  • Octopus Octopus vulgaris was dried with open air at $17{\sim}20^{\circ}C$ for 90 hours. Nucleotides and related substances were collected by extraction with cold perchloric acid, and their amounts were determined by ion exchange column chromatography. The contents of inosine, hypoxanthine and ADP in raw sample were 9.4, 5.1 and 4.1 ${\mu}mole/g{\cdot}dry\;wt.$ respectively. ATP and AMP were very low in content. But IMP was not detected in Octopus muscle. ATP, ADP and inosine tended to degrade rapidly during sun drying while AMP and hypoxanthine were increased. Especially, hypoxanthine were increased about three times during sun drying and also it was increased about two times during three months storage after sun drying.

  • This study was carried out to identify of C3G (cyanidin-3-glucoside) from mulberry fruits and quantify with different varieties. C3G of mulberry fruits was extracted with 1% HCl-MeOH and purified with open column (5${\times}$90cm) which filled with Amberlite IRC-50 ion exchange resin. The $\lambda$max ranges of the purified C3G on UV/vis spectrum were 516nm and 280nm. Also, molecular weight of C3G from mulberry fruits by LC-Mass was determined as 449. From above results, we concluded that anthocyanin pigment of mulberry fruits was C3G only. The cyanidin-3-glucoside (C3G) was separated and quantified by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) system using a Nova-Pack C$\_$18/ column. Mean content of the 35 tested accessions was 0.89%. Also fruity characteristics as well as C3G content to select the desirable mulberry varieties for the production of fruit were researched and analyzed. We selected three suitable varieties such as 'Susungppong', 'Kangsun', and 'Jeolgokchosaeng(Chungpuk)'.

  • Six components were isolated from the $CH_2Cl_2$ fraction of Belamcanda chinensis rhizome by open column chromatography. Their structures were elucidated as ${\beta}-sitosterol$ (1), apocynin (2), decursin (3), iristectorigenin A (4), irigenin (5) and tectorigenin (6) by spectral analysis. Among these compounds, decursin (3) was isolated for the first time from a plant of the family Iridaceae.

  • Phytochemical constituents were isolated from the seeds of tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum) by open column chromatography. Their structures were elucidated as ${\beta}$-sitosterol (1), ${\beta}$-sitosterol-3-O-glucoside (2), oleanolic acid (3), kaempferol (4), quercetin (5), kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside (6), and quercetin-3-O-rutinoside (7) on the basis of spectroscopic analysis including $^1H$-, $^{13}C$-NMR, and MS. To our knowledge, oleanolic acid (3) has been isolated for the first time from the seeds of Fagopyrum species. The total contents of compounds 4 - 7 were 0.500 mg/g in Daesan maemil, 0.312 mg/g in Yangjul maemil, and 2.185 mg/g in tartary buckwheat.

  • Four compounds of a coumarin, a steroid and two flavonoids were isolated from the herba of Artemisia apiacea by open column chromatography. Their structures were elucidated as artemicapin C, apigenin, daucosterol and cacticin by chemical and spectroscopic analysis. This is the first report of the isolation of these compounds from this plant.

  • Five compounds of terpenoids and coumarins were isolated from the non-polar fraction of Artemisia apiacea by open column chromatography. Their structures were elucidated as $\alpha$-amyrin (1), $\beta$-amyrin (2), $\beta$-sitosterol (3), 5,6,7-trimethoxycoumarin (4) and 6-methoxy-7,8-methylenedioxycoumarin (5) by chemical and spectroscopic analysis. This is the first report of the isolation of $\alpha$-amyrin, $\beta$-amyrin, 5,6,7-trimethoxycoumarin and 6-methoxy-7,8-methylene-dioxycoumarin from this plant.

  • Phytochemical constituents were isolated from Pinus koraiensis needles by open column chromatography. The structures isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of P. koraiensis needles were elucidated as afzelin (1) and quercitrin (2) on the basis of spectroscopic analyses including $^1H$-NMR and MS. The amounts of afzelin (1) and quercitrin (2) in genus Pinus were determined by HPLC/UV analysis. Afzelin (1) and quercitrin (2) contents were highest in P. thunbergii needles. Because P. thunbergii needles contain high amounts of afzelin (1) and quercitrin (2), they have promising potential as new additives to natural medicinal products, health supplements, and beverages.

  • Two acetylmartynosides, 2"-acetylmartynoside and 3"-acetylmartynoside were isolated from the $CH_2Cl_2$ fraction of Clerodendron trichotomum (Verbenaceae) by open column chromatography and MPLC. Their chemical structures were identified by the direct comparison of spectral data reported in the literature, and their antioxidant properties were evaluated. Both compounds showed antioxidant activity based on evaluations of intracellular ROS and DPPH radical scavenging activities.

  • Pesticides were extracted from samples with 70% acetone and methylene chloride in order, and then cleaned up via open-column chromatography apparatus packed with florisil, and finally analyzed simultaneously the organophosphorus pesticides using GC/NPD. Ultra-2 and Ultra-1 fused silica capillary columns were used to separate and identify the products. Recovery of most analytes from soybean sample, taken from pesticide residues well, was greater than(80%) for all except(6) analytes. This method can simultaneously determine multiple pesticides with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
