  • 오늘날의 교육은 단순히 지식을 많이 습득하는 것보다 문제를 인식하고 지식 및 정보를 통합하여 창의적으로 문제를 해결할 수 있는 역량 중심의 교육을 강화하고 있다. 이러한 역량을 배양하고 함양하기 위해 학생들의 발달 수준을 알아보고 분석하기 위해 국제 수준의 학업 성취도 평가 연구가 국제기구를 중심으로 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 학습자들의 역량을 효과적으로 평가하기 위해 최근에 컴퓨터 기반 평가가 도입되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국제 수준의 학업 성취도 평가에서 컴퓨터 기반 평가가 이루어지는 현황을 파악하고 PISA와 ICILS의 공개 문항의 특징을 비교하여 시사점을 제시하였다.

Understanding the Arithmetic Mean: A Study with Secondary and University Students

  • In this paper we present a cognitive developmental analysis of the arithmetic mean concept. This analysis leads us to a hierarchical classification at different levels of understanding of the responses of 227 students to a questionnaire which combines open-ended and multiple-choice questions. The SOLO theoretical framework is used for this analysis and we find five levels of students' responses. These responses confirm different types of difficulties encountered by students regarding their conceptualization of the arithmetic mean. Also we have observed that there are no significant differences between secondary school and university students' responses.

A study on the Experience of the Life of Caregivers with Mentally Ill Children. (정신질환자 가족의 경험에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore and describe the experience of caregivers with mentally ill children. The sample consists of 4 participants who care for their children with mentally ill. They were asked open-ended questions in order for them to talk about their experiences. With permission of the subjects, the interviews were recorded and transcribed. The methodology utilized was the Colaizzi's phonomenological approach. The interview data was organized by themes into 5 categories anguish, positive emtion, maturation, acceptance of the disease, and seeking information. These 5 themes were further categorized into 4 main groups : emotional impact, spiritual maturation, adapting to the illness, and seeking support needs. The results of this study have clinical and theoretical implications not only for psychiatric nursing in Korea but also for all clinicians working with the families of the mentally ill.

The Key role of the Bulge Compactness in Star-forming Activity in Late-type Galaxies

  • Which mechanism governs star-formation activity in galaxies is still one of the most important, open questions in galactic astronomy. To address this issue, we investigate the specific star formation rate (sSFR) of late-type galaxies as functions of various structural parameters including the morphology, mass, radius, and mass compactness (MC). We use a sample of ~200,000 late-type galaxies with z = 0.02 ~ 0.2 from SDSS DR7 and a catalog of bulge-disk decomposition (Simard et al. 2011; Mendel et al. 2013). We find a remarkably strong correlation between bulge's MC and galaxy's sSFR, in the sense that galaxies with more compact bulge tend to be of lower sSFR. This seems counter-intuitive given that galactic sSFR is driven predominantly by disks rather than bulges and suggests that the central mass density plays a key role in recent star-forming activity. We discuss the physical cause of the new findings in terms of the bulge growth history and AGN activities.

  • The purpose of this study is to attain basic source for spacial re-organization of the elementary school. This is the first step of some series of the study, For purpose, some investigations is to grasp the change of education system, curriculum and the present condition of institution were done, and some questions on the using condition of space, the satisfaction and the hope for the space of their school were asked to 371 teachers in elementary school, by questionnaire and interview methods. The result of the survey was analyzed using a statistics-analysis program SAS. The results are summarized as follows: 1) Corridor is using to extend of learning and living space. 2) To correspond to open education, various comers are placed in the classroom and the corridor. 3) As the change of educational system, teachers need parting the source center and the teacher's room.

Design evaluation Items for Assisted Living Facilities for the Elderly (반의존 노인을 위한 시설주거의 디자인 평가요소 -미국 노인생활보조주택을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify design evaluation items for assisted living facilities for the elderly. To achieve this purpose, the 23 design issues in assisted living facilities were examined through literature analysis. Then, the field studies were carried out by using these items and by asking open questions, or any other suggestions for unexpected, but important design issues in their facilities. The field studies were conducted through interviews with several residents and surveys with staff in six selected assisted living facilities in Cincinnati, Ohio. Finally, the 23 design evaluation items for assisted living facilities were identified. These items can be used as evaluation criteria or design guidelines for assisted living facilities.

  • This study started from the premise that the satisfaction of visitors in large-scaled design-related fair has co-relation with the environmental and contextual factors such as contents, lighting, the number and location of rest area, crowdedness, ventilation and circulation. The research was made in Seoul Living Design Fair 2006. 109 samples from 138 who answered to the questionnaire with likert-scaled and open questions were selected for the data, which were statistically analyzed through SPSS 12.0 program to explore the co-relation between the environmental factors and the satisfaction level of visitors. The findings showed that overall satisfaction level was In the middle of the scale, which means satisfied nor unsatisfied. Even though the visitors had difficulties In circulation and showed various types in circulation. It can be concluded that the main factors should be considered to achieve higher satisfaction level and provide better environment in the large-scaled fair.

Consumer Satisfaction and Dissatisfaction in Return Process (반품과정에서의 소비자만족.불만경험)

  • This study investigated consumer satisfaction and dissatisfaction experiences in post-purchase product return process. As an exploratory research the study collected qualitative data of subjective consumer experiences using an open-ended questionnaire and identified and classified themes and patterns of satisfaction and dissatisfaction experiences. A total of 113 cases were categorized into satisfied experiences, unsatisfied experiences, and neutral experiences. Further, satisfied experiences were sub-categorized into kind sales associates, quick and easy return process, and services higher than expected based on sources of satisfaction in the return process while unsatisfied experiences were sub-classified into rejection of return, attitude of sales associates, and hassle of return process. In-store adaptive behaviors and intentions on future behaviors were also observed. The results indicated that service quality in the post-purchase service encounter and consumer expectation were important in determining satisfaction and dissatisfaction in the return process. Insights for research questions were proposed.

An Exploratory Study of Consumer Return Experiences (소비자 반품경험에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • This study attempted to understand post-purchase consumer return experiences which had not received much attention in consumer behavior research. As a first step to understand return experiences from consumers' viewpoint, the study took an exploratory approach and identified themes and patterns from subjective consumer experiences. Whenever possible, attribution theory was applied to interpret the identified patterns. A total of 99 cases were collected from an open-ended questionnaire and analyzed based on a qualitative method. The reasons of product return was classified into five groups: changing mind; product defects; unsuitable products; products not expected; and for a better deal. External attribution was observed for return decisions caused by consumers' changed mind as well as by product defects. Dissatisfaction with defected products seemed to be intensified or reduced by service failure or success in the post-purchase service encounter. Consumer expectation and situations seemed to affect this process. Overall, the study supported attribution theory in the post-purchase return experience, and insights for research questions were proposed.

  • Debriefing is a conversational session that revolves around the sharing and examining of information after a specific event has taken place. Debriefing may follow a simulated or actual experience and provides a forum for the learners to reflect on the experience and learn from their mistakes. Originating from the military and aviation industry, it is used on a daily basis to reflect and improve the performance in other high-risk industries. Expert debriefers may facilitate the reflection by asking open-ended questions to probe into the framework of the learners and apply lessons learned to future situations. Debriefing has been proven to improve clinical outcomes such as the return of spontaneous circulation after cardiac arrest and the teaching of teamwork and communication in pediatrics. Incorporating debriefing into clinical practice would facilitate the cultural change necessary to talk more openly about team performance and learn from near misses, errors, and successes that will improve not only clinical outcome but also patient safety.
