  • Here I investigate what effects Operational Control Center(OCC)'s service quality may have on airline staff's job engagement. My analysis reveals that airline OCC's service quality has a meaningful effect on airline staff's service satisfaction, and that service satisfaction mediates a meaningful effect on staff's job engagement. It was suggested that improving OCC's service quality leads to higher staff's job engagement. Accordingly, I suggest methods of improving OCC's service quality. I find that the importance of contributing factors on OCC's service quality are as follows, in order of most to least important: professionalism, assurance, empathy, reliability, organizational culture, and responsiveness. The results of this study are relevant not only for airlines but also for government agencies such as the National Emergency Management Agency, the Korea Forest Service, the National Police Agency and the Korea Coast Guard that operate aircraft and must ensure aviation safety.

  • A cross docking operation involves multiple trucks (known as inbound trucks) that deliver items from suppliers to a distribution center and multiple trucks (known as outbound trucks) that ship items from the distribution center to customers. Based on customer demands, an inbound truck may have its items transferred to multiple outbound trucks. Similarly, an outbound truck can receive its consignments from multiple inbound trucks. A unique characteristic of a cross docking system is the absence or prohibition of long term storage of items at the distribution center. Items delivered to the distribution center from suppliers are shipped to customers as soon as possible without being placed in storage in the distribution center. The objective of this paper is to develop the optimal operational strategy for finding the best truck docking sequence for both inbound and outbound trucks in order to minimize total operation time where a temporary storage area is not available in a cross docking system.

  • This paper studies the relationship between learning orientation and incremental innovation(process innovation, operational innovation, and service innovation), and the moderating effect of tenure in tele-communication service sector. Based on the responses from 241 employees, the results of multiple regression analysis show that learning orientation have positive relationships with process innovation, operational innovation, and service innovation. The results of moderating analysis showed that longer tenure employees have more positive relationships with all incremental innovation factors(process innovation, operational innovation, and service innovation) than short tenure employees.

  • We analyze the real-field operational results of the RIMS. Four aspects are considered; 1) economical, 2) managerial, 3) safety and reliability and 4) RIMS user evaluation. In economical aspect we investigate the fields where some economical gains are anticipated. In managerial aspect the efficiency and effectiveness of management through RIMS are investigated. The improvement of safety and reliability are qualitatively discussed. And RIMS user evaluation is performed through survey. We also suggest several conditions for the successful settlement of RIMS and future study area for RIMS to be more reliable and perfect.

  • The safety of tilting train running on curved track is, in general, evaluated with a derailment coefficient calculated by the ratio of wheel load and lateral force, Particularly on curve, the wheel load and lateral force on rail may cause trackbed to be deformed, depending on their intensity, and moreover, often result in critical accident such as derailment. This study hence was intended to identify the cause of wheel load and lateral force so as to suggest the allowable wheel load reduction rate, lateral force limit and derailment coefficient, thereby quantitatively evaluating the operational safety of tilting train. This study therefore was aimed to analyze the wheel load and lateral force occurred during tilting train's operation on circular curve in such a way of comparing with traditional trains, by axle and speed, in a bid to eventually evaluate the operational safety of tilting train.

  • Under industry 4.0, Internet of Things (IoT) is advancing a new breed of smart manufacturing environment. However IoT has not been widely applied in construction industry compared with manufacturing environment. IoT enables operational systems that deliver more accurate and useful information for managing construction accidents. IoT enables operational systems that deliver more accurate and useful information for managing construction accidents. In order to apply well IoT for construction safety management, as a preliminary study, this paper presents e safety accident prevention IoT Cone system through dangerous area setting in construction site.

  • Up until now, the government has propelled various projects to establish and stabilize the Safety Management System(SMS). Now it is time for companies to diagnose and evaluate the safety management system to see if it is being operated in accordance with the situations of the companies. Therefore, this study has proposed to develop a model that can monitor the safety management system and evaluate operational achievements and an implementation supporting module that can operate the safety management system. Additionally, the AHP scheme was reviewed, which is one of the major decision making method." mainly used in Management Science.

  • Human error is often in part in the cause of accidents and the result of various factors in an organization. Accidents should be investigated to elucidate all causes. Therefore, to reduce accidents, it is necessary to identify which factors affect human error within the organization. In this study, five groups of influencing factors on human error were selected using previousresearch, and operational definitions were made based on them. In addition, a questionnaire for measuring latent variables by operational definition was developed as an observation variable, and responses were received from employees of chemical companies in Ulsan. Based on SEM (structural equation modeling) analysis, 1) confirmatory factor analysis of variables in the human error model, 2) reliability and validity of latent variables, 3) correlations among latent variables, 4) influencing coefficients among influence factors, and 5) the verification results of the paths that these influencing factors have on human error are introduced in this study.

  • Shipping companies are key components of the logistics industry, which is extremely significant in enhancing the country's comprehensive national power and promoting global trade development. In the context of the implementation of the new development pattern strategy in China and the impact of the global novel coronavirus (COVID-19), this paper takes 22 Chinese shipping listed companies as the research object and analyses the operational efficiency of them from 2011 to 2020 based on the Super-SBM DEA Model and Window DEA Model. Factors affecting the efficiency are further analyzed with the Tobit model. The research conclude that the operational efficiency of Chinese shipping companies as a whole shows a steady increase from 2011 to 2020. Although most of them are in a relatively ef ective operation state, fewer are absolutely effective companies. Besides efficiency among companies differs obviously, which indicates the potential of further improvement and promotion. What's more, factors such as current economic development level, enterprise size, human resources quality and enterprise turnover speed have significant positive correlation to the operation efficiency of Chinese shipping listed companies, which is significant to improve the operation efficiency of Chinese shipping companies.

  • The revision of SOLAS, Chapter V, which entered into force on 1 July 2002, has firmly established the electronic navigational chart as part of the international maritime safety system. Its possible recognition as a paper chart equivalent confirms the considerable safety benefits provided by the official Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS). Elaborated by the Author IAMU Model Course on operational use of ECDIS aims to provide answers to some of the most commonly asked questions regarding various types of electronic charts (ENC, RNC, DNC) and electronic chart systems (ECDIS, RCDS, ECS). Following the earlier adoption of the International Convention STCW 78/95 and IMO model training courses, e.g. IMO Model Course on ECDIS [2], to assist in the implementation of the Convention and the associated IMO Assembly resolutions, a number of IAMU Member Universities had suggested that IAMU should develop model training courses on higher academic level to assist in achieving a more rapid transfer of information and skills regarding new developments in marine technology. The provision of model courses could help instructors improve the quality of their existing courses and enhance their effectiveness in meeting the requirements of the IAMU. In this paper the Author presents the results of two IAMU research projects sponsored by Nippon Foundation, titled 'IAMU Model Course on Training in Operational Use of ECDIS' and 'IAMU Handbook on ECDIS'.
