Recently, noise reduction in an axial fan producing the small pressure rise and large flow rate, which is one type of turbomachine, is recognized as essential. This study describes the design and optimization techniques of MPI parallel program to simulate the flow-induced noise in the axial fan. In order to simulate the code using 100 million number of grids for flow and 70,000 points for noise sources, we parallelize it using the 2D domain decomposition. However, when it is involved many computing cores, it is getting slower because of MPI communication overhead among nodes, especially for the noise simulation. Thus, it is adopted the one-sided communication to reduce the overhead of MPI communication. Moreover, the allocated memory and communication between cores are optimized, thereby improving 2.97x compared to the original one. Finally, it is achieved 12x and 6x faster using 6,144 and 128 computing cores of KISTI Tachyon2 than using 256 and 16 computing cores for the flow and noise simulations, respectively.
Background: The radionuclide inventory calculation codes such as ORIGEN and FISPACT collapse neutron reaction libraries with energy spectra and generate an effective one-group cross-section. Since the nuclear cross-section data, energy group (g) structure, and other input details used by the two codes are different, there may be differences in each code's activation inventory calculation results. In this study, the calculation results of neutron-induced activation inventory using ORIGEN and FISPACT were compared and analyzed regarding radioactive waste classification and worker exposure during nuclear decommissioning. Materials and Methods: Two neutron spectra were used to obtain the comparison results: Watt fission spectrum and thermalized energy spectrum. The effective one-group cross-sections were generated for each type of energy group structure provided in ORIGEN and FISPACT. Then, the effective one-group cross-sections were analyzed by focusing on 59Ni, 63Ni, 94Nb, 60Co, 152Eu, and 154Eu, which are the main radionuclides of stainless steel, carbon steel, zircalloy, and concrete for decommissioning nuclear power plant (NPP). Results and Discussion: As a result of the analysis, 154Eu and 59Ni may be overestimated or underestimated depending on the code selection by up to 30%, because the cross-section library used for each code is different. When ORIGEN-44g, -49g, and -238g structures are selected, the differences of the calculation results of effective one-group cross-section according to group structure selection were less than 1% for the six nuclides applied in this study, and when FISPACT-69g, -172g, and -315g were applied, the difference was less than 1%, too. Conclusion: ORIGEN and FISPACT codes can be applied to activation calculations with their own built-in energy group structures for decommissioning NPP. Since the differences in calculation results may occur depending on the selection of codes and energy group structures, it is appropriate to properly select the energy group structure according to the accuracy required in the calculation and the characteristics of the problem.
A systems biology approach for the identification of perturbed molecular functions is required to understand the complex progressive disease such as breast cancer. In this study, we analyze the microarray data with Gene Ontology terms of molecular functions to select perturbed molecular functional modules in breast cancer tissues based on the definition of Gene ontology Functional Code. The Gene Ontology is three structured vocabularies describing genes and its products in terms of their associated biological processes, cellular components and molecular functions. The Gene Ontology is hierarchically classified as a directed acyclic graph. However, it is difficult to visualize Gene Ontology as a directed tree since a Gene Ontology term may have more than one parent by providing multiple paths from the root. Therefore, we applied the definition of Gene Ontology codes by defining one or more GO code(s) to each GO term to visualize the hierarchical classification of GO terms as a network. The selected molecular functions could be considered as perturbed molecular functional modules that putatively contributes to the progression of disease. We evaluated the method by analyzing microarray dataset of breast cancer tissues; i.e., normal and invasive breast cancer tissues. Based on the integration approach, we selected several interesting perturbed molecular functions that are implicated in the progression of breast cancers. Moreover, these selected molecular functions include several known breast cancer-related genes. It is concluded from this study that the present strategy is capable of selecting perturbed molecular functions that putatively play roles in the progression of diseases and provides an improved interpretability of GO terms based on the definition of Gene Ontology codes.
Recently, as elderly people suffering from chronic diseases have increased and disasters such as traffic accidents have increased, urgent rescue workers and doctors need to respond effectively to such emergencies. For elderly people, the difficulty in communicating their condition especially the health condition during disaster is one of the problems in which delay on immediate handling by rescue team can cause death. Providing a solution for this problem is one of the main issues in our research. In this paper, we use the QR code to communicate the minimum personal information and medical history needed for emergency medical treatment to emergency medical personnel, and to transmit the medical history and treatment data to the doctors of the hospital through QR code and fingerprint recognition, respectively. Especially, by using both QR code of smart phone and fingerprint of individual, we can protects personal information and strengthens privacy and security of medical information by allowing only authorized physicians to check medical records of the old patient.

Holographic data storage system is affected by two dimensional intersymbol interference and inter-page interference. Especially, for multi-level holographic data storage system, since one pixel contains more than 1 bit, the system is more vulnerable to the error. In this paper, we propose a 2/3 modulation code for 4-level holographic data storage system. The proposed modulation code with error correcting capability could be compensated these interferences. Also, in this paper, we proposed a Viterbi decoder for 2/3 modulation code. The proposed Viterbi decoder eliminates unnecessary calculation. As a result, proposed 2/3 modulation code and Viterbi decoder has shown better performance than conventional one.
Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are attracting wide attention due to their outstanding performance, extensive studies have been carried out for lead-based fast reactors (LFRs) that cooled with Lead or Lead-bismuth (LBE), and small modular natural circulation LFR is one of the promising candidates for SMRs and LFRs development. One of the challenges for the design small modular natural circulation LFR is to master the natural circulation thermal-hydraulic performance in the reactor primary circuit, while the natural circulation characteristics is a coupled thermal-hydraulic problem of the core thermal power, the primary loop layout and the operating state of secondary cooling system etc. Thus, accurate predicting the natural circulation LFRs thermal-hydraulic features are highly required for conducting reactor operating condition evaluate and Thermal hydraulic design optimization. In this study, a thermal-hydraulic analysis code is developed for small modular natural circulation LFRs, which is based on several mathematical models for natural circulation originally. A small modular natural circulation LBE cooled fast reactor named URANUS developed by Korea is chosen to assess the code's capability. Comparisons are performed to demonstrate the accuracy of the code by the calculation results of MARS, and the key thermal-hydraulic parameters agree fairly well with the MARS ones. As a typical application case, steady-state analyses were conducted to have an assessment of thermal-hydraulic behavior under nominal condition, and several parameters affecting natural circulation were evaluated. What's more, two characteristics parameters that used to analyze natural circulation LFRs natural circulation capacity were established. The analyses show that the core thermal power, thermal center difference and flow resistance is the main factors affecting the reactor natural circulation. Improving the core thermal power, increasing the thermal center difference and decreasing the flow resistance can significantly increase the reactor mass flow rate. Characteristics parameters can be used to quickly evaluate the natural circulation capacity of natural circulation LFR under normal operating conditions.
Buckling is one of the most critical phoneme in the design of steel structures. Lateral torsional buckling (LTB) is particularly significant for slender beams generally subjected to loading in plane. The web distortion effects on LTB are not addressed explicitly in standards for flexural design of steel I-section members. Hence, the present study is focused to predict the influence of the web distortion on the elastic (Lr) limiting lengths given in American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) code for the lateral torsional buckling (LTB) behavior of steel beams due to no provision in the code for consideration of web distortion. For this aim, the W44x335 beam is adopted in the buckling analysis carried out by the ABAQUS finite element (FE) program since it is one of the most critical sections in terms of lateral torsional buckling (LTB). The strain results at mid-height of the web at mid-span of the beam are taken into account as the monitoring parameters. The web strain results are found to be relatively greater than the yield strain value when L/Lr is equal to 1.0. In other words, the ratio of L/Lr is estimated from the numerical analysis to be about 1.5 when the beam reaches its first yielding at mid-span of the beam at mid-height of the section. Due to the effect of web distortion, the elastic limiting length (Lr) from the numerical analysis is obtained to be considered as greater than the calculated length from the code formulation. It is suggested that the formulations of the limiting length proposed in the code can be corrected considering the influence of the web distortion. This correction can be a modification factor or a shape factor that reduces sectional slenderness for the LTB formulation in the code.

The goal of this paper is to propose the Hangul Jamo to make a optimum transmission code of Hangul consonant and vowel(Jamo). The Hangul Jamo was analyzed by three kinds of Hangul Jamo. First one is the basic Hangul Jamo which is consisted by 24ea Jamo. Second one is a two combination keyboard which has 28ea Jamo. Third one is 54 Jamo set which is added the double Jamo to the second one. Use frequency of Hangul-Jamo is analyzed based on the Hangul in "Modern Korean Use Frequency Rate Survey Result" issued by The National Institute of the Korean Language". Total 58,437 Korean words are contained in the report and the words are composed with Hangul 1,540ea. The results of this study are as follows, In the Jamo are that in the first Jamo set case, the highest use frequency consonant is "ㅇ" and the lowest one is "ㅋ", and in the vowel case, the highest use frequency one is "ㅏ" and the lowest one is "ㅑ". In the second case, the highest use frequency consonant is same as first case and the highest vowel is "ㅏ" and the lowest one is "ㅒ". In the third case, the highest consonant is "ㅏ" and the lowest one is "ㅞ". the highest vowel is "ㄱ" and the lowest one is "ㄽ".

Error correcting codes (ECCs) are commonly used to protect against the soft errors. Single error correcting and double error detecting (SEC-DED) codes are generally used for this purpose. The proposed approach in this paper selectively reduced power consumption, delay, and area in single-error correcting, double error-detecting checker circuits that perform memory error correction. The multi-objective genetic algorithm is employed to solve the non -linear optimization problem. The proposed method allows that user can choose one of different non-dominated solutions depending on which consideration is important among them. Because we use multi-objective genetic algorithm, we can find various dominated solutions. Therefore, we can choose the ECC according to the important factor of the power, delay and area. The method is applied to odd-column weight Hsiao code which is well- known ECC code and experiments were performed to show the performance of the proposed method.

Turbo codes, decoded through an iterative decoding algorithm, habe recently been shown to yidel remarkable coding gains close to theoretical limits in the Gaussian channel environment. This thesis presents the performance of Turbo code through the computer simulation. The performance of modified Turbo code is compared to that of the conventional Turbo codes. The modified Turbo code reduces the time delay in decoding with minimal effect to the performance for voice transmission sytems. To achieve the same performance, random interleaver the size of which is no less than the square root of the original one should be used. Also, the modified Turbo code is applied to MC-CDMA system, and its performance is analyzed under the Rayleigh Fading channel environment. In Rayleigh fading channel environment, due to the amplitude distortion caused by fading, the interleaver of the size twice no less than that in the Gaussian channel enironment was required. In overall, the modified Turbo code maintained the performance of the conventional Turbo code while the time delay in transmission and decoding was reduced at the rate of multiples of two times the squared root of the interleaver size.
