  • To develop the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for the detection of type D simian retrovirus (SRV) infection, an oligonucleotide primer pair was designed to hybridize to the sequences within env gene of SRV subtype 1 (SRV-1). The 3' proximal env sequences annealing to the primers had been rather conserved among three different subtypes of SRV, SRV-1, SRV-2, and SRV-3 (Mason-Pfizer Monkey Virus: MPMV). The PCR using the primer pair targeting an env region successfully detected and amplified all three subtypes of SRV with excellent specificity after single round of reaction. The tests with peripheral blood mononuclear cells infected either with simian immunodeficiency virus or simian T-Iymphotropic virus type 1, major immunosuppressive viral agents together with SRV in simian, verified the specificity of the PCR by excluding any cross reactivity. Semiquantitative titration PCR, amplifying serially diluted plasmid DNA of each subtype, was performed to evaluate sensitivity limits of the reaction. Based on molecular weight of each cloned SRV genome, the PCR should be able to detect one SRV-infected cell per more than $5-7{\times}10^4$ uninfected cells after simple ethidium bromide staining of resulting products. The PCR must be very efficient screening system with its quickness, certainty, and sensitivity for SRV-infected animals used in human AIDS research model. Second round amplification of the reaction products from the first PCR, or Southern hybridization by radiolabeled probes shall render to compete its efficacy to ELISA which has been the most sensitive technique to screen SRV infection but with frequent ambiguity problem.

  • Examine the dress which the Emperor actually wore in Gun-ryung 42nd year of Ching dynasty, comparison of 《Cheong-hoi-jeon-do》 with the Emperors year-round dress in Gun-ryung the 41st year was made and summarize the result as follows. It was used almost similar to the code of 《Cheong-hoi-jeon-do》. Though the materials and colors were more diverse than those of the previous year, it seems that actual use of material was plain under the influence of mourning. All the materials for summer hat were rattans. And velvet was the material for the patrol hat, but actually used before they change to summer material after fur use was over according to the season, which can be said as more reasonable use than the code. Materials of coat were more diverse than the precious year and also they put on ko-hemp cloth which was not found in the previous year. This can be understood that they expressed their guilt-consciousness to the dead as dress material by wearing ko-hemp cloth during the summer after periiod of mourning was over. And they put on the ko-hemp, the Emperors ordinary dress, much longer time than the previous year and this seems to be coherent to the meaning of wearing ko-hemp cloth. They followed the Emperor\`s Jo-bok1 one for the Kae-bok which were not systematized and Jae-dae used Jo-dae2 as the Emperor\`s Jae-bok in 42nd year. This was the same as the Jae-bok code of the previous year. Jo-ju did not follow the code of 《Cheong-hoi-jeon-do》, but made a wide variety. For the belt, the same as 41st year, it marked the gem decoration style on the Jae-bok belt as a square type and mourning dress by using the round type. The Emperors dress in 41nd year showed one side of the patrol clothes by the patrol of San-dong. On the contrary, it was also the chance to see one side of funeral garments in 42nd year. In Gun-ryung 42nd year, the Emperor put on the funeral garments for hundred days. Accordingly even in parts, we can see that the Emperor wore two kinds of dress for hundred days, that is, color dress and white dress and white dress. While on duty, in other words, everyday dress was only blue color and also the same color for the belt and shoes. But didn\`t put on Jo-ju. When they were in mourning, they wore white dress and belt as a funeral garments, which were called Hyo-bok, Hyo-bok.

  • This study aims to discover the clue of the current modern postal system development by looking at the delivery patterns of Korean letters during the Joseon Dynasty. A letter is a text medium that the sender sends to a recipient by sending a message of news. The form and contents of the letter are influenced by the various surrounding factors and are adapted to circumstances. The study aims to clear up the method of delivery and the nature of the transmitter among the environmental factors which affects the format and contents of Korean letters. Depending on the public or private matters, the delivery method is divided into a public agency and a private messenger, or divided into one-phase delivery and the multi-phase delivery depending on whether or not a phase is divided into stages. It is also divided into a one-way and a round-transmission depending on whether or not it is round-switched. The transmitter is divided into a verbal communication, the letter and verbal communication, and the letter communication according to whether or not it is by verbal, and divided into the relational and the non-relational person according to the relationship with the sender. Also depending on whether the transmitter is exclusive or not, it is divided into the exclusive messenger and the messenger who deliver a letter incidentally while come and go. In the aspect of the delivery method, We can see the possibility of developing to a modern mail system through the public method, the multi-phase delivery, one-way delivery and in the aspect of the transmitter, we can see the possibility through the letter delivery, non-related transmitter, and the exclusive messenger.

  • In this paper, we propose a new scheduling algorithm called the Adaptive Weighted Round Robin with Delay Tolerance (AWRR/DT). The proposed scheme is based on the per-class queueing mechanism in which a number of connections of similar characteristics are multiplexed into one class-queue. Traffic classes of the proposed method are classified into a single non-real-time traffic class and other real-time traffic classes. The proposed scheme determines the weights of classes according to the input traffic and delay characteristics of each class at the beginning of every cycle. Furthermore, this scheme incorporates a cell discarding method to reduce the QoS degradation that may be incurred by congestion of networks. We have evaluated the proposed scheme through discrete-event simulation. Simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme can reduce the average delay of non-real-time class while maintaining the QoS of real-timeclasses. The proposed algorithm can be effectively applied to high-speed networks such as ATM networks.

  • The effect of lime-related parameters such as loading velocity, load application time, gauge reading time on Rockwell hardness measurement was investigated for PE, PP PVC, and PMMA. It was found that keeping the specific requirements in the same condition is very important to obtain reliable and repeatable darn in polymer hardness measurement. The optimum condition for hardness measurement was 4 sec for load application time,15 sec for test load application net time, and 15 sec for gauge reading time after unloading. Using thess conditions, round robin test was carried out for 6 laboratories and it was shown that the testing machine should be one in which time-related variables are controllable. Indirect verification of hardness tester using brass reference block was not enough to guarantee the test results for polymer.

  • KOINONIA is high-rate Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) technology, and is developed for multimedia traffic transmission in personal area. A KOINONIA piconet is a collection of one or more associated slaves under a single master. Efficient scheduling of a master for the traffic of slaves is essential to use channel effectively and to guarantee QoS of multimedia traffic. We propose a new scheduling algorithm to allocate channel time at desired intervals regardless of superframe length, and a Connection Admission Control(CAC) algorithm to regulate the number of traffics in a piconet. Our proposed algorithms have been shown to save channel time and to meet QoS requirements compared to the conventional weighted round-robin algorithm.

  • Model-based test, a well-known method of the black box tests, is consisted of the following four steps : model construction using requirement, test case generation from the model, execution of a SUT (software under test) and detection failures. Among models constructed in the first step, state-based models such as UML standard State Machine are commonly used to design event-based embedded systems (e.g., weapon control systems). To generate test cases from state-based models in the next step, coverage-based techniques such as state coverage and transition coverage are used. Round-trip path coverage technique using W-Method, one of coverage-based techniques, is known as more effective method than others. However it has a limitation of low failure observability because the W-Method technique terminates a testing process when arrivals meet states already visited and it is hard to decide the current state is completely same or not with the previous in the case like the GUI environment. In other words, there can exist unrevealed faults. Therefore, this study suggests a Extended W-Method. The Extended W-Method extends the round-trip path to a final state to improve failure observability. In this paper, we compare effectiveness and efficiency with requirement-item-based technique, W-Method and our Extended W-Method. The result shows that our technique can detect five and two more faults respectively and has the performance of 28 % and 42 % higher failure detection probability than the requirement-item-based and W-Method techniques, respectively.

  • Objectives : A morphological classification among Pinelliae Tuber, Typhonii Flagelliformis Rhizoma and Arisaematis Rhizoma was made through microscopic observation. Method : The slice of the tested material made by paraffin section technique was colored with Safranine Malachite Green contrast methods, and then observed and photographed by olymphus-BHT. Result : 1. Pinelliae Tuber is like a ball with a $1{\sim}1.5cm$ diameter, with a concave apex and pockmarked root trace around. 2. Typhonii Flagelliformis Rhizoma is somewhat oval or like a cone, with a $4{\sim}8mm$ diameter, a $7{\sim}15mm$ height, a projected round apex, and a pin-pointed back. 3. Arisaematis Rhizoma is somewhat flat round with a $2{\sim}2.5cm$ diameter, a little than Pinelliae Tuber, and its apex has incomplete lobopodium and root trace. 4. Fundamental tissues of Pinelliae Tuber, Typhonii Flagelliformis Rhizoma, and Arisaematis Rhizoma have starch grains and mucilage cells, and their mucilage cells include the raphides of calcium oxalate. Conclusion : Internal forms of Pinelliae Tuber, Typhonii Flagelliformis Rhizoma, and Arisaematis Rhizoma are difficult to distinguish from one another, but Pinelliae Tuber and Arisaematis Rhizoma can be distinguished by their external forms and sizes, and Pinelliae Tuber and Typhonii Flagelliformis Rhizoma were distinguished by the forms of apex.

  • The conjugating algae, an almost exclusively freshwater and extraordinarily diverse group of streptophyte green algae, are referred to a class generally known as the Conjugatophyceae in Central Europe and the Zygnematophyceae elsewhere in the world. Conjugatophyceae is widely considered to be a descriptive name and Zygnematophyceae ('Zygnemophyceae') a typified name. However, both are typified names and Conjugatophyceae Engler ('Conjugatae') is the earlier name. Additionally, Zygnemophyceae Round is currently an invalid name and is validated here as Zygnematophyceae Round ex Guiry. The names of orders, families and genera for conjugating green algae are reviewed. For many years these algae were included in the 'Conjugatae', initially used as the equivalent of an order. The earliest use of the name Zygnematales appears to be by the American phycologist Charles Edwin Bessey (1845-1915), and it was he who first formally redistributed all conjugating algae from the 'Conjugatae' to the orders Zygnematales and the Desmidiales. The family Closteriaceae Bessey, currently encompassing Closterium and Spinoclosterium, is illegitimate as it was superfluous when first proposed, and its legitimization is herein proposed by nomenclatural conservation to facilitate use of the name. The genus Debarya Wittrock, 1872 is shown to be illegitimate as it is a later homonym of Debarya Schulzer, 1866 (Ascomycota), and the substitute genus name Transeauina Guiry is proposed together with appropriate combinations for 13 species currently assigned to the genus Debarya Wittrock. The relationships between Mougeotia, Mougeotiopsis, Mougeotiella, and Transeauina require further resolution, as do many of the other genera referred to the Conjugatophyceae. Type species are designated for genera for which no types were formally selected previously. The number of currently described species of conjugating green algae in AlgaeBase is about 3,500, comprising about 10% of all algal species, with about one third of species referred to the Zygnematales and two-thirds to the Desmidiales. A corresponding 10% of all algal names at the species level and below have been applied to conjugating algae, although a large proportion of these are at the infraspecific level.

  • Parathyroid carcinoma is a rare disorder accounting for 0.5% to 5% of parathyroid neoplasia. Diagnosis of parathyroid carcinoma in fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is difficult because ail characteristic features of parathyroid carcinoma can be recognized in parathyroid adenoma or hyperplasia. Cellular atypism cannot be used for the diagnostic criteria of parathyroid carcinoma as malignancies of most other organs. We experienced two cases of cytologic features of parathyroid carcinoma confirmed by histologic examination. The majority of tumor cells formed large cohesive clusters, although individual tumor cells were also present. The tumor cells displayed rather pleomorphic round to oval nuclei, occasional prominent nucleoli, and distinct cytoplasmic margin. Occasionally karyolysis, anuclear cells, and nonepithelial cell clusters were noted. The histologic findings showed a partially lobulated architecture, with admixture of sheets of chief cells, oxyphil cells, and occasional water clear cells. The tumor infiltrated into the thyroid parenchyme and perithyroidal soft tissue. The electron microscopic study of case 1 disclosed typical findings of parathyroid neoplasm; clusters of secretory chief cells with centrally located round to ovoid nuclei, moderately clumped heterochromatins and one or two nucleoli. The tumor cells showed conspicous interdigitation of contiguous ceil membrane and intercellular microvilli.
