There are obvious differences between the characteristics of offshore ground motion and onshore ground motion in current studies, and factors such as water layer and site conditions have great influence on the characteristics of offshore ground motion. In addition, unlike seismic response analysis of offshore superstructures such as sea-crossing bridges, tunnels are affected by offshore soil constraints, so it is necessary to consider the dynamic interaction between structure and offshore soil layer. Therefore, a seismic response analysis model considering the seawater, soil layer and tunnel structure coupling is established. Firstly, the measured offshore and different soil layers onshore ground records are input respectively, and the difference of seismic response under different types of ground motions is analyzed. Then, the models of different site conditions were input into the measured onshore bedrock strong ground motion records to study the influence of seawater layer and silt soft soil layer on the seabed and tunnel structure. The results show that the overall seismic response between the seabed and the tunnel structure is more significant when the offshore ground motion is input. The seawater layer can suppression the vertical seismic response of seabed and tunnel structure, while the slit soft soil layer can amplify the horizontal seismic response. The results will help to promote seismic wave selection of marine structures and provide reference for improving the accuracy of seismic design of immersed tunnels.

An onshore dismantling yard is an important part in the supply chain of the offshore oil and gas decommissioning industry. However, despite having more than 500 offshore structures to be decommissioned in the Southeast Asia region, there are a very limited number of well-equipped dismantling yards to fully execute the onshore dismantling. Recent investigations discovered that shipbuilding and offshore structure fabrication yards are still potential options for upgrades to include dismantling. Despite the huge potential opportunities from upgrading to dismantling, research studies on this area are relatively scarce, and most past studies mainly focused on the North Sea region. To date, the potential opportunities of Southeast Asia and Malaysia yards to develop onshore dismantling capability are still unclear. The aim of this study is to identify the criteria to develop a technical preparedness checklist to evaluate an onshore dismantling yard; consequently, this will assist with assessing and bridging the gaps and identify the opportunity of developing an onshore dismantling yard in Southeast Asia region. Requirements for onshore dismantling and related rules and regulations have been investigated and summarized in the form of checklist. Findings from this study can help local oil and gas operators to pursue more local solutions and resilient supply chain performance.

In this work, wave run-up heights and resultant wave forces on a vertical revetment due to tsunami (solitary wave) are investigated numerically using a numerical wave tank model called CADMAS-SURF (CDIT, 2001. Research and Development of Numerical Wave Channel (CADMAS-SURF). CDIT library, No. 12, Japan.), which is based on a 2-D Navier-Stokes solver, coupled to a volume of fluid (VOF) method. The third order approximate solution (Fenton, 1972. A ninth-order solution for the solitary wave. J. of Fluid Mech., Vol. 53, No.2, pp.257-271) is used to generate solitary waves and implemented in original CADMAS-SURF code. Numerical results of the wave profiles and forces are in good agreements with available experimental data. Using the numerical results, the regression curves determined from the least-square analysis are proposed, which can be used to determine the maximum wave run-up height and force on a vertical revetment due to tsunami. In addition, the capability of CADMAS-SURF is demonstrated for tsunami wave forces acting on an onshore structure using various configuration computations including the variations of the crown heights of the vertical wall and the position of the onshore structure. Based on the numerical results such as water level, velocity field and wave force, the direct effects of tsunami on an onshore structure are discussed.

This study investigates tsunami force acting on a group of onshore structures numerically by using three-dimensional one-field model for immiscible multi-phase flows, which is based on Navier-Stokes solver. In particular, we studied on the characteristics of tsunami with respect to the arrangement of onshore structures and the distance from seawall trough numerical experiments. For validation of the numerical method used in this study to calculate tsunami force, numerical results for tsunami force on the structures in coastal area are compared with available experimental data. Furthermore, a detail study on the efficiency of the numerical method is performed for the estimation of tsunami force based on the hydrostatic and hydrodynamic methods in which the numerical results are used. The obtained results are compared to the previous experimental one and design criteria. Considering both experimental results and numerical analysis results, semi-empirical formula by regression analysis is proposed. As a result, it was confirmed that the numerical analysis is effective to estimate on tsunami force acting on onshore structures.

Offshore wind power can be an alternative for onshore wind power which suffers from not only civil complaints regarding to landscape damage and noise but also wind power siting due to lack of onshore site candidates. Compared to onshore wind power, offshore wind power is free from these problems considering that generally the sites are far enough from the coast. And more electricity is generated in offshore wind turbines due to abundant offshore wind resources. However high installation costs of offshore turbines could deteriorate the economical efficiency. The main cause of the high installation costs comes from a long-term lease of the heavy marine equipment and the consequential high rental cost. In this paper, the conceptual design of the support structure for offshore wind turbines will be suggested for the installation of them with less heavy marine equipment.
The present paper discusses the nonlinear wave deformation due to a submerged coastal structure. Theory is based on the frequency-domain method using the third order perturbation and boundary integral method. Theoretical development to the second order perturbation and boundary integral method. Theoretical development to the second order Stokes wave for a bottom-seated submerged breakwater to the sea floor is newly expanded to the third order for a submerged coastal structure shown in Figure 1. Validity is demonstrated by comparing numerical results with the experimental ones of a rectangular air chamber structure, which has the same dimensions as that of this study. Nonlinear waves become larger and larger with wave propagation above the crown of the structure, and are transmitted to the onshore side of the structure. These characteristics are shown greatly as the increment of Ursell number on the structure. The total water profile depends largely on the phase lag among the first, second and third order component waves.

In this study, the solitary wave-induced tsunami force acting on an onshore bridges in coastal area was numerically modelled by means of TWOPM-3D based on Navier-Stokes solver and VOF method which can track free surface effectively. The validity of numerical analysis was verified by comparing the experimental tsunami bore force acting on vertical wall and column structure. In particular, the characteristics of tsunami force with the changing tsunami intensity were surveyed through numerical experiments. The availability of 3-dimensional numerical analysis was reviewed through the comparison between the existing numerical results and design criteria for each drag force coefficient by applying Morison equation considering only drag force. As reasonable and high-precision estimation method of tsunami force, it was suggested to apply the estimation method taking drag and inertial force into consideration at the same time.

This study investigated the tsunami force acting on onshore structures using a numerical program, three-dimensional one-field model for immiscible multi-phase flows, which is based on Navier-Stokes solver. In this paper, the characteristics of tsunami of oil storage tank and house structures studied to the distance between the seawall and structure. In addition, the study compared and analyzed the tsunami forces determined by considering drag force only and considering both drag and inertia forces. These numerical results were compared with the design standard. As a results, the case of considering the both forces is more close to numerical result than that of considering the drag force only.

The structures of fresh water plume depending on estuarine geometries and wind directions (upwelling, onshore, downwelling, and offshore winds) were studied using the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS). Four idealized estuaries, which are different in bathymetry, were considered. The results showed that the fresh water plume was restricted close to the shore line where a river was connected to the sloping shelf rather than the flat shelf due to the fast momentum exchanges from x, y to z momentums on the sloping shelf. Mild upwelling and offshore winds (${\mid}{\tau}_{\omega}{\mid}=0.01Pa$) enhanced stratification on the contrast to previous studies which showed that winds destroyed stratification by enhanced vertical mixing. However, downwelling and onshore winds had similar effects on the vertical structure of the fresh water plume as in previous studies enhancing vertical mixing. The plume was confined above the underneath submarine channel, thus the plume path was directly affected by the direction of the submarine channel on the shelf.
