  • In this paper, we describe reconstructed 3D-urban modeling techniques for laser scanner and CCD camera system, which are loading on the vehicle. We use two laser scanners, the one is horizon scanner and the other is vertical scanner. Horizon scanner acquires the horizon data of building for localization. Vertical scan data are main information for constructing a building. We compared extraction of edge aerial image with laser scan data. This method is able to correct the cumulative error of self-localization. Then we remove obstacles of 3D-reconstructed building. Real-texture information that is acquired with CCD camera is mapped by 3D-depth information. 3D building of urban is reconstructed to 3D-virtual world. These techniques apply to city plan. 3D-environment game. movie background. unmanned-patrol etc.

  • In a multi-camera measurement system, the determination of the external parameters is one of the vital tasks, referred to as the calibration of the system. In this paper, a new geometrical calibration method, which is based on the theory of the vanishing line, is proposed. Using a planar target with three equally spaced parallel lines, the normal vector of the target plane can be confirmed easily in every camera coordinate system of the measurement system. By moving the target into more than two different positions, the rotation matrix can be determined from related theory, i.e., the expression of the same vector in different coordinate systems. Moreover, the translation matrix can be derived from the known distance between the adjacent parallel lines. In this paper, the main factors effecting the calibration are analyzed. Simulations show that the proposed method achieves robustness and accuracy. Experimental results show that the calibration can reach 1.25 mm with the range about 0.5m. Furthermore, this calibration method also can be used for auto-calibration of the multi-camera mefasurement system as the feature of parallels exists widely.

  • In order to ensure the flow of goods available and more flexible, reduce labor costs, many factories and industrial zones around the world are gradually moving to use automated solutions. One of them is to use Automated guided vehicles (AGV). Currently, there are a line tracing method as an AGV operating method, and a method of estimating the current position of the AGV and matching with a factory map and knowing the moving direction of the AGV. In this paper, we propose ceiling Light and guided line based moving direction estimation algorithm using multi-camera on the AGV in smart factory that can operate stable AGV by compensating the disadvantages of existing AGV operation method. The proposed algorithm is able to estimate its position and direction using a general - purpose camera instead of a sensor. Based on this, it can correct its movement error and estimate its own movement path.

  • In this paper, an improved AE (auto exposure) system for digital still camera is proposed. The AE system is the most important part in camera to get high quality picture image. However, there is no remarkable progress in this field until this time in spite of its importance. In recent, some researchers try to develop an AE system with signal processing technique. But it has some problems in exposure time and sometimes generates oscillation in brightness. Therefore, we develop a new system using a control technology to remove such phenomena. This new system shows about 30% improved performance than conventional one.

  • Recently, omni-directional cameras are broadly used due to their wide field of view. Fisheye camera is one of them. This paper proposes the system which uses a fisheye camera for face recognition and analyzes its advantages. Since face images taken with a fisheye camera are affected by perspective distortion and radial distortion, we suggest a two-step method for removing those distortions from the face images.

  • By setting a refractor with a certain angle against the optical axis of the CCD camera lens, the image of a measuring point recorded on the image plane is displaced by the corresponding amounts related to the distance between the camera and the measuring point. When the refractor that keeps the angle against the optical axis is rotated physically at high speed during the exposure of the camera, the image of a measuring point draws an annular streak. Since the size of the annular streak is inversely proportional to the distance between the camera and the measuring point, the 3D position of the measuring point can be obtained by processing the streak. In this paper, for one of the applications of our system, the measurement of a moving surface is introduced. In order to measure the moving surface, multi laser spots are projected on the surface of object. Each position of ...

  • 1. Introduction of Camera Detection system Camera Detection system is an equipment that can detect realtime traffic information by image processing techniques. This information can be used to analyze and control road traffic flow. It is also used as a method to detect and control traffic flow for ITS(Intelligent Transportation System). Traffic information includes speed, head way, traffic flow, occupation time and length of queue. There are many detection systems for traffic data. But video detection system can detect multiple lanes with only one camera and collect various traffic information. So it is thought to be the most efficient method of all detection system. Though the...

  • A non-contact type measurement system is specially devised to measure the width of a piston ring groove in the grinding process. This system comprises a line camera with an imaging lens, collimated white light source, and a one axis translation stage. When the measurement system movesalong the diagonal direction of the cylinder, the line camera captures an image. By analyzing such images, the width of the piston ring groove can be determined. The experimental results prove that the proposed system is useful, especially as a monitoring system in grinding piston ring grooves on cylinders with accuracy of several micrometers in an area of dozens of millimeters.

  • When a mobile robot moves from one place to another, position error occurs due to the limit of accuracy of robot and the effect of environmental noise. In this paper. an accurate method of estimating the position and orientation of a mobile robot using the camera calibration is proposed. Kalman filter is used as the estimation algorithm. The uncertainty in the position of camera with repect to robot base frame is considered well as the position error of the robot. Besides developing the mathematical model for mobile robot calibration system, the effect of relative position between camera and calibration points is analyzed and the method to select the most accurate calibration points is also presented.

  • This paper presents a stereo camera system that provides a Pair of stereo images using a Biprism. The equivalent of a stereo Pair of images is formed as the left and right halves of a single CCD image. The system is therefore cheap and extremely easy to calibrate since it requires only one CCD camera. An additional advantage of the geometrical set-up is that corresponding features lie on the same scanline automatically, The single camera and Biprism have led to a simple stereo system for which correspondence is very easy and which is accurate for nearby objects in a small field of view. Since we use only a single lens, calibration of the system is greatly simplified. Given the parameters in the Biprism-stereo camera system, we can reconstruct the 3-D structure using only the disparity between the corresponding points.
