고속 Turbo Product 부호 복호 알고리즘 및 구현에 관한 연구 (High Speed Turbo Product Code Decoding Algorithm)

  • 최근 터보 부호에 비해서 구현시 복잡하지 않고, 높은 부호화율에서 거의 샤논 이론에 접근하는 Turbo Product Code(TPC)에 대해 관심이 고조되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 초고속 통신 시스템에 적용하기 위한 고속 TPC 복호를 위한 세가지의 알고리즘을 제안하는 바이다. 첫째로, 기존의 Turbo Product code 복호기에서 row과 column을 직렬로 복호를 하지 않고 복호 구조가 병렬로 동작하는 Turbo Product code 복호기를 제안한다. 둘째로 반복 중지 알고리즘을 제안하고 마지막으로, P-Parallel 알고리즘을 통해 P rows와 P columns을 병렬로 처리하여 복호한다. 모의 실험을 한 결과 기존의 방식에 비해 복호 지연이 줄어들고 성능면에서 직렬 방식과 거의 비슷한 성능이 나타난다. 또한 고속알고리즘을 바탕으로 VHDL모델링을 하였으며, 이를 timing 시뮬레이션 하여 메모리 요구량 및 복호 속도 향상도를 분석하였다.

Loss of a Main Feedwater Pump Test Simulation Using KISPAC Computer Code

  • Among those tests performed during the Yonggwang Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4 (YGN 3&4) Power Ascension Test period, the Loss of a Main Feedwater Pump test at l00% power is one of the major test which characterize the capability of YGN 3&4. In this event, one of the two normally operating main feedwater pumps is tripped resulting in a 50% reduction in the feedwater flow. Unless the NSSS and Turbine/Generator control systems actuate properly, the reactor will be tripped on low SG water level or high pressurizer pressure. The test performed at Unit 3 was successful by meeting all acceptance criteria, and the plant was stabilized at a reduced power level without reactor trip. The measured test data for the major plant parameters are compared with the predictions made by the KISPAC computer code, an updated best-estimate plant performance analysis code, to verify and validate its applicability. The comparison results showed good agreement in the magnitude as well as the trends of the major plant parameters. Therefore, the KISPAC code can be utilized for the best-estimate nuclear power plant design and simulation tool after a further verification using other plant test data.

Accuracy Analysis of Predicted CODE GIM in the Korean Peninsula

  • One recent notable method for real-time elimination of ionospheric errors in geodetic applications is the Predicted Global Ionosphere Map (PGIM). This study analyzes the level of accuracy achievable when applying the PGIM provided by the Center for Orbit Determination of Europe (CODE) to the Korean Peninsula region. First, an examination of the types and lead times of PGIMs provided by the International GNSS Service (IGS) Analysis Center revealed that CODE's two-day prediction model, C2PG, is available approximately eight hours before midnight. This suggests higher real-time usability compared to the one-day prediction model, C1PG. When evaluating the accuracy of PGIM by assuming the final output of the Global Ionosphere Map (GIM) as a reference, it was found that on days with low solar activity, the error is within ~2 TECU, and on days with high solar activity, the error reaches ~3 TECU. A comparison of the errors introduced when using PGIM and three solar activity indices-Kp index, F10.7, and sunspot number-revealed that F10.7 exhibits a relatively high correlation coefficient compared to Kp-index and sunspot number, confirming the effectiveness of the prediction model.

New approach in design of seismic isolated buildings applying clusters of rubber bearings in isolation systems

  • The given paper presents a new approach in design of seismic isolation systems of base isolated buildings. The idea is to install not one big size rubber bearing under the columns and/or shear walls, or one by one with certain spacing under the load-bearing walls, but to install a group/cluster of small size bearings, in order to increase the overall effectiveness of the isolation system. The advantages of this approach are listed and illustrated by the examples. Also the results of analyses of some buildings where the approach on installation of clusters of rubber bearings was used in their isolation systems are given for two cases: i) when the analyses are carried out based on the provisions of the Armenian Seismic Code, and ii) when the time history analyses are carried out. Obtained results are compared and discussed. Paper also presents, as an example, detailed analysis and design of the 18-story unique building in one of the residential complexes in Yerevan. Earthquake response analyses of this building were carried out in two versions, i.e. when the building is base isolated and when it is fixed base. Several time histories were used in the analyses. Comparison of the obtained results indicates the high effectiveness of the proposed structural concepts of isolation systems and the need for further improvement of the Seismic Code provisions regarding the values of the reduction factors. A separate section in the paper dedicated to the design of high damping laminated rubber-steel bearings and to results of their tests.

  • 코드 리팩토링은 소프트웨어의 수명을 연장하기 위한 목적을 가지고, 유지보수성을 증진하는데 초점이 있다. 그러나 최근 소프트웨어의 유용성이 높아지고 활용 범위가 방대해지면서, 성능 및 신뢰성 등의 다양한 품질 속성을 코드 리팩토링을 통해 향상시키고자 하는 노력이 있었다. 최근 스마트 폰과 같은 모바일 기기에서 저전력 소프트웨어의 중요성이 강조됨에 따라, 전력 효율성을 보장하는 코드 리팩토링 기법들도 필요하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 코드 리팩토링이 소모 전력의 절감 효과를 가져 올 수 있는지를 확인하고자 하였다. 즉 기존에 제시되었던 코드 리팩토링 기법들이 소모 전력에 대한 충분한 고려가 이루어지지 못했기 때문에 코드의 유지보수성은 향상시키지만, 전력 효율성이 감소하는 결과를 초래할 수 있다는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 M. Fowler가 개발한 코드 리팩토링 기법들을 대상으로 전력 효율성을 분석한다. 제시된 연구 결과를 통해 개발자들은 어떠한 리팩토링 기법이 전력 효율성을 제공하는지 판단할 수 있으며, 이를 통해 유지보수성이 높은 전력 효율적인 소프트웨어를 개발할 수 있을 것이다.

PN Code Acquisition in a DS/CDMA Overlay Environment

  • In this paper, performance of a PN code acquisition scheme is analyzed and simulated for a DS/CDMA overlay system where a CDMA user and a narrowband user coexist in the same frequency band. To suppress the NBI, an interference suppression filter is employed at the receiver front-end. From the simulation results, it is shown that the interference suppression filter is very effective for suppression of the NBI and rapid PN code acquisition in a DS/CDMA overlay environment. It is also shown that the one-sided tap number of 5 fur interference suppression filter is sufficient to suppress the NBI.

  • In this paper, we propose a new construction algorithm for the reversible variable-length code (RVLC) using a simplified average length function of the optimal Huffman code. RVLC is introduced as one of the error resilience tools in H.263+ and MPEG-4 owing to its error-correcting capability. The proposed algorithm demonstrates an improved performance in terms of the average codeword length over the existing HVLC algorithms.

A Relativistic Magnetohydrodynamic Code Based on an Upwind Scheme

  • Building a relativistic magnetohydrodynamic (RMHD) code based on upwind schemes has been a challenging project, because of the absence of analytic expressions of eigenvalues and eigenvectors. We found analytic expressions of eigenvalues and eigenvectors for adiabatic RMHD flows which are relatively simple and manageable. Especially, our eigenvectors can handle all degenerate points. Using these analytic forms, we built a code based on the total variation diminishing (TVD) scheme, and successfully performed one-dimensional shock tube tests.

2차원 바코드를 위한 데이터 부호화 알고리즘 설계 (Design of Data Encoding Algorithm for a Two Dimensional Bar Code)

  • In this paper, we propose a new data encoding algorithm for a two-dimensional bar code system. In general, the one-dimensional bar code is just a key which can access detailed information to the host computer database. But the two-dimensional bar code is a new technology which can obtain high density information without access to the host computer database. We implemented the encoding algorithm for Data Matrix bar code which is the most widely used among the many kinds of two-dimensional bar codes in the field of marking using Digital Signal Processor (TMS320C31). The performance of the proposed algorithm is verified by comparing the imprinted symbols on the steel surfaces with the codes which are decoded by a bar code reader.
