Internet vendors are gradually realizing the importance of "locking-in" online customers in order to ensure profitability. Erection of switching barriers increases customers'lock-in and in turn may result in their willingness to pay price-premium for the same service. However, raising customer lock-in online is difficult because search costs are very low. Therefore, this study examines the effect of switching barriers (customer satisfaction, perceived value and relative advantage) on switching costs and the effect of switching costs on customer's willingness to pay more. Since switching costs and consequent relationships may depend upon the type of product therefore the research model in this study is examined for both search products and experience products. Data is collected through an online survey from two websites (one each for search product and experience product). The empirical results show the key role of switching costs in customers' willingness to pay more and the relationships among the four constructs. The theoretical and practical implications of this study are also discussed.

Many domestic Hanbok manufacturers set up their homepages as part of efforts for online marketing or P.R. However, online shopping malls are run just by a small number of companies, and traditional Hanbok manufacturers are in worst situations. To be steadily competitive enough to keep on attracting customers, they should try to make their way through e-market from diverse angels. Purpose - The objective of this research is to a) examine the effects of online reviews, posted on online distribution channels, on the change of consumers' attitudes and booking intention by distinguishing three types of online review valence: positive, negative and neutral review valence, and b) to investigate the combined effect of the inclination of online review and perceived usefulness of reviews on consumers' attitude change. Research design, data, and methodology - An experimental design was used by creating a mimicked hotel company's website and online reviews extracted from several online distribution channels such as online travel agencies (OTAs). A total of 414 respondents were randomly assigned to a type of review valence. Results - The results showed that the valence of positive reviews has a significant effect on the positive change of attitude and booking intention. However, the effect of the valence of negative reviews on the change of booking intention was not statistically significant compared to that of the valence of neutral reviews. Conclusions - The results offer some insights into the effect of online reviews on consumers' decision making processes and have important managerial implications for companies that operate online distribution channels in terms of their online marketing and the distribution of service products.

For statistical Analysis, ANOVA is used to find the relationship between a single non-metric independent variable, and multiple metric dependent variables. Hofstede's cultural dimensions model is adopted for this study as a tool to find out the patterns of cross border online shopping. This study showed what the variables would affect the perception in cross border online shopping. The results of this study indicated that cross border online shoppers with different culture were notably different on two variables identified-timeliness and ease of use.

On-line consumer reviews are good references for consumers to evaluate and buy apparel products. The objective of this study is to facilitate communication about performance textiles between consumers and merchandisers who buy and sell apparel products on online. The survey was based on standardizing words used in consumer reviews written after purchase of summer knit t-shirts at internet shopping mall and evaluating the performance textiles including cellulose fibers. We collected reviews of five sorts of the clothing products including cotton/modal, tencel/polyurethane, polyester/rayon, linen, cotton and selected 1000 reviews related to textiles. For classifying each word used in the reviews by the performance textiles, they were quantified applying same standards. The results were as follow: First, the standard for consumer to consider importantly was tactile sensation, appearance, pilling, thickness, dimensional stability in washing. Second, the important category of performance textiles was healthy-comfort and psychological-comfort. Third, there were difference performance textiles for consumer to recognize, e.g. cotton/modal was important to air-permeability, tencel/polyurethane was noticed about tactile sensation, polyester/rayon was perceived about pilling unlike other things, linen had a problem of clothing care-convenience, then cotton was familiar fiber to important for appearance. The last, consumers usually focused on writing the most positive or negative online reviews. Although not familiar with professional terminologies, consumers are sensitive to physical properties of textiles. Therefore, standardizing and evaluating performance textiles are expected to improve satisfaction as providing objective information to consumers considering in buying apparel products at online shopping mall and increase in revenue to manufacturer.
The purpose of this study is 1) to investigate the Web content of online shopping agencies and to see if differences exist in their contents and 2) to suggest strategies for online shopping agencies. For the study, the online shopping agency components of web sites were investigated, which consisted of product, information, and customer service. Each component had sub-categories. In order to analyze the Web content of online shopping agencies, nine agencies were chosen based on the rankings of www.rankey.com and www.100hot.co.kr. The content analysis was conducted from January 5th to the 30th of 2009. The results showed that the basic Web content of online shopping agencies (i.e., product, information, and customer service) was evident on most sites. However, products were similar and effective information and labor-saving functions were sparsely used. Areas where customers actively participated were limited. Therefore, most sites need to reinforce their content by providing a well-articulated product, information, and customer service for shoppers and to differentiate their Web site identities.
This article empirically examines the relationship between values, consumer innovativeness, online opinion leadership, and new product adoption behavior utilizing wearable technology as the overall unit of analysis. The authors analyze data collected from SNS users who possess one or more wearable devices using a structural equation modeling approach to examine the direct effects. Moreover, a bootstrapping approach is adopted to explore the indirect effects between the constructs. The results indicate that consumers who value stimulation and hedonism are more inclined to possess stronger consumer innovativeness. Consumer innovativeness also positively influences online opinion leadership, ultimately leading to the faster adoption of new products. The mediating effect of consumer innovativeness between the value stimulation and online opinion leadership is also confirmed. In addition, although consumer innovativeness has no direct effect on new product adoption behavior, it does have an indirect, mediating effect through online opinion leadership.
