samples.
In order to obtain desired arc welding performance, we already developed an arc welding robot system that enabled coordinated motions of dual arm robots. In this system one robot arm holds a welding target as a positioning device, and the other robot moves the welding torch. Concerning to such a dual arm robot system, the positioning accuracy of robots is one important problem, since nowadays conventional industrial robots unfortunately don't have enough absolute accuracy in position. In order to cope with this problem, our robot system employed teaching playback method, where absolute error are compensated by the operator's visual feedback. Due to this system, an ideal arc welding considering the posture of the welding target and the directions of the gravity has become possible. Another problem still remains, while we developed an original teaching method of the dual arm robots with coordinated motions. The problem is that manual teaching tasks are still tedious since they need fine movements with intensive attentions. Therefore, we developed a 3-dimensional vision guided robot control method for our welding robot system with coordinated motions. In this paper we show our 3-dimensional vision sensor to guide our arc welding robot system with coordinated motions. A sensing device is compactly designed and is mounted on the tip of the arc welding robot. The sensor detects the 3-dimensional shape of groove on the target work which needs to be weld. And the welding robot is controlled to trace the grooves with accuracy. The principle of the 3-dimensional measurement is depend on the slit-ray projection method. In order to realize a slit-ray projection method, two laser slit-ray projectors and one CCD TV camera are compactly mounted. Tactful image processing enabled 3-dimensional data processing without suffering from disturbance lights. Dexmedetomidine, an imidazoline compound, is a highly selective ${\alpha}_2$-adrenoceptor agonist with sympatholytic, sedative, amnestic, and analgesic properties. In order to minimize the patients' pain and anxiety during minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) when compared to conventional surgery under general anesthesia, an adequate conscious sedation (CS) or monitored anesthetic care (MAC) should be provided. Commonly used intravenous sedatives and hypnotics, such as midazolam and propofol, are not suitable for operations in a prone position due to undesired respiratory depression. Dexmedetomidine converges on an endogenous non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep-promoting pathway to exert its sedative effects. The great merit of dexmedetomidine for CS or MAC is the ability of the operator to recognize nerve damage during percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy, a representative MISS. However, there are 2 shortcomings for dexmedetomidine in MISS: hypotension/bradycardia and delayed emergence. Its hypotension/bradycardiac effects can be prevented by ketamine intraoperatively. Using atipamezole (an ${\alpha}_2$-adrenoceptor antagonist) might allow doctors to control the rate of recovery from procedural sedation in the future. MAC, with other analgesics such as ketorolac and opioids, creates ideal conditions for MISS. In conclusion, dexmedetomidine provides a favorable surgical condition in patients receiving MISS in a prone position due to its unique properties of conscious sedation followed by unconscious hypnosis with analgesia. However, no respiratory depression occurs based on the dexmedetomidine-related endogenous sleep pathways involves the inhibition of the locus coeruleus in the pons, which facilitates VLPO firing in the anterior hypothalamus.
We calculate the coordinates of an axisymmetric nozzle with a central body. This nozzle ensures a transonic flow with a plane sound surface, which is orthogonal to the symmetry axis and has a wall kink at the sonic point, The Chaplygin transformation in the subsonic part of the flow leads the Dirichlet problem for a system of nonlinear equations. The definition domain of the solution in the velocity-hodograph plane is taken as a rectangle. This enables one to obtain the nozzle with a monotonic distribution of velocity along its subsonic part. In the nonlinear differential equation, the linear Chaplygin operator for plane flows is separated, which allows the iterative calculation of the solution. The supersonic part of the nozzle is calculated under the assumption that the flow at the nozzle exit is uniform and parallel to the symmetry axis; i.e., the supersonic jet outflows to the submerged space with the same pressure. The calculation is performed by the characteristic method. The exact solution of Tricomi equation for near-sonic flows with the straight sonic line is used to 'move away' the sound plane. The velocity distribution alone the supersonic part of the nozzle is also monotonic, which ensures the absence of the boundary-layer separation and, therefore, the adequacy of the ideal-gas model. calculations show that the flow in the supersonic part of the nozzle is continuous (compression shocks are absent)
For three-phase synchronization applications, the synchronous reference frame phase-locked loop (SRF-PLL) is probably the most widely used technique due to its ease of implementation and satisfactory phase tracking performance under ideal grid conditions. However, under unbalanced and distorted grid conditions, its performance tends to worsen. To deal with this problem, a variety of filtering stages have been proposed and used in SRF-PLLs for the rejection of disturbance components at the cost of degrading the dynamic performance. In this paper, to improve dynamic performance without compromising the filtering capability, an effective hybrid filtering stage is proposed and incorporated into the inner loop of a quasi-type-1 PLL (QT1-PLL). The proposed filtering stage is a combination of a moving average filter (MAF) and a modified delay signal cancellation (DSC) operator in cascade. The time delay caused by the proposed filtering stage is smaller than that in the conventional MAF-based and DSC-based PLLs. A small-signal model of the proposed PLL is derived. The stability is analyzed and parameters design guidelines are given. The effectiveness of the proposed PLL is confirmed through experimental results.
The purpose of this study was to improve productivity for maximum effects with the present equipments and staff. This study compared and analyzed the mea-sured time by using stop watch method and MTM, which was the new measuring method. The flow and results of this study were as follows: 1. This study investigated the theoretical background the efficiency for production management, and the way of productivity improvement through documentary research. 2. Setting up the standard flow on the experi-mental company production, making out a process chart and measuring the actual working hour. 3. The study measured the allowance time applying work sampling. 4. Each process of the movement analysis was filmed by video to use basic data. 5. MTM analysis was taken by choosing 10 processes from front bodice according to the basic movement of MTM. Through the results, this study exclude unneccesary movements and suggest a method for working ways. 6. Using the actual working hour measured by a stop watch calculated the pitch time and presumed the amount of daily productivity. 7. The result of the work sampling came out as 38% of allowance rate. It was 13% higher than the standard amount of woman's jacket allowance rate, which was 25%. The most influencing factor was work discussion. That was because there were commuication problem of the work way between the operator and leader. More adequate use of flow table and level passing table was needed. There were the problems that inappropriate places and sizes made the distance of movements longer and often needed more adjustment of works and surroundings. To prevent breakdowns equipments check ups were necessary before works. 8. The results of MTM analysis were as follow : the time was reduced 40% than the actual measured time by a stop watch. This was because the leveling of the operator was included in the real calculation. Also, leveling was included in MTM analysis and all the conditions were standarized. Therefore MTM method was a scientidic measuring way of establishing the standard time. The presented method of this study, suggested an ideal method eliminating unneccesary motions, and presented standardization of works. Improvement of working methods, work condition and simplifying motions in each 10 processes reduced the working time from total 656 seconds to 301 seconds. 9. The way and time of working was linked together in the MTM analysis methods. Thus data from MTM help suggest not only establishing standard time but also establishing stan-dard work. Plus it includes various ability for improvements of working ways. So it is an objective method which can be widely used in other work studies. 10. The function of a time study is to determine the amount of work produced with a given method. The work rate is used to establish the cost of labor. The wage of worker must be calculated per unit time which is deter-mined before the time study is made. This study tried to introduce the incentive rule for deciding wages according to the standard time by MTM method.

Purpose: Previous studies of the facial artery have shown significant anatomical variability in this region. The vascular anatomy of the region is considered unreliable in predicting the ideal pedicle. Preoperative imaging has been suggested as a means of improving preoperative awareness, with Doppler ultrasound as useful tools. Multi-detector row angiographic computed tomography (angio CT) is a significant improvement, providing noninvasive operator-independent details of the vascular anatomy. This tool was used to perform an $in$$vivo$ anatomical study of the facial artery, demonstrating the usefulness of facial angio CT in planning the facial reconstruction. Methods: Eleven consecutive patients underwent facial angio CT of the facial vasculature with the anatomical details of the facial artery assessed. Results: Facial angio CT could demonstrate the size and course of the facial vasculature, particularly the facial artery. Conclusion: The vascular anatomy of the facial artery is highly variable, and thus there is a role for preoperative imaging. Facial angio CT can demonstrate cases where there is an aberrant or non-preferred anatomy, or select the method of a facial reconstruction.

Purpose: Unilateral breast reconstruction after mastectomy confront the challenges of recreating a natural appearing breast mound and achieving symmetricalness of the breasts. If the patient's remaining breast is large compared to reconstructed breast, the most common procedure is reduction mammoplasty of the large breast side. The authors experienced a new method of breast reconstruction using the excess breast tissue from the contralateral breast after breast reduction. Methods: The excess tissue from the contralateral breast after vertical reduction mammoplasty with superior pedicle and remaining lower breast tissue were transferred to the mastectomy site breast through the subcutaneous tunnel on the chest wall. The main blood supplies of the flap are perforator branches of the 4th, 5th and 6th anterior intercostal artery. After elevating and detaching the flap on the lower lateral area of the breast, the turn overed flap is fixed on the upper portion of the chest wall of the mastectomy site. Results: On two cases of the breast reconstructions, remaining excess breast tissue from reduction mammoplasty was transferred to the contralateral breast side as pedicles. Both patient and operator were satisfied with the outcome of the reconstruction as the breasts were symmetrical and natural shape. Conclusion: We have performed unilateral breast reconstruction using the excess breast tissue after reduction mammoplasty of the contralateral breast. As Oriental women's breasts are relatively smaller than that of Caucasian women, delayed breast reconstruction cases of Oriental women with large breasts(macromastia) seem to be ideal for this procedure.

Clinical performance of resin-based composite material depends on case selection and on the proficiency of the operator. Especially, composite resin restoration on permanent first molar in children have more limitations clinically than adult patients according to stage of tooth eruption and patient's compliance. This study was designed to evaluate the clinical performance of posterior composite resin restoration in children after 5 years. 35 teeth of 16 patients who were received composite resin restoration on permanent first molar in Department of Pediatric dentistry, Pusan National University Hospital between January 2001 and December 2001 were evaluated based on Modified USPHS criteria. From the finding in this study, following conclusions can be made. 1. 6 teeth(17%) of 35 teeth was replaced, so 5-years survival rate of posterior composite resin restoration is 82.9%. 2. As results of each evaluation criteria, on color match, anatomic form, surface roughness, sensitivity/ discomfort, ideal A grade score was 86.2%, 93.1%, 86.2%, 86.2%, clinically accepted B grade score was 13.8%, 0%, 13.8%, 10.3%. On marginal adaptation and marginal discoloration, A grade score was 13.8%, 44.8% and B grade score was 79.3%, 34.5% and secondary caries rate was 20.7%. 3. 69.1% of teeth (20 teeth) was clinically accepted on all evaluation criteria.

Recently, various systems have been developed to support ship navigation safety. In order to verify the usefulness of such a system, it is most ideal to try it on a real vessel, but there are many difficulties. As an alternative, usability verification methods applied with modelling and simulation (M&S) techniques are required such as FMSS, which is closest to reality, is very expansive to construct, and there needs the specialized operator. For this reason, this paper proposes a method to verify the navigation safety support system by modeling and simulation techniques based on the Discrete Event System Specification (DEVS) formalism. As a first step, we designed the navigation simulation architecture based on the SES/MB framework, and details on modelling ship core equipment and navigator agents based on the DEVS. Through this, we are able to implement the navigation simulation system for vessels, and evaluate the effectiveness of navigation safety support elements such as collision avoidance, etc. using developed scenarios.
