A Study of the Performance Prediction Models of Mobile Graphics Processing Units

  • Currently mobile services are on the verge of full commercialization ahead of 5G mobile communication (5G). The first goal could be to preempt the 5G market through realistic media services utilizing VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) technologies that users can most easily experience. Basically this movement is based on the advanced development of smart devices and high quality graphics processing computing power of mobile application processors. Accordingly, the importance of mobile GPUs is emerging and the most concern issue becomes a model for predicting the power and performance for smooth operation of high quality mobile contents. In many cases, the performance of mobile GPUs has been introduced in terms of power consumption of mobile GPUs using dynamic voltage and frequency scaling and throttling functions for power consumption and heat management. This paper introduces several studies of mobile GPU performance prediction model with user-friendly methods not like conventional power centric performance prediction models.

  • Currently, the world has known many innovative technologies created to bring users to interact using the internet. The latest buzzword attracting attention both from industry and academia is the metaverse. The metaverse is a virtual environment in which people used virtual reality and augmented reality devices to carry out numerous virtual activities. At first, metaverse applications were mostly virtual games, but now with advances in research, many other applications and technologies are integrating the metaverse among which manufacturing, real estate, healthcare, military, and many others. The proper operation of these applications requires some technologies like blockchain and artificial intelligence. In this paper, we investigate the role of blockchain and AI in the metaverse. This work aims to present the eventual use cases of these technologies in the metaverse regardless of their application domain.

  • The research of combining virtual reality technology with the design elements of children's picture book education is a relatively new topic in virtual reality technology in recent years. Based on the combination of picture book design elements with virtual reality technology and the development of a children's picture book teaching game, this article analyzes the effectiveness of the application of virtual reality technology in children's teaching, and explores the usability of picture book design elements in teaching [1]. Through literature research methods, practical research methods and investigation research methods, this paper lucubrates the application of virtual reality technology in the design elements of children's picture book education so as to provide adequate theoretical and practical support for the research theme. The spatial positioning, vision, sound, and functional requirements of children's picture book games play a leading role in teaching. Practical statistics have proved that it is easier to promote children's mastery of teaching knowledge in a virtual environment. Moreover, use VR's game management function and setting function to solve the boringness of traditional education methods and the limitations of the teaching environment. The feasibility of game operation provides a virtual teaching platform system for children's education, and the teaching effect is remarkable.

  • Recently, the importance of plant maintenance(PM) was highly raised to provide efficient plant operation which highly affects the productivity. For this reason, a number of engineering methodologies, such as riskbased inspection(RBI), fitness for service guidelines(FFS), plant lifecycle management(PLM), have been applied to improve the plant operation efficiency. Also, a network-based business operation system, which is called ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning), has been introduced in the field of plant maintenance. However, there was no attempt to connect engineering methodologies to the ERP PM system. In this paper, a knowledge-based information system for the plant operation of steel making company has been proposed. This system, which is named as K-VRS(Knowledge-based Virtual Reality System), provides a connection between ERP plant maintenance module and knowledge-based engineering methodologies, and thus, enables network-based highly effective plant maintenance process. The developed system is expected to play a great role for more efficient and safer plant maintenance.

  • The system was constructed so that safety training of the region city gas governor could be carried out using virtual reality. This system was used to survey the general public and it was found that the operation controller has a great influence on the user in the training system. The same survey question was conducted to construct the safety training system of city gas governor using joystick and oculus touch. The results of these two surveys confirm the importance of the operation controller in the safety training system using virtual reality.

  • The primary objective of this paper is to introduce the application of Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies in flight operations. These include: self-check-in, baggage handling, airport security and surveillance, airport operations monitoring, In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC), cockpit design, and cabin crew support. This paper investigates the application status and development trends of HMI and AR technologies for airports and aircraft. These technologies can provide more efficient in-flight passenger service and experience by using AR devices. This paper also discusses the developments such as; the Integrated Control Application (ICA) for the IFEC interface, AR flight simulation training program using the fixed-based simulator, and the AR aircraft cabin interior concept test program. These applications present how HMI and AR techniques can be utilized in actual flight operations. The developed programs in this paper can be applied to their purpose within aircraft interiors and services to enhance efficiency, comfort, and experience.

  • This paper is proposed to make a virtual reality 3D operation model including a robot model and an environment model for a robot contest. First of all, we make the robot model using Open Dynamics Engine(ODE), and the environment model similar to the robot contest. These ODE models are programmed by the C-language. Lastly, we perform simulations to verify the robot model and the environment model. As a result, it shows the possibility of models for the robot contest.

  • This study aims to suggest a methodology for developing the AR-4D CAD system which can improve construction progress control process by using augmented reality(AR) technology for civil engineering project. This study reviews practical application of AR process in 4D CAB system and suggests the detailed requirements, information flow system and integrated interface function for developing AR-4D CAD system. Through these methods, this research classifies main functions of AR-4D CAD system that can visualize construction progress control data, and suggests an operation scenarios of the system.
