  • A 10-year-old spayed female Pekinese dog was referred to veterinary medical teaching hospital of Chonbuk National University with signs of dysuria, abdominal distension, and hematuria. Abdominal radiography revealed a large oval soft tissue mass in cranial abdomen, which was a fluid filled cyst containing a round mass by ultrasonography. Exploratory laparatomy found a 4 cm cyst containing reddish brown fluid and a 1.5 cm small round mass attached to the wall. Cytological impression of the imprint smears of the resected mass were highly malignant adenocarcinoma, which was confirmed by histopathology of the mass and the cyst. After the surgery the patient recovered uneventfully and discharged. The tumor recurred about one year after surgery, and second surgery performed at the owner's request. However the tumor recurred in two months with metastatic disease in the lung and the dog survived three more months after surgery.

  • Genetic changes from improving female's reproductive rate through in vitro fertilization of large number of oocytes were studied. The breeding scheme employed was multiple ovulation and embryo transfer of juveniles and adults. Both balanced and unbalanced matings were examined for the four closed progeny population sizes, 10$^3$, 10$^4$, 105, 106. In balanced matings, all selected sires and dams were mated to each other(cross-classified mating) while unbalanced matings allowed selected dams and sires mated partially, eg. unbalanced matings allowed averages of .5 and .25 progeny per each mating. Various numbers of selected sires and dams were also examined in both balanced and unbalanced matings. In all mating schemes, selection of males and females was restricted to he one from each fullsib family to reduce the rate of inbreeding. The model calculations were deterministic and accounted for the effects of selection and inbreeding on loss of the genetic variation in succeeding generations. Balanced rectangular mating schemes, where more donors were selected than sires, resulted in larger selection responses than balanced square mating schemes, where equal numbers of sires and donors were selected, and unbalanced rectangular mating. The first round selection responses from the balanced rectangular matings of juvenile MOET, eg. number of progeny per mating equals 2 with 10 sires selected, were 1.192, 1.406, 1.580 and 1.735 times larger than the first round selection responses from the balanced square mating schemes for the given four progeny population sizes, 10$^3$, 10$^4$, 105 and 106, respectively. Similar results were obtained in adult MOET breeding schemes. However, balanced square matings gave greater selection responses than the unbalanced rectangular matings.

  • This research aimed to identify the characteristics of outdoor apparel market for new seniors. To achieve this goal, influence of new seniors' lifestyle and apparel purchase criteria of design preferences of outdoor apparel products were investigated. An online-survey was conducted targeting fifties who have bought outdoor apparel within one year. The collected data were carried out for factor analysis, independent sample T-test, and regression analysis by using SPSS 22.0. Results showed that new seniors' lifestyles were composed of appearance-orientation, well-being diet, well-being exercise, self-development, and challenge-orientation. Purchase criteria of outdoor apparels were factored out as practical, aesthetic, and social. Appearance -orientation and self-development affect aesthetic and social factors. Well-being diet influences all factors of purchase criteria. Challenge -orientation has effect only on social factor. Women favored round-and V-neckline more than men did as well as preferred half and 3/4 long for sleeve. Customers who value practical purchase criteria preferred half-sleeve, zipper, and button-closure designs. In contrast, customers who have aesthetic purchase criteria like round/V-neckline and cap sleeve. Social factor affected high neckline and vivid-tone color preference significantly. As outdoor design for new senior it is critical to introduce differentiation of outdoor brand with various designs combining functionalities of outdoor activities and style looking young and dandy, which is highlighted as trendy and casual, over current outdoor apparels' unified design.

  • The objective of this study is theoretically to suggest the effective heat exchanger design method using boundary layer analysis. The boundary layer formation and interruption on rectangular plate and round plate fins are explained and the heat transfer coefficients showed with the variation of the velocity and temperature boundary layer. In addition, the flow pattern on one plate fin surface considered as external flow and flow pattern between fins considered as internal flow. As a result, theoretical method for the boundary layer interruption avoidance is suggested and the heat transfer coefficient of the round plate fin was higher than that of the rectangular plate fin because of the less thermal and velocity boundary layer thickness except the centerline.

  • Discourses on global environment are not only limited to the matter of simple environmen-tal protection but also going to an imperative that every country should take the environ-mental aspects into more consideration, and if necessary even proceed to modify its own strategies for economic growth. It is because scores of existing International conventions and agreements on environmental caused tend to combine the environmental issues with trade sanctions and financial assistances in order to ensure a mandatory power in pushing themselves through on a global dimension. Particularly noteworthy is the so -called Green Round(GR) which substantially associates the Issues of environmental protection with some sanctions in international trade, its rationale is quite simple. The differentiated production costs rising from the difference in environmental standards among different countries may affect national competitiveness in in-ternational trade, therefore a need does exist to countervail this difference. In reality, however, severe dissention seems to have been exposed between the developed and developing countries around this matter, because national interests and priorities in national goals considerably differ among respective countries. Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide which caused global warming are mostly released from the combustion of fossil fuels. The perfect removal of released $CO_{2}$ is impossible with existing technologies, and moreover, it's not payable in economical terms. Therefore it will be more effective and desirable to make more efforts to prevent the release of the $CO_{2}$ it- self through energy conservation involving the development and promotion of clean and high-efficient energy technologies and energy sources, and the development and promotion of new & renewable energy resources, and so on. One of important national tasks In our country is to establish an Energy Policy consider-ing environmental impacts since Korea depends most of its energy consumption on the fossil fuels such as oil and coal.

  • Strengthening the protection and management of very old trees is an important aspect of urban site preservation, urban design and construction. Rating various danger factors to evaluate the degree of danger posed can help to create the correct protective countermeasures. In order to develop the danger evaluation index, this study performed four round surveys by using the Delphi method and collected opinions from experts in related fields. Necessary indexes were fully added in the first and second round while the indexes falling beyond the guidelines were deleted. From the final analysis results, five areas derived a total of forty-one indicators to create a degree of danger index from vigour status, growth and development status, diseases and insect pests, soil status, and management status. The degree of danger evaluation index can provide basic data for the protection of very old trees.

  • Performed here is a comparative assessment study for the probabilistic fracture mechanics approach of the pressurized thermal shock of the reactor pressure vessel. A round robin consisting of one prerequisite deterministic study and five cases for probabilistic approaches is proposed, and all organizations interested are invited. The problems are solved by the participants and their results are compared to issue some recommendation of best practices and to assure an understanding of the key parameters in this type of approach, like transient description and frequency, material properties, defect type and distribution, fracture mechanics methodology etc., which will be useful in the justification through a probabilistic approach for the case of a plant over-passing the screening criteria. Six participants from 3 organizations responded to the problem and their results are compiled and analyzed in this study.

  • Flow-excited acoustic resonance in ducted cavities can produce high levels of acoustic pressure that may lead to severe damage. This occurs when the flow instability over the cavity mouth, which is created by the free shear layer separation at the upstream edge, is coupled with one of the acoustic modes in the accommodating enclosure. Acoustic resonance can cause high amplitude fluctuating acoustic loads in and near the cavity. Such acoustic loads could cause damage in sensitive applications such as aircraft weapon bays. Therefore, the suppression and mitigation of these resonances are very important. Much of the work done in the past focused on the fluid-dynamic oscillation mechanism or suppressing the resonance by altering the edge condition at the shear layer separation. However, the effect of the downstream edge has received much less attention. This paper considers the effect of the impingement edge geometry on the acoustic resonance excitation and Strouhal number values of the flow instabilities in a ducted shallow cavity with an aspect ratio of 1.0. Several edges, including chamfered edges with different angles and round edges with different radii, were investigated. In addition, some downstream edges that have never been studied before, such as saw-tooth edges, spanwise cylinders, higher and lower steps, and straight and delta spoilers, are investigated. The experiments are conducted in an open-loop wind tunnel that can generate flows with a Mach number up to 0.45. The study shows that when some edge geometries, such as lower steps, chamfered, round, and saw-tooth edges, are installed downstream, they demonstrate a promising reduction in the acoustic resonance. On the other hand, higher steps and straight spoilers resulted in intensifying the acoustic resonance. In addition, the effect of edge geometry on the Strouhal number is presented.

  • The present study observed the ultrastructure of testis of bluespotted mud hopper(Boleophthalmus pectinirostris), and sperrnatogenesis was discussed also. The testis was surrounded by a thin adventitia, inside which spermatocyst composed the parenchyma of testis. Each lobule was enwrapped by many spermatocysts, which were filled with different kinds of spermatogenic cell clusters at the same developmental stage. In the lobule lumen there are large numbers of spermatozoa The thin adventitia(outer wall) of testis was composed of outer epithelium, and the underlying layers, such as collagen fiber layer, and myoid tissue. The myoid tissue elongated into the inside of testis, became the main componentof interstitium between spermatocyst where sperrnatogenesis occurred. In addition interstitial cells containing dense homogeneous nucleus and abundant mitochondria were observed. Spermatogonia contained round nucleus with diffuse chromatin and nucleolus, and dense nuclear bodies surround by mitochondria in cytoplasm. The synaptonemal . complex was observed in primary spermatocytes clearly. Early spermatid presented larger round nucleus composed of granular chromatin, which was located in the center of cytoplasm. The nucleus of mid-spermatid composed of finely granular chromatin lied on one side of spermatid, and abundant mitochondria had migrated another side. A nuclear fossa appeared in the site near mitochondria in late-spermatid, and the centriole was formed in nuclear fossa.
