In this paper, we propose a nonlinear variable PID controller using a cell-mediated immune response. An immune feedback response is based on the functioning of biological T-cells. An immune feedback response and P-controller of conventional PID controllers resemble each other in role and mechanism. Therefore, we extend immune feedback mechanism to nonlinear PE controller. And in order to choose the optimal nonlinear PID controller games, we also propose the on-line tuning algorithm of nonlinear functions parameters in immune feedback mechanism. The trained parameters of nonlinear functions are adapted to the variations of the system parameters and any command velocity. And the adapted parameters obtained outputs of nonlinear functions with an optimal control performance. To verify performances of the proposed control systems, the speed control of nonlinear BC motor is performed. The simulation results show that the proposed control systems are effective in tracking a command velocity under system variations.

To design the light control system using the PLC(Power Line Communication) with the ballasts of MH(Metal Halide) lamps, we analyzed the noise effect on the power line by the electronic ballast. For the power line characteristics are changed by the loads, the ballast have to be designed to be suitable to the PLC. Therefore, this paper proposed the optimal ballast and designed two kinds of PLM(Power Line Modem) which one is ASK type and the other is FSK type. Two type of PLM have used the manchester codes or DS/SS code. Experimental results have shown that the FSK type modem by the DS/SS coding technique have the best characteristics.

A majority of industrial robots are controlled by a simple joint servo control of joint actuators. In this type of control, the performance of control is greatly influenced by the joint interaction torques including Coriolis and centrifugal forces, which act as disturbance torques to the control system. As the speed of the robot increases, the effect of this disturbance torque increases, and hence makes the high speed - high precision control more difficult to achieve. In this paper, the joint disturbance torque of robots is analyzed. The joint disturbance torque is defined using the coefficients of dynamic equation of motion, and for the case of a 2 DOF planar robot, the conditions for the minimum and maximum joint disturbance torques are identified, and the effect of link parameters and joint variables on the joint disturbance torque are examined. Then, a solution to the optimal path placement problem is propose that minimizes the joint disturbance torque during a straight line motion. The proposed method is illustrated using computer simulation. The proposed solution method can be applied to a class of robots that are controlled by independent joint servo control, which includes the vast majority of industrial robots.
This paper presents a design method for an on-line adaptive neural networks based intelligent controller. The proposed neural controller, assuming PID controller is initially presented, learns the equivalent behaviors of the existing PID controller initially and switches to take over the PID control system. Then, it executes on-line adaptation via evaluating its performance and minimizing user defined cost function constantly so that the optimal control can be achieved. The PID controller and the proposed neural controller are investigated and compared in computer simulation.

In this paper, a robust receding horizon control algorithm, which can be employed for a wide class of nonlinear systems with control and state constraints, modeling errors, and disturbances, is considered. In a neighborhood of the origin, a linear feedback controlelr for the linearized system is applied. Outside this neighborhood, a receding horizon control is applied. Robust stability is proved considering the time taken to solve an optimal control problem so that the proposed algorithm can be applied as an on-line controller.

In the present study, we developed optimal heat supply algorithm which minimizes the heat loss through the distribution pipe line in group energy apartment. Heating load variation of group energy apartment building in accordance with outdoor air temperature was predicted by the correlation obtained from calorimeter measurements of whole households of apartment building. Supply water temperature and mass flow rate were conjugately controlled to minimize the heat loss rate through distribution pipe line. Group heating apartment located in Hwaseong city, Korea, which has 1,473 households divided in 4 regions, was selected as the object apartment for verifying the present heat supply control algorithm. Compared to the original heat supply system, 10.4% heat loss rate reduction can be accomplished by employing the present control algorithm.

This paper presents how to determine the optimal operating points of Unified Power Flow controllers (UPFC) the line flow control of which can enhance system security level. In order to analyze the effect of these devices on the power system, the decoupled model has been employed as a mathematical model of UPFC for power flow analysis. The security index that indicates the level of congestion of transmission line has been proposed and minimized by iterative method. The sensitivity of objective function for control variables of and UPFC has been derived, and it represents the change in the security index for a given set of changes in real power outputs of UPFC. The proposed algorithm with sensitivity analysis gives the optimal set of operating points of multiple UPECs that reduces the index or increases the security margin and Marquart method has been adopted as an optimization method because of stable convergence. The algorithm is verified by the 10-unit 39-bus New England system that includes multiple FACTS devices. The simulation results show that the power flow congestion can be relieved in normal state and the security margin can be guaranteed even in a fault condition by the cooperative operation of multiple UPECs.
This thesis has suggested a method of applying the Maximum Principle of Pontryagin to the optimal control of distributive electrical networks. In general, electrical networks consist of branches, nodes, sources and loads. The effective values of steady state currents and voltages are independent of time but only expressed as the functions of position. Moreover, most of the node voltages and branch currents are not predetermined, that is, initially unknown, and their inherent loop characteristics satisfy only Kirchhoff's current and voltage laws. The Maximum Principle, however, needs the initial fixed values of all state variables for its standand way of application. In spite of this inconsistency this thesis has undertaken to suggest a new approach to the successful solution of the above mentioned networks by introducing scaling factors and a state variable change technique which transform the boundary-value unknown problem into the boundary-value partially fixed and partially free problem. For the examples of applying the method suggested, the control problems for minimizing copper quantity in a distribution line have been solved with voltage drop constraint imposed on. In the case of uniform load distribution it has been shown that the optimal wire diameter of the distribution line is reciprocally proportional to the root of distance. For the same load pattern as above the wire diameter giving the minimum copper loss in the distribution line has been shown to be reciprocally proportional to distance.

In this paper, an on-line process scheme is presented for implementation of a intelligent on-line modeling of nonlinear complex system. The proposed on-line process scheme is composed of FNN-based model algorithm and PLC-based simulator, Here, an adaptive fuzzy-neural networks and HCM(Hard C-Means) clustering method are used as an intelligent identification algorithm for on-line modeling. The adaptive fuzzy-neural networks consists of two distinct modifiable sturctures such as the premise and the consequence part. The parameters of two structures are adapted by a combined hybrid learning algorithm of gradient decent method and least square method. Also we design an interface S/W between PLC(Proguammable Logic Controller) and main PC computer, and construct a monitoring and control simulator for real process system. Accordingly the on-line identification algorithm and interface S/W are used to obtain the on-line FNN model structure and to accomplish the on-line modeling. And using some I/O data gathered partly in the field(plant), computer simulation is carried out to evaluate the performance of FNN model structure generated by the on-line identification algorithm. This simulation results show that the proposed technique can produce the optimal fuzzy model with higher accuracy and feasibility than other works achieved previously.
