  • Shopping malls in Korea have grown in size and number, and their one-stop convenience has expanded to include various retail stores, service outlets, and entertainment providers. This study closely examines the shoppers' experience in a shopping mall. Using the photo elicitation interview (PEI) method, this study aims to provide deeper understanding of the subjective perceptions and context of shopping mall users. Ten shopping mall users participated in this study. They visited a shopping mall and took photos from their points of view about the shopping experience, and later participated in a personal interview. Convenience, excitement, relaxation, and socialization are the major themes of a pleasant shopping mall experience. Crowdedness and ineffective store design are the major themes of an unpleasant shopping mall experience. Core contents of each pleasant and unpleasant theme are presented. Given the current retail environment where shopping malls are continuously expanding, understanding the behavior and perception of consumers related to shopping malls is important in designing and providing a compelling experience in shopping malls.

  • This paper provides an overview of the emergence of resource discovery systems and services, along with their advantages, best practices, and current landscapes. It outlines some of the key services and functionalities of a comprehensive discovery model suitable for academic libraries in developing countries. The proposed model (VuFind as a discovery tool) performs like other existing web-scale resource discovery systems, both commercial and open-source, and is capable of providing information resources from different sources in a single-window search interface. The objective of the paper is to provide seamless access to globally distributed subscribed as well as open access resources through its discovery interface, based on a unified index. This model uses Koha, DSpace, and Greenstone as back-ends and VuFind as a discovery layer in the front-end and has also integrated many enhanced search features like Bento-box search, Geodetic search, and full-text search (using Apache Tika). The goal of this paper is to provide the academic community with a one-stop shop for better utilising and integrating heterogeneous bibliographic data sources with VuFind (https://vufind.org/vufind).

  • In the past, ADR has not been used as frequently in Japan as it has in other parts of the industrialized world. However, though litigation is still the most utilized vehicle of dispute resolution by Japanese financial institutions, this will be changing. The New Financial ADR system, which was created by a June 2009 amendment to the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, is meant to deal with every stage of financial-related disputes and, as such, strives to resolve disputes before they become significant and acts to ameliorate any post-ADR issues that may remain, thereby completing the FIEA's purpose to protect investors. Since the foundation of the New Financial ADR system applies to all related industries, new provisions were set out in 16 business related acts, such as the Banking Act, the Insurance Business Act, and FIEA itself. October 2010 will mark the formal introduction of a new system of financial ADR in Japan. New Financial ADR in Japan will be modeled on the Financial Ombudsman Service in the United Kingdom, but will not feature one comprehensive dispute resolution system in which one dispute resolution institution covers all disputes in the financial field. The New Financial ADR system is merely one step towards a foundation of comprehensive financial ADR such as FOS. It must be noted, however, that this all important first step was over seven years in the making, involving a great deal of discussion, debate, and compromise amongst many parts of Japanese government, business, and society. The New Financial ADR system grants participating parties the ability to stop the clock on any statute of limitations which may correspond to any future possible court cases related to the dispute,13 and further grants the ability to suspend related court proceedings while the parties are utilizing the New Financial ADR system. In addition, where financial institutions have not accepted dispute resolution proceedings or have not accepted a special conciliation proposal, the Ministry of Finance may issue an order compelling compliance if it is found that certain actions are necessary to ensure the appropriate operations of a financial institution's business. In Japan, as best practices have not yet been created.

  • This study examines the policies currently announced in the "3rd Comprehensive Library Development Plan" in relation to the discovery of individuals' potential in libraries and analyzes the current status of the tasks promoted and executed by central administrative agencies and municipal and provincial libraries based on these policies. Based on the analysis results, this study presents the methods for libraries to play their role in discovering the potential of individuals in the future. According to the results of this study, due to the poor performance of libraries resulting from reduced in-person events because of library closures and the promotion of non-contact services such as humanities classes and cultural programs in response to COVID-19, it is necessary to establish systems to support emergency management and non-contact programs in response to COVID-19, as well as increase the budget for extending reading culture projects for underprivileged regions and people. In addition, it is necessary to discover quality long-term, non-contact programs, provide infrastructure for non-contact program operation, and develop guidelines. Second, it is observed that communication- and discussion-type social reading programs need to be promptly converted into and operated as online classes. Third, the study results confirm that it is necessary to prepare measures to reinforce external cooperation, such as improving the convenience of and accessibility to information use for users, conducting seminars between domestic and foreign councils, promoting one-stop data sharing systems, executing data digitalization, expanding library infrastructure in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era, and promoting public relations activities.

  • We are entering into a era of enterprise computing that is characterized by an emphasis on broadband convergence, knowledge s haring, and calm services. Some people refer to this as the "ubiquitous" computing because its focus is on a high degree of connectivity between a company and its customers, suppliers, and channel partners. Ubiquitous computing technology, "RF" stands for "radio frequency"; the "ID" means "identifer". The tag itself of a computer chip and an antenna. The shortest metaphor is that RFID is like a bar-code but is read with an electromagnetic field rather than by a laser beam. Much has already been written about the use of RFID. But there is no has written about the use of RFID in the convention industry. Therefore this study have specific objectives as follows. 1. To give details on the use of RFID in convention. 2. To introduces the key concepts behind RFID technology. 3. To identify advantage & disadvantage of RFID technology using a BEXCO CASE study. 4. To study on ubiquitous convention using RFID and effective operation methods such as entrance identification system, session management, machine management, CRM management, visitor management, and contents management. This results provide into the current status of ubiquitous computing technology in convention industries. Specific advantages by using ubiquitous computing technology(RFID) are one-stop differentiate service, wireless internet service, use of visitor management system, entrance by tag, and U-logistics. On other side, disadvantages are security, stabilization of RFID system, higher price of RFID tag, and commercial scale. Convention by using of RFID technology is currently at an early stage. Convention company as BEXCO need to have the capabilities to adapt, to customize, to commercialize, and to modify technology to suit our circumstances.

  • This paper shows linkage management for external services. There are many services for specific entities such as DBLP and OntoWorld. OntoFrame, as a Semantic Web-based research information service portal, aims at one-stop service in ways that it connects external services with hyperlinks. For managing the linkage, linkage rules are manually edited by human administrators and automatically verified and tested by linkage management system. It consists of linkage rule management, linkage rule verification, linkage test, and dynamic link generation. Linkage rule management creates and edits linkage rules to connect external services on the Web. After finished rule editing and verification step, linkage management invokes linkage test with entity list. Only valid links are visible to enable users to click on our system, and thus it increases user's reliability on the system.

  • Purpose: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine is the key to getting out of the pandemic. However, acceptance of the vaccine has been affected by false information and rumors, which have kept people from getting the shot since it was rolled out. Materials and Methods: This study aimed to investigate the various misconceptions surfaced about the COVID-19 vaccines in Africa. We performed an online survey using an anonymous questionnaire to reach out to African respondents by social media and all possible online platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and so forth. The web-based questionnaires about the myths surrounding the vaccines were extracted from nonscientific information, unproven statements, social media posts, news reports, and people's concerns about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines. Participants indicated their level of agreement with each statement. Results: A total of 2,500 people responded to the online survey in Africa. The two common myths that respondents agreed with were that "since vaccines for COVID-19 have been developed, we can make vaccines for the common cold, human immunodeficiency viruses, and other diseases" (n=892, 35.7%) and that "researchers rushed the development of the COVID-19 vaccines; therefore, it is not very effective, safe and cannot be trusted" (n=595, 23.8%). The range of respondents who neither agreed nor disagreed with these myths was 12.4%-33.0%. The majority (1,931, 77.2%) indicated disagreement with the statement "after getting the COVID-19 vaccine, one can stop wearing a mask as well as taking safety precautions." Conclusion: Myths surrounding the COVID-19 vaccines have impact on acceptance. Exploring them helps public health authorities in Africa dispel them and provide accurate information to promote vaccination campaigns, education, and acceptance.

  • In recent years, changes in the university libraries environment have led to increased emphases on improving or restructuring the organizational structures of university libraries. Technology, trends toward access over ownership, user focus, and restructuring in higher education are some of the major factors contributing to these changes. The users' new information retrieving behavior are emerged from the developments in information technology with new media and from the competitive research environments, and thus this trend has led to the gradual increase of collection arrangement by subjects rather than by forms, particularly from 1995 in Korean universities' libraries. Users especially in university libraries who are frequently seeking information on the specific subject, are going to find a room accoinmodating all forms of information on the subject, that is, one-stop information service. As a result, subject division structure have adopted as a new organizational structure in Korea. Our survey shows 34 out of 73 university libraries in Korea is taking this structure of which collections are arranged by subjects, while the rest of them are operating with a traditional organizational structure by forms focusing on keeping of collection management. In the future, university libraries with traditional organizational structure will be moving towards the subject division structure which is a recommended one by this study.

  • Android apps suffer from intent vulnerabilities in that they abnormally stop execution when Android components such as, activity, service, and broadcast receiver, take malformed intents. This paper proposes a method to prevent intent vulnerabilities by allowing programmers to write a specification on intents that a component expects to have, and by checking intents against the specification in runtime. By declaring intent specifications, we can solve the problem that one may miss writing conditional statements, which check the validity of intents, or one may mix those statements with another regular code, so making it difficult to maintain them. We perform an experiment by applying the proposed method to 7 Android apps, and confirm that many of abnormal termination of the apps because of malformed intents can be avoided by the intent specification based runtime assertion.
